This is such a good store and has been for so many years. They're really nice people. You're always greeted when you come into the store which is very rare these days. It is quite large, they have more stuff than you can imagine, and any and all office needs seem to be covered. I used to come to this branch when I was attending school down the street more than 20 years ago. I also used to come here for all of my school and church needs. They used to be my go-to and it has been years since I walked into this business. Today, sadly, the best thing about my time here was the cashier saying hello to me as I walked in. This place looks more like a warehouse than it used to, and I guess that has always been the point. There are so many THINGS here that it is difficult to navigate through the aisles and not be overwhelmed by it all. I went there to purchase something that their website said was available. Upon arrival, they did not have what I was looking for so I had to improvise. It is sad what the pandemic did to business and people who work at these businesses. It's as if they are just putting things out to make sure that they are out. The workers looked tired, and not many of them seemed to have wanted to be there. Their uniforms were baggy, and unkept. It's a lot of nothing for the amount of time it takes me to get there and it was another reason I was reminded why so many people switch to ordering things online. read more

I came here for an online pick up order for my mother. She emailed us the email that said everything was ready to go, I believe my partner only had to give my mothers name on the order and we were able to pick up her stuff hassle free. I did a little shopping and I really love coming here any chance I can because of all the stationary. I am an absolute stationary addict and I love collecting different pens and papers and even office supplies... I know it's so bad but it's just one of those things that I don't get to do often so when I do get to visit places like this I splurge a little bit. Surprisingly this visit I actually didn't leave with much, I did look at their pen selection when you first walk into the right, they had a lot of paint pens which I almost snagged some but I'm not quite ready to do the projects I have in mind that those would be useful for. One of the coolest things I did end up leaving with though was a smock for children. I'm always trying to do sensory activities and arts and crafts projects with my kids so I bought two of these and since using them the cleanup has been so much easier and I'm not ruining their clothes with paint that is supposed to wash out and then turns out it doesn't. Those smocks are amazing! The staff is also amazing, very helpful whenever you need some thing. The guy, unfortunately I did not get his name at the time, who rang us up last time was very fun to talk to. We started talking about how the younger generations will never know certain sounds, one of the examples we used was the AOL DialUp tone. We had such a good laugh about that and he really made our visit complete with that personalized experience at the end. read more

I was there New Years Eve around 6:30 and needed a quick copy. The gal that helped me with the process was so rude. She was demeaning, and made this a bad experience. ( usually go to full service). I live in Sunnyvale and travel to Staples. (Which I will say, Staples in Cupertino is the best). Even if I was in Mountain View and needed a copy ect. I would surely go to Fed Ex around the corner. Lighten up, and try not to be so rude. She tried to use airdrop, but needed to call for help. A young man came over and saved the day. Thank you. So you get 2 stars . I am very sad to have to write this review but I have to say this office max is very bad at providing customer service. I came in with open mind thinking that I could buy some file folders with pockets and I very politely asked the young cashier where they located and he said on isle #2 and I went over there still couldn't find it and I asked him if they had pockets like mead and he just gives me a blank stair says he doesn't know what they are. He then proceeded to ring me up and no empathy or kindness. Another thing he had his back to me three minutes while he was fumbling around doing something else before even ringing me up. He also didn't say any parting comments other that it may be online and go there. Very disappointing service and customer support. My mistake trying to shop with Office Depot in these times. Ordered a collection of cards online with a curbside pickup. Picked it up, the lady had forgotten the envelopes. Went back a second time to tell her this, waited patiently for over 10 mins for her to get free and then she goes and picks any 2 random envelopes from the shelf and tells me they are the ones. I went home and decided to write and pack the cards to find the envelopes don't fit the card. Go back a 3rd time for the same order! Ask for the manager. The manager (Ashley) is busy with a previous customer so I wait for over 10/15 mins. Once done, the manager proceeds to attend to new customers who came after me. And watches me as I leave but doesn't bother to step out and speak. Very poor experience. Not coming back. read more

I get things printed here all the time! I realized today after printing some documents I've never left any feedback about 2 employees named William and Alexei that work in the printing department. Their level of customer service and knowledge about their job is PHENOMENAL! When I go to this store if I don't see them working I just leave because they know EVERYTHING and have taught me so much about printing, colors, paper choices, sizing so I get color from edge to edge! Etc etc etc! I just really appreciate their help, genuine concern and faithfulness to Office Depot MV. I went in to buy a file cabinet in the middle of the day. I could not find a tag showing the price for the cabinet so I asked an employee walking by. He said he would page for help as he was already off. After waiting several minutes, I go to the front and find the cashier having a personal conversation. She told me she would try to see if she could help me as it was only her and another cashier working at the time. I would have to wait. No one was in line and there was only one customer in the store other than me. I just left the store. Horrible customer service. People don't want to work anymore. read more

