OHHH K let's get started!!! See what I did there? So I decided to visit this Oh K-Dog location today for lunch and I must say it was a relatively decent experience. The ambience is pretty good and the staff are welcoming. So I ordered a tteokbokki with cheese, a regular hot dog, and a fruit drink. Overall it was decent however the sauce that the tteokbokki was cooked in was rather watery and I thought it would've been thicker so that's a downside. Also it is rather expensive. You pay $20 maybe even close to $30 depending on what you buy and what toppings and additions you put for your food and drinks so that's the only major disappointment. read more

My fave lil street food shop in Forest Hills! They sell both corndogs and egg toast, but I have only tried their egg toast. The original style comes with just egg, but I think it is flavorful enough to stand on its own. They have other flavors as well, such as avocado or bacon and cheese. The bread is thick and warmly toasted, topped with silky soft scrambled eggs, and a sort of sweet orange mayo-like sauce inside. A bit small if you are very hungry, but just the right size for me. My only minor complaint is the egg doesn't really reach all the way down to the bottom of the toast, and as you make your way towards the end there is a good 2 inches of bread left without any topping. There is limited seating inside so probably not the best for big groups, but I've always had no issues finding seats for 1-2 people. My sister and I came here last minute. I had no idea of what we were about to try but I surely was not disappointed. 10/10!! It was really really good with a decent amount of cheese. I still think it's way overpriced and a novelty item but it's fun to have every now and then as a snack. I've tried this place several times now. It's a small little shop with kpop playing in a big screen tv. There are a few tables and seats but it isn't big and can get crowded. The person who took our order was nice and the service has gotten quicker since the first time we tried it. We ordered the #7 which is half hot dog half cheese with flaming hot Cheetos crust. It was pretty good. The outside had a nice crunch and the spicy dusting of the Cheetos added just the right amount of heat and saltiness. The cheese is typical mozzarella and the pork hot dog is not the highest quality of hot dog you can get. The coating is crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It's also pretty thick. It's clean, bright and welcoming!! Perfect just for breakfast!! Been here a few times and I'm always greeted with great and friendly service. The restaurant had 3 tables to sit and eat and a window area. They play k pop which is cool and sometimes play music videos. We have tried the ok'classic egg toast, teriyaki beef and chicken toast, avocado egg toast, and 2 of the rice cake specials (both skewer ones). I totally recommend doing garlic toast substitute it's amazing. So filling and never have a problem coming to eat here! Saw no line so I went in for a try before it gets a bit crazy with waiting. I ordered the mozzarella dog and the half mozz and half hot dog option. Asked for a "roll" in the sugar tub to top off the crust on each dog. Very tasty and a BIG Crunch when you bite into it even after a 20 minute walk home from the restaurant. The sugar added to the experience and it taste like a sweet corn dog you get at the state fairs but just a lot more crunchy!!! There was still a real good pull with the mozzarella. I liked it and I think it's better than some of the other stores that have recently popped up serving this type of Korean style corn dogs. I would definitely give it a try if you are in the neighborhood and want a good snack. One is not really enough to call it a meal. There are a bunch of sauces to dip into to add to the experience. My first time having egg toast and definitelyyy not my last. The bread is sooo fluffy and it is STUFFED with a generous amount of toppings. I've tried both the classic and the teriyaki toast but I would say nothing beats the classic egg! I've also tried the corndog with hotdog and mozz, which was cheese pull galore! As well as the sotteok sotteok, which is a sausage and rice cake skewer. The sotteok sotteok is good but not a must if you had to choose only two of the three. The place is small and usually pretty popping, but the turnover for a seat is pretty quick since most people just eat and leave shortly after. read more

It's not typically a breakfast, brunch, or lunch spot because of their specialties however. It's really THAT iconic spot you just go to for a quick bite of deliciousness. I would choose to make the drive out here and spend 30 minutes looking for parking JUST to have their egg-toast again. If you're craving Korean food but at the same time, not the Korean food you'd typically think of - you have got to give Oh K-Dog a try. They also have various locations spread across NYC so if Forest Hills is too much of a commute then spread your wings and please support their other locations. Honestly, even their original Egg Toast was so yummy - I'm sure their other variations are just as good or possibly even better. Their corndogs are also really good - and everything comes out SO HOT which is also really good if you like your food hot and not warm-lukewarm. They also have a variety of sauces you can top your corn dog or egg toast with which is also really convenient and useful. You can make your own special sauce combination. Everything is really affordable as well and for what you get, I don't think anything is too unreasonably priced. One of the things I love about Ok dog is the do-it yourself sauce/topping station. There's definitely a lot more options here than the Manhattan location in terms of toppings (which admittedly has been a few months since I've visited so this could be false) and that really took me by surprise (and delighted me). There's not just sauces but seasonings you can sprinkle on top so you can customize and dress your food however you like. The space itself is very open and roomy. You don't feel suffocated or crammed at all. The Kpop on the tv is fun. As for taste, I feel like there was something missing with the cheese dog. I got the mozzarella sweet potato dog. The sauces really added all the flavor but I'm wondering if there was a lack of seasoning or salt in the batter or something because it really was very plain on its own. Even the sweet potato didn't hold much flavor. The chipotle Mayo was very tangy unlike what I had expected and definitely overpowered the sweet potato so I probably shouldn't have been so liberal with it lol. The avocado toast was buttery and a good size but also very plain (which I'm presuming was the intention) though I suspect the sauce counter is there to also help with that. I wish there was some chives or scallions or something in the egg to give the scramble some flavor. Otherwise it was soft and beautifully made. The avocado was actually really good. I usually find avocado to be kinda strong in flavor but this was very delicate and thinly sliced so it was almost very creamy when you took a bite. I offered it to my mom later and she basically inhaled it so it was a win. I think with the garlic toast this would've been perfect. The packaging was really great for keeping everything snug and from falling all over the place so I appreciated the consciousness of the packing. Staff was very friendly and food came out fairly quickly for something made fresh to order. Love that they have croffles now and might have to give it a go someday. read more

