We went to Magnolia & Pine for lunch, and it was a wonderful experience. It wasn't busy at all, with plenty of seating available, which made for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. The French onion soup was superb--truly one of the best I've ever had. My husband ordered the mussels as his lunch, and they were excellent. I had the Reuben sandwich, and it was the ultimate--perfectly made and full of flavor. While the drinks were pricey, the quality of the food made up for it. I like Cenci's but I'm not in my twenties so tried a more age appropriate magnolia pines on a Friday night at 8:30. I ordered a salad with no onion and chicken pasta. First, the silverware was dirty. Second, I got onion on my salad. Third, the pasta looked and tasted like it was a kids meal. Only 6 people at the bar and still bad service. Kitchen is solid if not terribly inspired. - Provolone wedges are delicious. Served with a delicious cold tomato bruschetta and dressed with a very light balsamic - The Cubano is made with pulled pork. Fantastic sandwich, but not really a classic cubano. - Chicken quesadilla is excellent. - Wings are serviceable, but nothing to write home about. - Friday fish sandwich: Battered. Large. Food service? OK sandwich but unremarkable. The cheese was kind of fun in a horrible way. - The French onion soup is fine. The onions are sautéed, but not caramelized. I think the stock probably comes from a box. A member of our group seems more impressed with the soup than me. - A member of our group loves the blue cheese dressing. - The chicken piccata is solid. This is where you take your mom for lunch if you're out in the North Hills, or perhaps where you hang out on a nice night if you live out there. This place is a hidden gem in Gibsonia. It's really cute inside and cozy outside when the weather is nice. Our server was very friendly and provided recommendations as it was our first time. I ended up getting the buffalo chicken flatbread which was really good. This review is based purely on food, as we used Grubhub, due to having a newborn. Our meal was delicious!! We got the hummus platter, and it came with a plentiful amount of fresh veggies and delicious pita. The pita was salty (in a good way) and so tasty, and the hummus was made perfectly. I loved my salmon Mediterranean salad. It was loaded with different flavors from olives, onion, feta, tomato, peppers, and the delicious salmon. Again, the hoagie was good....but probably no better than from a local sub shop and it's more expensive. I celebrated my baby shower at Magnolia and Pine. There were 35 people in attendance in the front area and it was perfect! The food, the service, the space, I couldn't be happier. I really appreciated working with Danny and Kim in planning my shower. They were incredibly accommodating and wanted to make sure the day was everything I wanted it to be. Kim made special cocktails and mocktails for me. When I met with Danny, he shared his recommendations on food and how much to order without having an abundance or waste. Finally got around to trying this nearby spot that has been operating for a few years now. Stopped in on a rainy Saturday evening and were able to get a table easily. We're told that normally reservations were recommended on Fri and Sat nights. The spacious outdoor patio was closed due to the rain but looks like a great space if the weather is nice. There is a large bar and dining area inside. Chris, our sever was friendly and attentive and gave us some great suggestions. Started with the shrimp and calamari appetizer which was tasty. For entrees we had the new Lobster pasta and also the Tuscan chicken. It is easy to see why this is a favorite dish as the sauce was delicious and the chicken juicy with a delicate breading. The quality of the food has definitely improved. Yes it is pricey, but it's the only game in town and the ambiance is nice. Sadly, the cheapskate nature of their management leaves a lot to be desired and cost them a regular. We came in for dinner tonight and when my son bit into one of his chicken strips, he spit it out. the bottom of one chicken strip was covered in white, creamy sauce while the other was dry. My wife poked around her caesar salad and found bits of fried chicken breading. Smelled the chicken and yep, caesar dressing all over it. I pointed it out to our super sweet waitress who immediately said she would take care of it. She came back some time later looking embarrassed and said "I asked the manager if we could take this off your bill and he said no, that the chicken always comes like that." What a cheap, lying sack of shit for management. $148 for three people, one being a kid. Regular patrons who spend a lot of money there and this dumbass loses out on a regular because he's too cheap and dumb to comp an obvious kitchen error. Never going back. read more

First time here. Came right when they opened. Food was great. French onion soup was full of bread, onions, and perfectly crisped cheese. Broth was very good. He got the chicken wraps. Really enjoyed them. I thought the peanut sauce was a little too sweet. I got the Cobb salad. It was good. I'm an Italian dressing snob. Love a good homemade Italian dressing. (All their dressings are homemade) but the Italian was a little sharp for me. Too much vinegar for me. The service was great. She was very attentive on our drinks. Loved my Bloody Mary. Not too Spicy and had a VERY slight smoke taste. I would definitely order one again. Two meals, soup, and drink were $65. Not bad for quality food. read more

