It's important to know that this is not free like traditional temples. They describe it as "modern Buddhism," which means they charge $15 per class. The first time I attended, I noticed a donation box and assumed it was donation-based. On my second visit, I felt uncomfortable when I was asked after the session whether I had signed up or paid in advance. It caught me off guard, and I ended up paying out of anxiety due to the lack of clarity. My main concern is that it presents itself in a way that feels similar to traditional Buddhism (the num outfit and statues), but operates differently by charging per class. In my experience growing up around Buddhist temples, meditation was always offered freely, with donations being optional. That said, the environment and community here are positive--it's just important for others to understand that it is structured as a paid class rather than a donation-based temple setting. I prob won't be returning due to this reason because I like hot yoga so at least paying for a workout and meditation all in one. Thanks for the experience here anyway Kadampa!

Those sessions helped me know this is definitely who I want to work with and helped me prepare when I was struggling. She is very talented and genuine. I'm so grateful to have a teacher that has so much knowledge but who also makes her students feel comfortable. She is natural in how she interacts with us and provides us with the answers needed. I always come back from an immersion feeling like I have what I needed, never wishing I had asked another question. Even if I didn't ask the question, she seems to be aligned with what we needed to hear. A buddy of mine in Boston suggested I check out Fo Guang Shan temples and so today, I made my way here and so glad I did. All the staff here, including the nuns were wonderful. I gave my blessings to Buddhist deities but also honoring my ancestors too. The temple is on the second floor and not suggested to take photos, out of respect. I then bought some wonderful items to support the temple including Buddhist bracelets, a stuffed Lunar New Year horse, and some Buddhist ornaments (maybe thats what they are called). Met a wonderful sister who volunteered with the temple and other temple goers today. Also had a lovely vegetarian lunch with new friends and Buddhist practitioners. I feel very blessed on this 1st day of the Lunar New Year 2026 to spend it here. Thank you for making my heart full and happy.