21st year of teaching, so you can imagine the thousands of dollars I've spent at this store at the beginning of each school year and throughout the years for supplies, copies, and office furniture. I came to this store to purchase last minute school supplies for my children because my original online school supply order was delayed and then canceled as many items were out of stock. Went to several other stores and the same thing--this pandemic affects so many things. By happenstance, I found the items at a much lower price because who really wants to pay $5.00 for a 24-box of color pencils or scissors that were too small (had to make do for my kiddos) when you can pay 1/3 of the cost?!? During the return window the store had closed. I made several other attempts and eventually gave up in hopes of being able to do so at a later time or if by chance I was in another city and came across one of the few locations that was still opened. I assumed the closure was possibly COVID related, but after reading some of the reviews it was stated that the store had been closed for repairs or renovations. Today, I noticed the store finally reopened so I went to return several items. From the start of the transaction, it was evident that the guy behind the register didn't want to complete the return in spite that it was not my fault that the return window had passed (remember--the store closed). Even with the original receipt in hand, he didn't want to honor the price I paid. He said that there was nothing he could do...BIG TIME LIAR! The screen said the store manager could override the transaction. I asked to speak to the manager after he attempted to give me a partial refund--guess what--I can't make this sh@t up...HE WAS THE CLOSING MANAGER!!! Why would I ever continue to patronize a store that takes no responsibility for the role they played in this matter. I understand that for every 1 customer they lose, several more will come because of convenience--so why bother providing great customer service right?!? For me--it's the principle. So I will take my business elsewhere from this point on. read more

I really don't like shopping at Office Depot. But due to the fact that I'm going back to school and needed a range of items from loose-leaf college ruled paper to a micro sd card to store my school work, I decided to give this location another try. This spot is like a ghost town. All of the employees seem to congregate around the cash registers rather than being available throughout the store, or bothering to pick up the empty boxes lining the floor of the store-perhaps from re-stocking items. I tried to get the attention of a sales associate, only to realize he was speaking to someone else via his headset. Awkward...not even an acknowledgment. I can't even express how awesome it is feeling invisible as I seek out a long list of back to school supplies. I may as well have gone to Costco. I always end up dealing with employees (particularly cashiers) who have no idea what they're doing. Don't bother asking them any questions about, well, anything. I've tried, and received only confused looks and shrugs. I realized I didn't see the cashier go into the "secret electronics stock room" to get my micro sd card (the primary reason for shopping there) after he had finished ringing up my items and asked "Did you put the micro sd in the bag?" He responded in a slightly sarcastic tone "Oh yeah, I put everything in there." Umm...sure. I didn't believe him but didn't want to come across rude, so I went outside and looked inside my bag, and JUST AS I SUSPECTED, he had thrown the display box for the item into my bag instead of actually going to GET the item for me. In HUGE LETTERS it says "DISPLAY BOX." Now what the heck would I have done with a display box? I understand, everyone makes mistakes, but perhaps he should have actually CHECKED inside the bag and noticed his error instead of acting like I'm the idiot for asking. Thank goodness I actually checked before driving home. Needless to say, I won't be returning to this location. Its an utter waste of time. Low prices aren't worth the stress of double-checking a cashier's work. read more

Very typical of the modern office supply store. Big, full of stuff, but none of it exactly what you're looking for marked at prices that are significantly higher than most other outlets. I needed a slightly larger mailing tube, but their racks were empty. However they did have 3 small mailing tubes sitting on a large shelf with an empty shelf next to it. I had to mail something, so small tube it was. Staff is nice enough, though even they seem a little exasperated at how often they have to tell people "Well we have it online." Pretty much this place is built around the 'corporate account' who is deducting much of the high prices they pay, and the delivery as well. It is not designed for the individual consumer looking for a bargain. You're a necessary evil Office Depot. I'll see you again, hopefully not to soon! read more

It wasn't that they were out of the particular paper that I wanted but that they didn't have printer paper in standard size AT ALL. Great customer service. Only 1 Xerox machine was working, but the staff tried everything to get them going again. Staff had set up a nice, clean workspace (though with stapler, pens etc for us to use. I appreciate this customer-oriented, trusting environment. Roberto kept checking back with me when I didn't get a receipt, and offered to get the info to me by various means. He helped the next customer with issues. It must be annoying to have the machines act up when they have other work to do, but Roberto remained supportive! read more

