This place is a typical barber shop. Haircut was pricey at $35 per cut. No pricing list was posted so you're at the mercy of your barber. Will cut my hair, talked to me about politics but wasn't all that knowledgeable. I'm not sure if anyone would want to talk about politics during a haircut but alas. Will kept looking at his IG and messages, which made my haircut longer than necessary. Had to wait around 45 minutes on a Saturday morning, so keep that in mind for when you decide to go. Have to pay for parking outside ($.25 per quarter, but it wasn't accepting quarters so $.45 convenience fee per transaction). Also FYI as of February 2022, half of the store was under renovation. Probably won't be going back. Fade was good though. read more

It kills me to leave bad Yelp reviews but these barbers do not know how to cut hair. I have gone to them 3 different times and have gone to 3 different barbers. All 3 times I asked for the same exact thing and all 3 times they just are not good haircuts. So many unblended sections and consistencies. I'm sorry but THEY JUST DO NOT GIVE A GOOD HAIRCUT. Strongly suggest you go somewhere else. It kills me to give this review but after 3 bad haircuts enough is enough and there needs to be SIGNIFICANT improvements and more consistency at this place. This is the worst barbershop I ever went to in my 22 years of living. I never expected to pay $25 to have my hairline pushed back and a messed up haircut. I was already skeptical when the barber that was cutting me couldn't speak good English, so the other barber that was cutting my friend had to tell him what haircut I was getting. This place is amazing. I recommend going to Shaney. My brother came in and he has very long thick hair and a beard. Shaney was able to trim up and even out my brothers long hair. Shaney also managed to fix up the mistakes that previous barbers made on my brothers hair. Shaney also perfected his beard where it looked natural but clean She's a master with clippers and scissors. Plus the atmosphere is very homie and cozy. Everyone in there is respectful. And absolutely kind. Can't beat the prices either. I recommend this place to anyone. read more

Terrible terrible terrible. Was told that these guys are "master barbers." Tried two different stylists and the only thing I can say is that I disagree completely. Asked them to give me a simple box cut with faded and squared back and sides. They couldn't even manage that simple task. Hairline is crooked. I'm stuck wearing a hat until my hair grows back. From yelp reviews decided to come here. I have been here 3 times each time getting a different barber, but the same haircut. Was trying to see if I could find a permanent barber closer to home so I wouldn't have to travel 30 mins to my old barber. First time, haircut was ok. Haircut wasn't special and I still had to go home to get a better shave. Both the second and third times, taper was good, but my hairline was pushed back and my beard pushed down further than I wanted. 3 strikes, they're out. Done trying to find a person. I've been to so many different barbershops over the last 10 years living in the area. I can probably count at least 6, and each one of them has really just been my choice barber shop because of convenience (it was cheap, close, I didn't want to make a change, etc). I actually found Off The Top while I was on my way to another barber shop down the street, but when I looked inside and saw the place I had to give it a shot. So glad I did. To start, the place is brand new and looks flawless. Super clean and comfortable. Brand new barbers chairs, lots of space to move, it's definitely the best looking barber shop I've ever been to. I'm used to waiting FOREVER when I get to the barber, but I literally stepped right into the chair. The person who cut my hair was actually the owner named Alex. He was a great guy and did an awesome job. I couldn't believe the place just opened and told him I'm definitely going to tell my friends to start coming, so I figured I'd post a review too. If you're in the North Bergen area (or even further away) and want to go to a great barber in a REALLY nice shop and not spend 2 hours waiting for 10 people ahead of you, this is the place. Very friendly atmosphere, very skilled barbers, no lengthy wait times, always parking available, music that is loud enough to hear but not so loud that you can't have a conversation with your barber lol....I have so many good things to say about this barbershop. I have been getting haircuts from Freddy for a long time and all I can say is that he absolutely puts in 100% in every haircut. Make sure you ask for Melo. I had a girl do my hair the last time I went there. She tried... but it was just a mess. I am not the one to cause a big scene but she really missed the mark. She was also very rough with the clippers. It was just not a great experience. I think her name was Lisa. Maybe I was way too vague with my description, but after this I was a bit afraid to come back. I might give it a try again, but I will definitely make sure to ask for Melo. He did an excellent job the first time I came. He is also very friendly and makes you feel comfortable even though it was my first time getting a cut there. The customer service is great though. Always offering a bottle of water or something while you wait. Just be sure to explain carefully what you want, or make sure you see the same barber every time. read more

Alex has been my barber for 15 years now. I started going to him when he was working for another shop back in 2004 and then followed him to two more shops after that. A couple of years ago he finally got his own shop and the rest was history. Off The Top doesnt only make you look fresh before leaving but makes you feel at home during the process. All the barbers there are friendly and courteous. You dont have to be a regular at the shop you can also be a walk in and believe me your going to get the same professional treatment. It doesnt matter whether man, woman, child, elderly Off The Top cuts everyone. So in short there isnt alot of shops that can top this one.