I was looking forward to trying it as we really missed Pines Tavern and don't like chain restaurants. But wow were we disappointed Yelp for sure did us dirty on this one the reviews were good but I can imagine why, none of us liked our dinner. I had chicken piccata which oddly has a creamy sauce, the fried potatoes had butter and grease ladled over them and it drowned the entire plate and made it soggy and inedible. I did tell the waitress and all she said was next time let me know. Didn't discount or offer free dessert or anything. The chicken parm was not a traditional cutlet but it was battered and fried in a fish fry batter and it tasted like it, in addition the sauce and cheese made the fry batter soggy also really inedible. My husband ate his steak but said he would not order it again. His plate was also swimming in grease. We did order dessert because 2 of us didn't eat our meals and it was very good. It is still only weeks from opening, so the reservations I have are with that in mind. The roasted potatoes that came with it had great flavor but were way too heavy on the salt in my opinion. My husband loved them. The sprouts were a disappointment, especially since they're another favorite of mine. They were overcooked (roasted) and must have been swimming in butter, oil, or both before cooking with how greasy they were. I don't really expect vegetables to truly be "healthy" at restaurants, but I don't want them to be so covered in butter, oil, or salt that I can't enjoy eating them either. A large bar, high tops in the bar area, tables in the remainder of the seating area and a large patio. It looks great. We had lunch. The menu has a wide range of options as does the bar list. Our server was perfect. We ordered drinks and they appeared quickly. We placed our order and the food was delivered without delay. I enjoyed a Cubano, my wife had a flatbread. Both dishes were very good and very substantial, we both took a portion home for lunch the next day. This is fairly new place it needs to grow up a bit. It is trying to be more without enough experience and quality to be more. Overall the experience was not terrible. The cost to value isn't there yet and may never be. It is overly noisy and hard to have conversations in the dining area. Will have to give them a few weeks before we think about trying them again. Bar area looks great but the noise floods the regular dining area. Staff was great. Food came out quickly. Name is great. Big negative is they charge you a fee to use a credit card and they do not have coin change if you use cash (per our waitress). On a $283 bill the extra charge was $11.35 (4.28% (2.7% less than the state tax)) . If you are going to charge the fee make sure patron's know you are going to do it. Don't sneak the charge in as a line item on the bill. Charcuterie Board - Really nice. Maybe add some breads and fruit. A little small for $25 but good tasting. French Onion Soup - Excellent. Not super beefy like a traditional FOS but a good taste that is herby. Steak Sandwich - Dry. Steak was very tender cut in approx 1x1/2x4 inch strips rather than thinly sliced. Needs more onions and peppers. Cheese quickly got hard. Bun was big and bready. Fries - Perfect. Lose the basket. Teriyaki Glazed Salmon - Cauliflower fried rice and Brussel sprouts were good. Salmon was just ok. Grilled Fillet - Over cooked outside under cooked inside. Was slightly over rare rather than medium. Need to have some instant thermometers to check temp. Sweet potato mash needs to note it has bacon in it. Grilled portabella caps - Just ok. Half Pound Magnolia Smash Burger - Much enjoyed with a side salad. read more

Super disappointed, we had loved the former Pine's Tavern and were excited to try its replacement. The decor and inside were very nice, staff was plentiful and friendly. The menu is your everyday very basic foods. Nothing was unique or enticing enough to say "oh, I need to get that at Magnolia and Pine". We decided on an order of Cajun wings (6 and tiny! And barely any flavor) and two Greek salads with grilled salmon (Handful of "salad in a bag" with a few olives and some air fried, unflavored salmon) plus a cocktail each...for $100. We won't be returning. I am an enthusiastic cook and when I go out, I like to order things I wouldn't usually make for myself. All the items in the menu are basic things I could make better at home for a fraction of the price. I feel they have out-priced themselves as well, yes it is in affluent area and no I don't mind paying $$$ for an exceptional meal but the prices don't match the offerings. read more

All of the above would be passable if they didn't gouge you on pricing. The service was bare minimum as the female bartender was busy "flirting" with a group of men. That's OK, too, but at $14 per drink I had expected a top shelf drink and service. I wish the owners well as I want this new establishment to succeed, but, bad service, bad food and outrageous pricing is not a formula for success.
