Lobster Stew, tastes good, very small portion of Lobster in it for $49.00. Greasy cold green beans.
    Eileen K.

There were 4 of us. One had Lobster Stew, the rest had Lobsters that they picked out from the pound. The food was just ok, lobsters a little over cooked, $49 for the Lobster Stew, it had good flavor but there wasn't even half a lobster in it. The green beans were greasy and cold, mashed potatoes were cold, baked potato was ok but a little hard in the middle, baked beans were as expected. The place is very dirty, tables are sticky, floors are filthy, bathrooms are grimy, our server was nice at first but then after taking the order she was unattentive and we barely saw her. While waiting for our table we watched a woman putting dirty dishes and glasses in the garbage bins and her fingers were inside the dirty cups as she cleared the table, she then went to the bar, did not wash her hands, cut up limes, used her bare unwashed hands to put the limes in a container and then made drinks and garnished them with the germy limes. we tried to talk to the older woman at the cash registers, she had her hair pulled back, it may have been white or bleached blonde. She was very rude and gave us a snooty look. We were being polite, her attitude was very nasty, she may have been a manager. We walked out calmly after paying our bill and will never be back to this dirty, germ filled restaurant. Do yourselves a favor and don't go to this filthy place. There are many others restaurants in Ogunquit, York and Wells where you can get Lobster that are far superior to this place and much less expensive too.

I have been dining at the Ogunquit Lobster Pound regularly for over 10 years, so it's time to update my review. I have gotten to know Brian, Natasha and some of the other staff members. The OLP is our favorite restaurant in Ogunquit. The sprawling rustic dining room reminds my wife of sleep away camp. It's a cross between a lobster shack and a traditional restaurant. There's a busy bar and table service, but you go outside to the lobster tank to order lobsters and steamers. The food is excellent. The meal always starts off with freshly baked rolls. Cocktails are generous. The lobster and steamed clams never disappoint. The staff of lobster ninjas pre crack the shells so that you can dismantle your lobster with a wooden pick. One of my kids and some of our friends don't eat lobster. They have been happy with the other entrees, especially the steak and steak tips. The side dishes are surprisingly good. We are always too full for dessert. This is not a perfect restaurant experience. There are no reservations and the waits can be long. Sometimes things don't arrive in sync. I still love this big hearted restaurant where the staff are so nice and all of the important things are done excellently. This place is one of my Ogunquit touchstones.

Food was wonderful. We got 2 lobster rolls and a 1-1/4 lb lobster. All were very good. Service was very slow. Dinner Rolls were very late coming out to the table. You go out to the tank and pick your lobster and they bring it pre cracked for you. I thought it would be cleaned of the green stuff inside and it was not. Later told I could have asked for it to be cleaned.

8-8-25. This is an updated review. I feel that the quality has suffered over the years, but this is the first time I was actually disappointed after leaving here. For starters, the restaurant was severely understaffed. The wait staff were bussing there own tables, bringing out bread baskets themselves and just doing too many things to keep up. Because of this, orders were incorrect or forgotten and wait times on certain items were delayed. Even the drink orders and refills were lacking. The kitchen staff seemed like they were trying to pay attention to multiple things at the same time. The steak (which was usually spot on) was over charred on the outside and was burnt. The stuffed shrimp were dry and the chicken wings appetizer were so overdone that they weren't even edible. One of the people in my party ordered a salad with steak and the steak was also so burnt that it was inedible. I'm keeping this updated review at 3 stars because our waitress was working her a$s off and I noticed that she did not stop from the moment we were seated until the moment we left. In fact, all the servers were hustling around and doing what was necessary but they just couldn't keep up. I really hope I visited on an off night because I've been vacationing up in this area for many years and always looked forward to coming here, but the last few times, I just felt like the quality and attention to detail wasn't as good. When you're paying a premium price for your food, you don't want to leave disappointed.

No pics of the food, because it was a pick dispatched lol! The lobster stew is officially on my death row list, because holy lord that was fantastic! The haddock was perfectly cooked, and the brownie sundae desert? Dreaming of it. The service, ambience, and atmosphere was amazing! Loved getting to look at the little lobster tank outside. We will definitely be back!

I've been coming to the Lobster Pound since I was a young girl and it never disappoints. This time, it had been quite a while since we had been here and wow, was it nice to be back. Cailey was our server in the lounge section of the restaurant and it was a wonderful meal. Cailey was so helpful and she is an outstanding server! Now for the food... We enjoyed our lobster rolls, both warmed with butter. Lots of fresh, delicious Lobster meat and a scrumptious bun. The cole slaw was fresh and crunchy and even the ridge chips were crunchy goodness. And to top it off for dessert, we had the wild blueberry Deep Dish pie. Make sure you leave room for this signature dish. It looks so unassuming, but I can promise you, you'll be dreaming about this little precious pie! It' was so good. What a treat it was to be back to The Lobster House. I can't wait to come back again sometime soon. Thank you Cailey for making our visit to The Lobster Pound so special.

Easy for a casual and entertaining lobster. Pick out your own and 15 minutes later enjoy! Wouldn't go for anything but lobster and steamers.

