I'm a very satisfied 73-year-old, 11-year tenant at Ogden Villas, and thought it was about time to update my review. What thankfully HASN'T changed? Most importantly, my current neighbors are the quietest, best people possible. And, the Ogden Villas team continues to solve maintenance problems through competence, teamwork, and communication better than any apartment complex I've ever lived at -- hence, my $28 NV Energy bill for May in Las Vegas. Now what HAS changed? Over the past 11 years, with most large apartment complexes owned by institutional investors, real estate investment trusts (REITs), or major property management corporations, the industry has shifted heavily toward revenue maximization, meaning changes reflect standard operating procedures for corporate-owned real estate. During my 11 years at Ogden Villas, I've seen a change to online-only rent payments, a new $5/month mandatory universal parcel charge, conversion to app-only laundry, and the zero-tolerance policy for feeding the beautiful feral cats that have been here for years as well. Changing the subject, if my bicycle ever were to get stolen again, I'd replace it with a girls' bike to avoid climbing over the bar with my bad hip. DONE! Adopting the same mentality for apartments, if I were to ever move (highly doubtful), it would be to a mom-and-pop apartment complex -- paying rent by check, zero universal parcel charges, and coin-operated laundry facilities for starters ... like the good ole days at Ogden Villas. MY CONCLUSION: I feel extremely fortunate having Jackie as Property Manager for the past 3 years. She's always willing to go above and beyond to help me. For example, Jackie giving me an endless supply of dressing while I was twice recovering from skin cancer surgery went way beyond tenant-centered consideration. And especially as our Property Manager, JACKIE IS LOGICAL. So am I. Therefore, Ogden Villas would still be my first choice among the corporate-owned apartment complexes in Las Vegas, thank you. read more
