I know some people will like the vibe of this coffee shop, but it is not my vibe. The layout is very creative, with a set of high school bleachers reminiscence seating, but also window seating if you don't mind being observed or people watching. My friend had a cappuccino and I had a macchiato, both which were fine/good. Nothing was particularly aesthetic so I had not remembered to take any photos. Everything is overpriced. The rose matcha is really high quality and could tell they pay attention to detail. The matcha was really dense and not too sweet. And the froth was really creamy so it went well with the matcha. It did take a long time for the matcha to come out since there were a lot of people and I could see that they were taking their time making each latte. I love matcha and I usually make my own matcha every morning. Though sometimes I like to go buy it and check out coffee/matcha shops. I was not disappointed at all with this place. My boyfriend had the aero pressed coffee I believe? It was a pour over Salvador origin I think. Ambience was nice. Saw a lot of people being able to do their work, or socialize. Lots of seating areas, and waiting for order areas too. I didn't stay, I took mine to go. Though I felt comfortable to sit while waiting for my drink to be ready. Food came out in 10 minutes or less, store is neatly designed and has a lot of cool places to sit, not like an ordinary sit down place. My everything bagel was pretty good, could have been toasted a little more, the seeds were a little funky. There is absolutely no ketchup in the entire establishment, that's a deal breaker. Seriously confused how they'd charge ~6 dollars for beverages and then have the customer finish making it on their own barista counter. I ended up adding my own milk, it awkwardly spilled and leaked out the side, no staff assisted me, and I had to stir it and essentially paid to finish making my own order. Ogawa-- you're in a business heavy neighborhood. Your patrons don't have the time or desire to pay to make their own orders and deal with awkward, unfinished drinks. I'd expect this service if I ordered a coffee at a 7/11, not a higher end indie shop. Probably not coming back. read more

I tried the hojicha latte (only 1 size available) and it was reminiscent of seaweed. I could not finish it. My new favorite coffee shop for matcha lattes!! Came here for breakfast 2 out of 4 days during my time in Boston. On the first day, I ordered their smoked salmon avocado stack as well as their Vietnamese iced coffee, both of which were delicious. I went back the second day for their renowned matcha rose latte, which did not disappoint !! The presentation was wonderful, and flavor-wise the latte was the perfect level of sweetness, and had a well balanced blend of both floral and matcha flavor. The smoked salmon bagel was so good as well, it was definitely filling but wasn't heavy at all on the tummy. Staff was super nice and overall the shop is very cozy and simplistic. best hojicha latte in the city!! Hands down. Their iced matcha is also incredible, but I highly highly recommend trying their hojicha latte (with oat milk is what I prefer!) if you like matcha. Their bacon, avocado, + egg sandwich is also delicious!! It comes with this sweet chili Mayo sauce which (to my surprise) pairs so well with the savory saltiness of the bacon + egg. Ambience is nice, there's not a ton of seating but I've always managed to find a spot although it can get quite busy at times. No nearby parking (common in this area unfortunately). I ordered the hot smoked maple latte ($7.75) with almond milk and the total came out to ~$9. The latte was GOOD, the foam was super creamy and the espresso was not bitter at all. The drink was smoky and rich, but not too sweet. Ogawa is definitely a specialty coffeeshop if you want a treat, but not super affordable as an everyday go-to. The inside is nice to work in, though a little crowded on the Monday afternoon I visited. They have good wifi and the music's not too loud. She got the Avocado Toast and Matcha Tea Latte, my son got the hot chocolate and a chocolate croissant and I got the mocha latte. We buy ceremonial grade matcha tea from Japan on a subscription and for some reason we thought this would be better. Don't get me wrong, both lattes were good. I really could eat this for breakfast or lunch everyday! The chocolate croissant which was your everyday garden variety was warmed to the right temperature to keep it flaky on the outside yet just warm enough to melt the chocolate on the inside. I always love coming here when I am in the area! I stopped by on a Saturday morning at 10am and it was already very packed, there were some random solo seats available here and there which worked out well since it was just myself. While I was here I ordered their matcha & flowers which I think is a limited time spring offering, you can't control the sugar but it was still as good as their original matcha with an additional floral sweetener.
