I've passed by this place a bunch of times, always looks warm and homey. Today I stopped for lunch. My first trepidation was the menu, it's your typical big Greek diner menu. The service is excellent and I couldn't have asked for more with my waitress except the specials she suggested. But that's her job. I went with the "pot roast" special, soup and two sides. What I got were some slices of beef, obviously pre-cooked, a long time ago. The soup was canned and tasteless. The side vegetables were good. And rolls were recently defrosted. $16.XX plus tip. While the name is more evocative of oil rigs and shady bank accounts than home fries and corn beef hash, this little diner in Bay Ridge makes a great breakfast. I came here with a group of 6 people and everyone was pleased with their meal. The eggs were cooked perfectly, pancakes were fluffy and served with real maple syrup, the home fries were home made and delicious, and service was friendly and attentive even though there were only two waitresses for the restaurant and it was a busy Sunday morning. If I have one complaint, it is that the bacon is a bit limp and greasy. I tend to like mine on the crispy side. Overall though I would recommend this place for breakfast if you happen to be down in Bay Ridge. read more

I would actually give this place a 2 1/2 star. Came in here for breakfast and no one came to greet us to a table so we found an empty table and sat in it. We never got a cup of water as a starter and waited for someone to take our order for a good 10 min. The table next time us came in about the same time as us and they had their order taken and served before they took our order. (**) They have a large selection of food to choose from and the price was right. I had the Belgian waffle with bacon and it was good. It was very moist in the inside and the outside was crispy. I also ordered the bacon, sausage and ham omelet and it came with potatoes and a toast. I would say the potatoes were most flavored, but they could have made it a little bit more brown to get that toasted flavor on it. I also ordered the lemonade, but it was really water down so I don't recommend getting that. The orange juice was freshly squeezed so I recommend getting that instead. (***) The interior was a bit old fashion. I think they wanted to preserve the old school look. It felt like a grandpa/grandma kind of shop. I love having breakfast over here! Always the same and never disappoints me. And the price is awesome. Meals are always a value for your money. Breakfast comes with coffee and juice. Meals come with soup and veggies. Love it! There's a wide variety of choices of dishes for every meal. Personal favorites are the french toast, steak and turkey burger. Not all at once, of course :) Service is not the best. Sometimes, it's good. Sometimes, it's just okay. But you'll always feel welcome, definitely. read more

I've tried Pegasus restaurant, also located in the area, but wanted to branch out. Off Shore serves the basic diner food, with attentive wait staff and friendly smiles (at least from my waitress, the blonde was not as smiley and she plopped down the bill before my dad was done with his sandwich. In contrast, the blonde seem to be doing much better at the other tables with the kids and the old grandmas, so I'm going to call it a wash and say service was still good). It's not the cheapest or the most delicious, (my old fashion french toast actually served up a little soggier inside than I would've liked, the coffee was a little weak, but their OJ is freshly squeezed and the BLT is satisfying). I might keep an eye out for other specialty brunch places in the area, but if I'm looking for a basic diner Bay Ridge, I would definitely return to Off Shore. read more

Everyone is raving about this place's breakfast - which is great! But when I searched and found their menu online, it didn't have any breakfast options. Just lunch/dinner options. Odd. I'll have to return for a sit-down breakfast. I actually called in a pick-up order for a chicken gyro and a chicken souvlaki. Their chicken souvlaki is phenomenal (5 stars). Marinated chicken, with fresh lettuce, tomato, onions, and tatziki on soft flatbread. I will definitely be returning for this. Their chicken gyro is the most bizarre excuse for a gyro I've ever seen. Imagine, if you can, Oscar Meyer cold cut bologna slices... just, chicken flavored. They have pre-packaged (or frozen) "slices" of "gyro meat" (though it looks more like something pumped out of a factory), shaped into ovals that they fry in a pan before putting on bread! That is certainly not a gyro in my book. It tastes as bizarre as it sounds. Definitely will not be ordering that again. Enjoy the souvlaki, avoid the gyro! Side note: Don't expect to get extra tatziki if you ask for it. read more

I stopped by here for a late lunch. and while the service was all right. The World Cup game was on. Offshore though is a regular diner. I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich, and it was really not that good. The meat felt really dry, and the fries were standard diner fries.. so this restaurant is just one of the many choices of Bay Ridge for eating. The price was all right for what I paid for. Which was an even $10, tip included. This was a random place I stopped by, not sure if I'll look for somewhere else to eat next time. read more

