My family and I got ice cream from here 3 times during our 3-day trip to Charleston! Including twice in one day. We got the coconut cake and cookies and cream flavors. Both were excellent, and the best versions we have ever had of both types of ice cream. I loved how there were large chunks of cookies in each scoop of the cookies and cream ice cream. It really tasted homemade. The cake in the coconut cake was really delicious too. My only complaint was that the first night that got the ice cream, the girl gave us very large scoops. The next 2 times were with another girl, and the scoops were rather small and probably half of what we got before. So there was inconsistency in the size of the scoops. Prices were on the expensive side, but given the quality, I would definitely dine here again. There is ample seating, and free water which is nice. Overall, we enjoyed our experience though would have liked larger scoops the latter 2 times that we dined here. read more

came to Off Track to finish off my date night with Russ (see my Rancho Lewis review for more details) before he left for nicaragua for a week #sadgirlhour Russ tried to take us to Jeni's (his fav) but the line was out the door and we were pressed for time and I was secretly happy bc I really wanted to come to Off Track but he paid for dinner so I wanted him to have his way. Russ has been having a lot of dreams about work so in order to bring out vacation Russ I knew this was what he needed. something that really gets me in this place is the elevator shaft. whenever i'm standing in line i get deep in thought about it. How did they get the elevator out? where did the elevator go to? do people realize their booth used to be an elevator shaft? unique characteristic if you ask me. adds to the vibe. I think next visit i'll have the courage to ask one of the staff members. Ok let's get to the good part- Russ really has a thing for mint chocolate chip ice cream (he's weird I know but I like him) so that's what he got. I got the vegan raspberry fudge and cookie monster (YUM). Sometimes Russ makes fun of me for doing the whole vegan ice cream sitch but he tried mine and said he didn't like it but I think he did. That's fine bc I think his literally tasted like an herb from my mom's garden. Russ said that's how you know it's real mint. He also liked how the ice cream wasn't green. I like to think of myself as an ice cream connoisseur...and I must say, Off Track is one of the finest scoops I've had! We were in Charleston for my bachelorette party, and my sister had found Off Track and was intrigued by their unique flavors and their proximity to all our other spots we had picked out. We headed here after an afternoon at the beach, and while the storefront is a bit off the beaten path (right off King Street, you would miss it if you didn't know about it!), it was easy to get to and then easy to get back to our air bnb. The scoop shop itself is so cute - a very clean and modern vibe with minimalist decorations that fit the ambience. The space was also massive, which I was not expecting! Lots of seating and spots for instagram pics with ice cream (lol), so we easily found a table for the 4 of us. In terms of flavors, as mentioned, Off Track offers such cool flavors, and many of them are vegan (I'm not a vegan, but I appreciate this offering). In addition to their scoops, they also offer sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, and beverages. I stuck to the scoops, though! The workers let me split scoops in a cup, so I opted for the fluffernutter blondie and the brown sugar oat milk & cookies. Both of these were vegan, but if I wouldn't have known based on the menu, I would have had NO idea - the ice cream was incredibly creamy and rich, completely unlike other vegan creams I've had before. They were also chockfull of goodies - blondies with the fluffernutter and cookie pieces with the oat milk flavors - which I personally LOVE in an ice cream. I was incredibly pleased with my flavor choices, the quality of the ice cream (especially given it's vegan quality), and the quantity for the price. My friends also really enjoyed their flavors and had similar accolades for Off Track - it was a hit of the weekend! Overall, Off Track is a delightful ice cream shop and a wonderful stop in the Charleston food scene. It was the perfect post-beach day treat, and I'm so glad my sister found it! I would highly recommend Off Track to anyone looking for a quality and unique scoop when visiting Charleston, and I hope to make it back myself! read more

[Coronavirus review] This place was open to eat in, and it is a lovely space in which to do so, with exposed brick and good air conditioning, the better with which to slowly savor your ice cream. Of course, no one's wearing masks while they eat ice cream, but the people working there were masked and gloved up. I like to try vegan ice cream with the regular dairy stuff side by side when I get the chance. This place had a large flavor selection with almost as many of their vegan flavors as regular ones (one less, by my count), and offered the option to try mint chip in both, which is my jam. The dairy mint chip was a fresh mint, and though I've been hit or miss with that variation (sometimes it's a bit vegetal for ice cream, others it's tasteless), the version here was as good as I've had, sweet and rich. I must say though that I didn't like the vegan-which was more of a peppermint flavor-a whole lot less. It had an excellent texture that almost could pass for the real thing. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to tell someone with an allergy or dietary restriction to try this dessert.