I had a pretty good experience at Oh-K Dog! Inside, the store is neat and pretty with minimal seating. I decided to order the potato mozzarella dog and the lady working the front was really nice. I also enjoyed the mukbang on the TV playing as I waited for my food. In terms of the food, I feel that everything is really overpriced. Over $6 for that small snack is a little too much and I don't think it's something I'd be getting on a weekly basis. Also, I recommend you cover the dog in a lot of sauce if you're getting it to go. I got a mix of a couple different sauces and when I got home, I realized that the batter and potatoes are kind of bland so I wished that I had taken advantage of the sauces more. The cheese inside was nice and stretchy even after eating it when I got home and I definitely enjoyed that! I got sugar on my dog but I don't know if I liked that- it made it overly sweet. Overall, I'm glad to have a new Asian snack place on Austin but I do wish the prices were more reasonable. read more

Korean Corndogs has really been trending in the States of late and I'm really excited that Forest Hills finally has added one to it's neighborhood as well. Known to be more of a street food, it's perfect for a small meal, a late-night snack, or an on-the-go bite. Ranging anywhere from $3.50 to $6 - they offer a great bang for it's buck and you can understand why it's really popular with the younger generations. It's fast food corndogs, what more can you ask for? ;) Oh K-Dog has several locations and it's a chain in the NYC area that reaches anywhere from Manhattan to Flushing. I would say that the cook on the corndogs is a little bit more on the crispier side. Like any K-dog location, they offer the standard fry, potato coating, sweet potato coatings along with mozzarella fillings and American cheese as some of their popular options inside with the dog. Nothing like that "oh-so-perfect" amazing gooey-ness! For the dairy-sensitive stomachs, they have options like the sweet potato, standard and potato coatings WITHOUT the cheese on the inside so you're covered. They also have some delicious looking korean-style egg based sandwiches which I'll definitely have to come back for. Food: We tried the sweet potato corndog as well as the squid ink mozarella corndog and I have to say both were delicious and as expected. The squid ink one was very mild and my partner could not really taste the squid ink. Probably pass on that next time. I always enjoy a good sweet potato corndog as it's a nice savory and sweet combination that I fancy. They also give you an option to roll your corndog in sugar but that's really not my preference. I'll pass on that. We also got the doboki which is a traditional korean food but it is spicy with a hint of sweetness. It's your standard doboki and nothing to rave about in my book. Atmosphere: Small shop with 2-3 tables and seating. Clean, modern, minimalistic - good vibes all around. They definitely don't have their system down yet as while they had like 5-6 people behind the counter, they just aren't pumping them out as fast as other joints I've seen so please be patient. I expect it to get better, faster and more efficient. They just opened so it's not surprising. There isn't really a large area to wait and so it becomes a bit of a mosh pit around the waiting area, condiments area and order area. So if you're waiting to order, make sure you're not mistakenly waiting behind someone who's just waiting for their food. Summary: All in all, a great way to get some decent street food style Korean K-Dog. Highly recommend starting with some of the classics like the standard mozzarella k-dogs but definitely try the potato or sweet potato versions as they offer a nice savory and sweet punch. I've been craving Korean corn dogs since I tried them back when Oh K- Dog opened in LES. This is the only chain that I've seen with a rice cake dog and it's what I always get! The outside is always fried to perfection and while the inside is chewy. I also ordered the half mozz half hot dog and two mozzarella dogs. Not only did they manage to stay warm (25 minute commute in the cold) but they were still crispy and had a cheese pull! I saw a bunch of people get the green grape slush and I would've gotten one if it wasn't so cold outside. Happy to have a Korean corn dog place in forest hills! We were driving by the area when our attention was stolen by the bright yellow sign "Oh K Dog". Lucky for us, it was still early and a parking spot was waiting for grabs. Since it was our first time to visit, we tried their classic egg toast in a garlic bread, cheddar hotdog, and a cup of peachy slush. It would have been nicer if they offered coffee to pair with their toast, but that's wishful thinking for now. For the egg toast, the garlic bread was phenomenal. The bread is fluffy on the inside and has a nice crunchy toast on the outside. Each bite is a buttery garlic goodness which I loved. The egg though, hmmm... Doesn't taste as fresh as it should. I was looking for that freshly cracked then cooked scrambled egg flavor, and it failed to deliver. The cheddar hotdog had a nice crunch to it, but we wished they had a bigger sized hotdog or something to balance the dough and filling. Overall, we give this place 4 stars for the value and service from the guy at the front who was nice to walk us through their menu. Will we be back? Of course, we will.