A good little diner. Fills up fast. When I went I had an excellent Irish waitress who was friendly and closed the blinds from the morning sun going in my eyes before I even needed to ask her. The food was good but a lot of my pet peeves were evident such as not 'real maple' syrup (I dont want to drink brown corn syrup) and low quality cheddar that doesnt melt properly. There are 9-10 old-school style diners in Bay Ridge and I've found this to be one of the reliable ones. Extensive menu and classic preparation/presentation. Generous portions--low prices as a diner should always have--and speedy delivery. Naturally--depending on your taste--you might not get precisely the flavor you're seeking on some unusual specialty item. But look how many standard dishes are available. Stick with something simple and you will never go wrong at Offshore. They do all the most regular, common orders very well. read more

I don't go out of my way to leave bad reviews but this place deserves it. I didn't receive my full order and the lady basically called me a liar. Must be family owned because the waitress Sofia is has an attitude and gets away with it. She yelled at a customer for taking extra napkins to wipe her nose once. Delicious and good service. Unlike the Pegasus Diner I tried to go to down the street, Offshore Restaurant has a staff that is attentive and quick. I have come twice in the past month to Offshore for the breakfast that is served all day. The prices seem a bit cheaper before 11am for the breakfast, but you can get large portions all day. Pancakes with meat choice (I suggest the flavorful sausage) are about $6.10. When you walk in you can sit where you'd like and you will be immediately brought a menu and adjustments will be made to your place setting. Giving this place a five because the pancakes were so flavorful and delicious, the portions plentiful. Only complaint I had is that one time I came the syrup was not as sweet as it should have been, but the owner/manager quickly replaced it. I highly recommend Offshore. It's worth saving the time and dishes at home. read more

I usually save this place for my long run days because I like to treat myself after, but I've also had their veggie omelette w/o cheese & it is very good. Only issue is that their menu is not labeled consistently - in one place the veggie omelette is labeled w/ cheese & in another place it says w/o. If you don't specify if you would like cheese in that omelette, you don't know what you're getting. read more

I'd love for my neighborhood old-school diner to do well but after a few times giving this place a chance I have to give up. Today's waitress is polite enough for a Saturday morning, but that's it for the positive. There's a smell in my booth that's nauseating me, not at all made better by the waitress's overwhelming perfume. And they must know my coffee is bad because they haven't offered to refill it. As for breakfast I asked for scrambled and got over easy/raw instead...laid open-casket on top of my bland, undercooked waffle. After moving the bodies to another plate which I had to get up to ask for, I attempted to revive my waffle with the syrup that came in a dispenser that's not been washed since I was a kid. No shock - the syrup is equally dull and somehow I'd guess watered-down. So I called time of death 8:15am and asked for the check. Not surprisingly they didn't ask why I'd eaten less than half of my breakfast so again I assume they must know. On the bright side they saved me from enjoying a cheat meal so my fitness goals are still on track. read more

Terrible delivery service. Went to an infectious disease specialist and was diagnosed with E Hystolica and Whipworms. Definitely caught these things eating from here.. The french fries that were delivered had strange white globby molds on it, didn't think anything of it at first until I ended up in the ER. If you care about your health I HIGHLY SUGGEST AVOIDING this place, the cooking conditions must be filthy and the delivery guy had a very sinister look on his face, was rude, and didn't say anything but grin and smirk when handing the food over. Diner food is diner food. Nothing speculator so that's when I see what would make or break it for me as to whether I will return to an establishment. The lady who was smacking her gum took my order and before I was even finished with my order, she started to walk backwards to place my order with the chefs. What if I wanted more items? Little did she know I wasn't finished with my order, but you know what, with behavior like that, I didn't bother to finish my order. Plus she didn't care to ask if I wanted anything else. I also don't appreciate having to yell my order across the long distance AND when I placed my order, she looked at me like..... Huh? What did you want to order? I don't know, maybe I am over reacting, but I doubt I would go back to Offshore anytime soon. There are many other diners in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. I hate to leave a negative review anywhere especially when the staff is so nice but breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and usually the best from diner. However, this one not too much. The place was clean and comfortable, the portions a nice size and as previously mentioned the staff were very friendly. I had the pancakes deluxe which came with 3 large pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 links of sausage, 2 pieces of bacon & a slice or 2 of ham. I ordered my eggs over and they came out fried. A little disappointing but it happens. The pancakes were thick which isn't my preference but I can deal but they were also bland. The bacon & sausage were deep fried and the bacon had no flavor at all. I'm not big on sausage to start so I didn't have high hopes for it, and found it had a funky aftertaste. I'm glad my companions and I also ordered a side of homefries which I ate with my eggs and little else. Also, the coffee was disappointing. I've always found diner coffee to be delish and this just wasn't. My companions seemed to enjoy their food, I'm the picky one :-/ read more