Seating: Footbridge js TAKE OUT ONLY with a big window you walk up to order and pickup. There are some benches nearby you might get lucky or you can stand by the bridge and eat. Lobster shack has seating and bathrooms. Price: On a Monday post lunch hour, I ordered the Lobster roll with clam chowder soup. Foot bridge is cheaper if you buy the combo outside of the lunch special hour compared to lobster shack. If you buy during lunch hour, they both are about similar in pricing. FOOD: The biggest difference between the two was TEXTURE. Footbridge offered a bouncy/chewier texture while Lobster Shack offered a softer easier to pull apart lobster. Secondly, the bread is slightly smaller at footbridge but the meat is 5oz almost singular piece versus lobster rolls multiple smaller pieces. Clam chowder was similar in the sense that footbridge had a thicker milkier consistency like most New England clam chowder while Lobster shack had more meat/substance but thinner liquid base with a somewhat coconut type taste. Both lobsters and clam chowder are unique and tasty in their own way and all boils down to preference. Lobster shack also had a pickle on the side but the price is slightly higher which all in all boils down to whether you like to chew or just wolf down that lobster roll.

What we ordered: -Cornbread: 3/5, great portion to share with the table and piping hot which I loved but wish it was moister and had more honey on top. -Caesar salad: 5/5, incredibly fresh, dressing was delicious and evenly spread among the whole salad, fresh anchovies on top were a nice touch -Crabcakes: 4.8/5, only comes with 2 but the cakes were very fresh and flavorful. The corn on top was very boring I wish they spiced it up a bit but it did not take away from the flavor of the cakes so I kept the score high. -Lobster Pappardelle: 5/5, one of my favorite meals we ate on vacation!! Generous lobster portion with perfectly cooked pappardelle in a very tasty sauce. I already miss it and wish I could eat it again. -Braised Short Rib: 3.8/5, beautiful presentation and everything tasted great but very small polenta/carrot portions and I wish the meat was more tender. It wasn't bad, it just didn't blow my socks off. -Espresso crème brûlée: 4.5/5, was the perfect birthday dessert for my boyfriend and he absolutely loved it. Quality espresso flavor, wish it was a little crispier on top. Food was ~4/5 but our overall experience was 5/5. Our server, Pedro, was so friendly and helped us with dish recommendations. When I told him we were celebrating a birthday, he brought the crème brûlée out with a candle and two other staff members to sing to him which was so sweet. We will definitely come back here next time we're in town!

We sat at a table by the window on the first floor. We overheard that there is an upstairs bar, not sure if they also seat folks for dinner there. We were able to place an order right after getting settled. We enjoyed the Sun mocktail, charred beet salad, mac and cheese, fried codd sandwich, steak frites, and corn ravioli (without the pancetta). My spouse is gluten free and I am vegetarian so we are always looking for restaurants that can accommodate both. The charred beet salad was good but I think dressed a bit too heavily. I thought the corn ravioli and sun mocktail were both great. The kids (ages 1.5 and 5) liked the Mac and cheese and fried cod sandwich. They did not have any appropriate booster seats for the 1.5 year old so my spouse held him. My spouse loved the steak frites but I think wished had a few more "frites" given the amount of interest from the younger crowd. Our waiter was wonderful and also brought some orange slices from the bar for the kids. We were very grateful. We decided to go nearby for ice cream after dinner, but I heard there is a dessert menu.

We requested a table with a view and were allowed to hang around the bar area while we waited. The wait was only about 10 minutes and the table we were given had a wonderful view of the harbor. Our waiter was at our table to take our drink order almost immediately and promptly took our food order when he arrived with our drinks. Our food came out fast and was all hot, clearly nothing had been sitting under a heat lamp at window and was brought right to our table as soon as it was ready. Pickle chips - first it's worth noting that these are not made with dill pickles, they're the sweet "bread and butter" pickles. It's not my personal preference, but some may prefer that. Either way, it probably should be mentioned on the menu. The fried pickles themselves have a perfect thickness of breading on them, which does seem to have some seasoning in it. Every one of them was crispy and the breading wasn't peeling off like it does at many other places. The dip they came with tasted like it might have been a blend of thousand island and horseradish. Fish and chips - both the fish and the fries were very fresh. The fries were definitely freshly cut and not frozen. The fish had just the right amount of perfectly crispy breading on it. Neither the fries nor the fish were soggy. The only feedback I'd have here for improvement is for the sauces. If you're going to go through the effort to use fresh fries and fish, then why use store-bought tartar sauce? I'd love to see them start making some fresh tartar and maybe even some homemade ketchup! Fried clams - My wife had the fried clams and one of her favorite reasons for coming to this restaurant is that the menu states that they don't use any hydrogenated oils in their food. She also really enjoyed her clams and found them to be crispy and flavorful.

We chose to eat here because of the huge patio, with lots of shade, that overlooks the water. The location is unbeatable, and we did not have to wait for a table on a busy summer day. Our service was also incredibly friendly, from the young men behind the ordering counter, to the waitor who served us our drinks table side. The only reason I am giving this three stars is because the food was just average. We ordered a chowder, a lobster roll, grilled cheese, and a hot dog. The grilled cheese and hotdog were good, but the lobster roll and chowder were just okay for the price. The chowder was a bit watery and not as rich as some of the others that I have had. The lobster roll was a little small and needed to be jazzed up with some more mayo or lettuce. Overall I had a really nice lunch here and would definitely return just for the location and service.