I went here looking for a 5x8 blank (non lined) insert for my notebook after stopping by the Sunnyvale store I decided to try this one. Unfortunately they did not stock the replacement blank 5x8 pads but I did find someone to help me. He showed me they were only available through on line purchase through their website which I found very helpful to know but I really needed them NOW. So one more star than Sunnyvale for getting some kind of honest customer service at this location. read more

A clean, well organized store, but I don't think I will be shopping there anymore. The cashier always starts asking questions. This annoying and intrusive treatment is probably something the store owners require. First he asks for your number. What number? Do I make up a number? If it's the right number do I win a prize? I just want my complete my purchase and leave.. Then, when he finally accepts that I don't have the number he wants, he asks me if I want to register and get a number. Finally, he rings up my purchase and then I have to ask him what the total is. It should be obvious for him to tell me the total without me having to ask him. Then, when I put my money down, he doesn't give me my change and receipt. He asks me to choose my "receipt option" from the LCD pad. I can't read the LCD pad because I was not wearing my reading glasses. I tell him I want a paper receipt. Too late! It timed out and I don't get a receipt. This happens every time I shop at this store. I don't blame the cashier, he is just doing what he has been told. I am not spending my money at a store that can't treat their customers with respect and dignity. This store is always empty, and I know why. read more

I've been shopping at this Office Depot location for well over 20 years. I've purchased office furniture, printers and all of my office supplies. On my last visit I asked the clerk at the counter for two black ink cartridges for my printer. When I got home and opened the package I discovered he had given me a box with one black and one color, which I didn't want or need. I called the store immediately, and was told to bring the color ink back for an exchange. When I went back, they refused to honor their offer, even though I had the receipt. I try to patronize local "mortar and brick" businesses as much as possible, but I will not patronize this store again. They made a mistake, and then compounded it by not keeping their word. Staff is always friendly and proactive and asking customers if they need help. They all seem like they really focus on customer service. The manager Robert is great and goes above and beyond. This place is understaffed and the existing staff knows nothing about customer service. No one has ever smiled at me here, even though I am always a cheery sunbeam. Also, there was an incident where I was looking for a specific type of Rolodex which they assured me they had one of and they'd put on hold for me. So I drive all the way over there and the girl at the counter shows me this tiny torn up Rolodex box which definitely was not the one I asked for. What was the point of me calling ahead if they don't even know the difference between Rolodexes when I tell them EXACTLY what it is called on the box? They were out of the right one. When I told the girl that wasn't what I had wanted, she didn't even apologize or show me where the other Rolodexes were. Also, when the guy loaded a cabinet into my car and I said thank you, he didn't even smile or say anything back, but turned around and walked back in the store. What the hell? If you like wandering around an empty store trying to find someone to help you, and if, once you find them, you enjoy rudeness, this is for you. They get 2 stars because their furniture selection is wider than nearby stores. read more

The store general manager (an Indian woman) is very rude and unhelpful. I had to return 2 items that we had purchased a while ago & couldn't find our receipt...sitting unused for a long time. Office Depot has a clear policy to offer store credit without a receipt if the item scans and they would give the lowest value. This was also verified by their 800-number customer service who directed me to go to the store. An associate was about to help me and she was at the next register and said she would help me. Then she proceeded to give excuses, wouldn't even scan the items, and then pretended to go into an office to try to find our purchase receipt. There was another customer nearby who also commented that this manager had a very rude not-customer friendly attitude. I waited for her to come back, but she never did and I couldn't wait any longer. I went to another location a few days later, offered store credit.... they helped us without any issues. Worse service ever! I stayed there waiting to get help for about 20 minutes when I finally decided to make the phone call to Palo Alto and see if they had an item I needed. I walked out and no one said a thing! I was buying furniture! Not a paper clip! This has happened to me SEVERAL times... so it is not based on one trip only. Yet, I went again and for the first time a couple of weeks ago got great service, perhaps because they were closing and it was just a couple of guys who were really nice. I had ordered an item online. The completely wrong item was delivered. Office Depot online services scheduled a pickup at my place that never occured. So I loaded the item into my truck and drove to the mountain view location. They unloadled it for me and helped credit my card. After the return process was done, they assisted with placing the order and arranging a delivery date that fit my scheduled. Everyone at this location were very professional. read more

Robert (the store manager - I'm 90% sure that's his name) and his team are amazing! So helpful. It's the love and care of a mom and pop shop with the cheap prices of a big box. I just moved to the area and they were so helpful with a return I needed to make that I will always go here first for any of my office needs. I'd had such a terrible experience at the Office Depot where I'd purchased the chair that I swore I'd never go back to one and Robert's friendly helpfulness completely changed my mind.
