    Farmer's Choice on bagel
    Josh S.

Firstly, parking is very limited on the street and nearby, so this spot is probably best if you're getting here on foot. Although it was busy on a Sunday morning, I felt like they took our order pretty quickly. They speed to get our coffees and food wasn't awful. The breakfast burritos are spicy because of the salsa. They're also a little messy since the salsa is juicy and drips out - just a word to the wise to grab napkins and be prepared. Coffees, including a latte and cold brews, were solid. No complaints. Seating was fine and I noticed they have a nice little patio outside with tables and chairs, but we dined inside this time.

Banana bread, zucchini walnut muffin, lemon poppyseed scone and cappuccino

Conveniently located next to Mass Ave station, it's a cute coffee/breakfast/lunch spot that gets super busy after 9am. Pastries are decently priced - I paid $3.15 for the zucchini walnut muffin. It was moist and not overly sweet. Lemon poppyseed scone was a tad dry and the glazed on top was not necessary. It was already sweet. For $0.95 more, you can ask for almond instead of regular milk for coffee drinks. Strong coffee (how I like it :) ) Free WiFi. Ask staff for code to use bathroom. Squeaky clean by the way! Friendly staff with cozy indoor and outdoor spaces. The line gets super long, outside the door but it moves fast. Order ahead if you're press for time. I would definitely return for lunch options

Fast, friendly service and very delicious coffee. I had an oat milk banana bread latte and my sis had a flat white. Both were fabulous. She also had a toasted bagel while I had an egg breakfast sandwich. Relatively cheap and definitely good. Gets a bit crowded inside but it's cozy and pleasant all the same. Will definitely return.

Everything egg and cheese bagel with onions, arugula, and roasted sweet potatoes added.

Went here and ordered an egg and cheese everything bagel with onion, arugula, and roasted sweet potatoes added on. There were a lot of people here. The staff were kind, however, it took an exceedingly long time to receive the food. Other than the wait time, the bagel was great and very filling.

The cafe feels homey and is good for studying! There's messages on the walls from visitors and there are pillowed crates to sit on, window nooks, and an outdoor seating area. The indoor seating area felt very cramped though, I wish they had more table space instead of window counters. The free wifi is nice though. In terms of food & drinks, those were a bit disappointing. The croissant tasted stale but the Lavender Honey Latte was decent. My friend got the Matcha Spritz and we thought it would have more spritz from the seltzer. But the spritz feeling came in the form of a ginger-flavored singe on our throats. Overall, nice vibes & friendly staff but you can definitely get better drink & pastries elsewhere.

    Ambiance of Farmers Horse coffee

After five unforgettable years in Boston, I'm getting ready to start a new chapter in another state for work. Leaving isn't easy. I'll miss this city deeply--its streets, its energy, and places like Farmers Horse Coffee that quietly become part of your life. Boston is where I went to school, where I fell in love, and where I slowly grew into the person I am today. I'm writing this review because of a memory I'll carry with me forever, maybe the best day of all my years here. Last February, I had a date at Farmers Horse. It was the first time we ever met in person. We sat outside on the patio, even in the middle of winter, warm beneath the clear covering. My date was from another university and so handsome it felt almost unreal. As we talked, snow began to fall. Soft flakes landed on the transparent roof above us, and the evergreens around the patio slowly turned white. The music playing felt perfectly chosen--gentle, warm, and somehow in sync with the moment. Time slowed down. It felt like sitting inside a snow globe, sharing coffee and stories while the rest of the world quietly disappeared. It was peaceful, magical, and a moment I wished could last forever. Now, as life pulls us toward different cities, I know I'll never forget that day--or Boston. Farmers Horse Coffee will always be the place where one of my most beautiful memories began.

What a cool looking nook for a coffee place on mass Avenue! It has a nice rustic antique field to it and it's a good place to just keep a low profile and have a cup of coffee. I really enjoyed my Matcha latte. I would love to go back here again to try some of the baked goods.

    Farmer's Choice Sandwich, Matcha Latte

Farmer's Horse is one my favorite cafes in Boston. They have so many drink options, and they are all delicious - and I love how they have unique flavors that are constantly rotating! I also have to say that their matcha latte is one of my favorites in Boston. Their food is also quite good - I tried their Farmer's Choice breakfast sandwich, and I enjoyed it, but their drinks are what make this place a 5. I also love how the place is well priced - it's hard to find decently priced coffee around the area, but Farmer's Horse is very decently priced. Their pastries are also great! As for the cafe itself, it's very small and cozy and has a cute vibe, but the problem is that sometimes it can get overly crowded. But when there's a spot to sit, I really enjoy the atmosphere and feel of it. The servers are all extremely friendly and always make me feel welcome - my only complaint would be that the orders take a while to be completed - but other than that, no complaints at all. Farmer's Horse is always my go to spot for a great coffee - I love it!

