Don't buy from this store. Bad customer service including manager. I ordered online a chair to be assembled. I had a text saying it was ready. Manager called me before I received the text and said that they will let me know once it's ready for pick up. So I got the text after the call. But that don't matter coz I went in Ala Moana store anyway to see how the chair looks like. So I decided to change to a more expensive and better chair instead. The staff and the manager told me that I will not be refunded for the assembly charge anymore. WTF???? The chair was not assembled and they just put it in the back to be assembled and I'm pretty sure it's still in the box coz the manager saying will take at least 48 hours for assembly. LOL Then the chair I want to upgrade they don't have in stock. So I left very unsatisfied and they refunded me my order but did not get the credit for assembly. I've had hundreds of copies made over couple years at this place and ALWAYS, there are several carbonless copies with a blank sheet. There were just a few past orders but lately it has gotten worse. My last carbonless order had over 30 blank sheets and no calls were returned about what happened when left message. I'm going to another store after the last incident. I like coming to this OfficeMax in the Kakaako neighborhood to buy our office supplies...........I especially like the large Ink cartridge selection they have here, as my office has several network printers, and we seem to burn through a lot of paper, as well as ink. OfficeMax is a great store to go to if you have some needs in printing services, school supplies, & office supplies. The prices of their items are pretty reasonable, but it does help if you know your prices for the various items before you go there. There is a private lot in front of the store, so getting parking here is not an issue. Also if you ever get a sales flyer, pay attention as sometimes if you shop here it can help with a discount. I wish I could leave this store zero stars. Do not buy anything from them. I purchased a very expensive paper shredder. In less then 2 months the unit needs to be reset after every piece of paper. We haven't even filled the first waste basket yet. Talked to the manager today and he said they wouldn't address the issue because it took longer than one month to realize the rarely used item was a piece of junk. When I said "he sold me a piece of junk" he accused me of using profanity, which i did not, and hung up the phone. Save your money. This place will only sell you junk and rip you off. I came to this location in town to look for a gaming chair for my son. He has been wanting one for months. I brought him with me to browse and low and behold we ended up leaving with a gaming chair. They had a lot of office chair selections for those of you considering to get one or upgrade. Perfect time for the holidays! The staff here was very nice and helpful. Against my better judgement I bought a computer from Office Max. From beginning to end, plagued with problems, no support, just excuses. Don't waste your money on purchasing the Allstate insurance. As for their Office Max online support--pretty much nonexistent. I had to reach out the the manufacture on my own. The Allstate plan is for a year, yet, the manufacturer has a one year warranty on the computer. After my purchase I took the computer in, Marvin (?) installed a bunch of programs that I later found out cost way less than what I I was charged. When I questioned it I was told the programs were already installed I could not do anything--they didn't even offer me a credit. Never again Office Max. I shopped at your store for over 20 years. On Sunday I ordered a banner (3' x 6') $68. I needed for Tuesday afternoon. according to the website would be ready the same day. After I ordered I received an email that said it would be ready the next day(monday) no problem so far. I didn't receive any notification the next day so I stop by the store after work and they tell me that the machine is broken. They then said maybe morning shift can do it on the other machine and they would leave a note for them. I call Tuesday morning and long story short they couldn't print it. They gave me the alternative of going with a poster print (2' x 3') for $70! My son returns home and we have no banner at the airport for him. I should have been notified immediately that their machine was broken so I could have time to find an alternative print place. their attitude is like oh well too bad for you. If their website says order can be done same day if ordered before 2pm... Or the confirmation email tells me it will be done the next day, then they need to full fill their word. Or at least inform the customer that they can't fulfill their word immediately so a family isn't let down for a special FAMILY occasion. read more

Cannot believe there are still companies that keep employees that don't know how to say "thank you" after they ring you up. Walked in to the store and was greeted immediately. Awesome. Got the supplies that I needed and went to the check out counter. The girl there was assembling a chair. There were bolts and parts all over her counter. So I waited a few seconds. It wasn't long. Then the attitude started. No "hello" or "how are you today" or the most common "did you find everything you need" The girl was very abrupt with me. Great location to get what I need for work. They always have what I need. I went there a few days ago and was assisted by an employee with great customer service. He was helping another customer and seemed like a regular customer. The associate knew the customer by name. Superb customer service from the associate named Cameron. She tweaked the design so it would fit inside the envelopes I had, and was very patient with my many questions and changes. The invitations are spectacular and didn't cost an arm and a leg. I went into this place because we lost our USB wireless mouse receiver. Probably the same guy that people are talking about asked if we needed help finding anything. I told him my situation and asked him what to do? Surely this is something that happens a lot to people and there is a universal piece that can fix this problem. He said nope each mouse has a specific receiver that only works with that mouse. I realized right then that this dude was blowing me off and had no idea what he's talking about. We end up buying a mouse and on the way home I realize that I can plug in the expensive mouse with the