    Breakfast burrito

We stopped off for a quick breakfast and coffee on a Saturday morning. The front set up could be improved. As soon as you walk in, the cashier is in front of you and there's a baked goods case to the right. You have some folks looking at the baked goods, some folks in line, and others waiting for their order. One lady apologized to us for cutting in front of us as we were waiting in line to order which wasn't a big deal. Anyway, almost all of their baked goods are home made which was a disadvantage to me as I'm minimizing processed wheat and sugar from my diet. One person in my party had the banana nut bread and said it was good with a lot of nuts (which I would have enjoyed a lot). About the only thing I could order was the breakfast burrito. I minimally ate the flour tortilla but it had lots of nice things like eggs, beans, and cheese. However, there were two problems. The salsa was spicy hot (which isn't stated on the menu) and overall, it wasn't tasty at all. Perhaps they meant for some flavor to be imparted by the salsa but honestly it wasn't. It had heat but hardly any salt. It doesn't seem like they seasoned the eggs or the beans either which is a cooking mistake (not seasoning the components of a dish). So the heat didn't bother me but another person in my party couldn't take it so I ended up having about 1 1/2 burritos. We had a drip coffee, an iced matcha, and a chai which were all decent.

    Strawberry Vanilla Latte special

A nice cozy coffee shop hidden away next to the T stop. The warm and welcoming decor invites you to sit awhile and enjoy your coffee. There is even a greenhouse to keep you warm if you want to enjoy the fresh air on a sunny day. I ordered the strawberry vanilla latte , and it was fine. I didn't get much flavoring but it still ended up being a quality latte. There are all kinds of specials for drinks and food that don't show up on the website menu. It wasn't too busy for a Friday afternoon. Mostly Northeastern students working on their laptops. They do have wifi but I couldn't connect to it. Luckily I have Comcast so I could get onto a separate Xfinity wifi. Not really any parking on Mass Ave but if you swing around to Huntington Ave, you should be able to find a few spots.

Iced Coffee with Oat Milk & salted caramel!
    Jenny T.

Despite having graduated from Northeastern, I had never stopped by this super cute café near campus -- however I had heard SO much hype about this place and now I 110% get why bb This iced coffee with oat milk & salted caramel was delicious! I'm not a latte person so I definitely prefer iced coffee with creamer/milk and this was sooo good - I also am not a big Dunkin/Starbucks person either hah as I prefer making my coffee at home so this was definitely a pleasant surprise and worth the (almost) $7... (another reason why I prefer making coffee at home). Also, the cashier staff/baristas were super friendly! The store is also really cute hehe it was a nice stop on my way to the Mass Ave T stop for sure.

I went with two scoops, black raspberry and brownie chocolate, and the brownie was killer. Rich, chocolatey, and totally worth standing outside in 30 degree weather to eat it. I said, "Yes please, I'd like M&Ms." The server, and another person working behind the counter, both told me that they just ran out of M&Ms. They didn't have any more. This was weird to me. As I was walking to the the shop, I passed a person who had a small cup of ice cream with both m&m's and oreo topping. Okay, I thought. That's weird but so be it. Then, I scootch over to look at the rest of the toppings and what do I see? M&Ms. I point out the M&M's to the employee and ask, "hey, aren't those M&M's?" They mumbled something back that I didn't exactly catch. They either said "those are closed" or "those are skittles" or "it's not those". "those are closed" makes no sense because they asked if I wanted toppings and it was 2 and a half hours before they closed. "those are skittles" makes no sense because they don't carry skittles as a topping... The whole experience was perplexing to me. Anyways, JP Licks is pretty overrated and too expensive. $6.5+ for the smallest size is not worth it. They have some decent flavors (cookies n' cake batter) though and the ice cream is usually pretty well executed and not icy. still, not really a place i'd recommend and won't be going back for a while after this freak incident. Attached photos are the proof that they had M&Ms. Note the "M" on the candy and the blue colored candies (they don't make blue skittles)

We sat outside in the little courtyard and it's a mix of magical and relaxing! There were only a few tables, so it wasn't overcrowded and with nice weather, it was perfect. We walked into a building with the kind of architectural character that chain bookstores cannot manufacture, with small rooms opening into each other across multiple floors, wallpapered walls, and reading nooks distributed throughout that invite you to slow down rather than move through quickly. The book selection is well curated with staff recommendation cards on the shelves that actually reflect genuine enthusiasm rather than perfunctory notes. We saw limited edition hardcovers and local and regional titles appearing alongside the broader fiction and nonfiction selection. Browsing felt productive rather than overwhelming because the curation kept things focused. The kids section upstairs is one of the more delightful in Boston, with a train running along a track near the ceiling that tends to make a strong impression on younger visitors. There is also an art print vending machine on the second floor that draws its own audience of visitors looking for something small and specific to take home. The cafe occupies the lower level and operates as a separate experience from the bookshop above. We ordered the oat milk cappuccino with Vermont maple syrup, which was worth it. The morning glory scone and the popovers are two other items to consider. The cafe is tiny, around eight tables inside with a small patio, and reservations are recommended for breakfast and afternoon tea service. Pricing at the cafe is on the higher end, and certain fixed price service formats on specific dates push it considerably further, so checking current pricing before booking is worth doing. For a bookshop that doubles as a destination in its own right, Beacon Hill Books and Cafe delivers a cozy, curated experience that rewards lingering. It is the kind of place we would return to just to sit and read with a good coffee.