charger it came with. Why I didn't think about it before I went to this place I don't know. As it turns out if you loose the USB receiver for a Logitech mouse. Logitech provides a unifying receiver to fix an issue such as this. An employee named Susan behind the counter at the shipping section was so rude for no reason at all, and was snapping at us like we had done something to offend her. OfficeMax - where I can find quality items and essentials for school at a reasonable price. I honestly love coming here for supply shopping. Everytime I visit, I'd spend a good 30-45 minutes walking around the entire store, going through EVERY aisle to see what's on sale and what I need (or want hehehe). Most of the things you find here, you can't find a replica at other supply and department stores. Maybe you can find something similar, but the price tells you a different story. For instance, all my comfortable JLab JBuds earphones with a microphone were bought here. I own 4 colors in black, pink, teal, and blue. The BEST EARPHONES EVER. I bought all 4 because they were having a sale for each at the time at $4??? It was cheap compared to its original price at $9.99. For that kind of cost, you'd think the quality sucks but it doesn't!!! I haven't even open 3 of my earphones yet because I'm still stuck using the teal one. I love using spiral notebooks to take notes, but I hate how the spiral part damages whatever is inside my bag. At OfficeMax, they not only sell spiral notebooks that has a sturdy poly cover for the spirals, it comes in 1-, 3-, and 5-subject college ruled sheets, a ruler, and colorful post-it's for UNDER $6 each!! There are a lot of color options too, great for color coordinating for a new school year. I can never find spiral notebooks that covers the spirals anywhere else... And possibly not at a great deal like here. If I had to compare all the things I need to buy for back-to-school, like Fishers or Walmart, OfficeMax is definitely my go-to. Can be a pretty good place to shop for home, school, office, and business supplies. Sales can be reasonable but like every place else, just have to know your prices. In my opinion, Fisher Hawaii down the street sometimes will beat quality and price; however, there are items and brands that Fisher does not carry and vice versa. You really just have to take a walk up and down both store's aisles to check out what's different. If you're looking to save $$$ in the long run, it can be very much worth the time and trouble. OfficeMax has a membership club now, btw. Incidentally, I got a $10 reward to use on my next $20 purchase. Just have to figure out what I need next...hmmm... I needed some office items immediately, like yesterday. At four in the morning I was online looking to see if I could purchase them. I saw their app for ordering online and picking up at the store. I was shocked. I wanted to order four items which the store had in stock but decided to go down to the store myself because I have some questions anyway. They promise they will get your parcels ready for you and you can pay online and just drop by and pick them up. The staff was very helpful and very kind and polite. Best of all, they are knowledgeable about their inventory which makes my job a whole lot easier. Another reason I went down myself is because they offer $20 discount on any $50 purchase. But I wasn't able to access the coupon online. I mentioned it to the sales clerk and he said, "we will honor whatever offer you had" so I showed him the add and sure enough they honored it! I bought $50 worth of merchandise which I needed and he gave me $20 off. Going back to them for sure. On the many dozens of times I've been to Office Depot, finding competent help was always a problem. Staff called upon each other to help me and none of them was more intelligent or articulate than the next. When I go to an office store I need for someone to point out exactly where I can find their items. I don't live there, I don't know their system, I don't know where paperclips are compared to pens. And then to when I ask them about a printer, the differences in price, etc. you get the idea, they'll give me different answers. If I asked him to qualify a product they can't tell me which one is better by virtue or description. One being almost the same cost as another their simple answer is "they're both pretty much the same" without bothering to give me details. That's certainly not the kind of help I need. Further, I used to earn a lot of points accrued for free items only to find out that they had expired. I don't like that. I came to OfficeMax on March 23, 2016 due to the lack of customer service I received at the Apple Store. I was in the market for a computer and Nando was very helpful. He directed me to some great deals and we quickly closed the deal. I soon experienced problems with connectivity with the internet. I called them and the computer support folks and had to return to the store because the computer support was useless. After I left the store, I experienced connectivity issues again and called the store. No one called me back so I called the next day and was told to call support who again couldn't help me. I was not happy because I'd only had the computer less than a week and had only tried to get onto the internet twice. It is now June 26th and I still have not been able to rectify this computer issue. No one calls me back and when I called them for the fourth time they gave me an email for a district manager. That's all fine and dandy, but my email isn't going to work when I can't get an internet connection. The people at OfficeMax really suck. When I bought my last three computers from WalMart they work from the get-go and I didn't have any issues until I wanted to upgrade them. Dont use the postal services. No training. Post office USPS service did not know how to weigh the box, calculate insurance or had ever heard of a return receipt. It took 25 minutes to find this out and because she could not do a return signed receipt that is standard USPS service I could not mail the package. Needed ink. Noticed my HP 61 ink is cheaper here than Wal-mart. I decided to try this store because my sister( who lives in Iowa) raved about the recycling program that pays $2 for each empty cartridge! I was doing laundry, so I decided to try the shop on- line, pick up in store. I completed my order at 5:23 and received ready for pick-up email at 5:59, just as my things were coming out of the dryer. Perfect timing.
