Went out on a Obama Fun Fishing boat with my family. The staff were friendly, but not helpful for novices at times. I would have liked there to have been more help available for those of us that don't fish often. On the upside, there was a lot of time to fish and there was juice and water available on the boat. At the time we were on the boat, one of two bathrooms was out of order. Other than that, I would have enjoyed my time on the boat, but I got sea sick.

    A fish someone else caught.

We are visiting O'ahu on a multigenerational trip. We booked for 9 people. The location was pretty easy to find. We grabbed metered parking in the yellow zone pretty close to the pier. The staff was friendly but not helpful. Once got out to the first spot we were supposed to fish at, everyone grabbed a rod. I wasn't sure exactly what to do so I asked the helper guy. He put one piece of squid on one of the hooks (the pole has two hooks) and then turned away from me and didn't offer any other instruction. In our group, three of us knew what to do but many of us didn't. It would have been helpful if they would have come around and offered tips. We moved to a second location and people started catching fish. The novice helper came around and chatted with the kids for a bit. He encouraged us to keep trying. He was very kind. Most of our group got seasick and others seemed bored from not catching anything. About an hour in, everyone was ready to be done. Once we headed back to the pier, they started cooking up the catch. Some people that caught lots of fish (and I think the crew) were kind enough to share with those of us that didn't catch anything. I was able to try some yellowtail and OMG! I feel like I have never tasted fish before. Pros: It's cheap. The location is close to Waikiki. The views of Diamond Head are beautiful. Even if you don't catch anything, you'll still have fish for lunch. Cons: The staff weren't super helpful. The boat is small so you can feel every wave.

Worth every penny! Great fun, we caught a few fish and enjoyed the experience. If I lived here, I would go again! Don't worry if you don't know how to fish, the crew is patient and helpful and they clean the fish for you if you want to take it to eat.

This is a fish I caught. I was taught that it's called a Nabeta.

It was quite confusing to find the meetup point at the beginning, but asking the hotel staff did help us getting there. We went on the high-tide day so needed to walk a bit from the usual boarding area. Probably helpful to remind people wearing slippers as you'd need to take shoes off. They did provide proper and plenty storage spaces for your footwear on the boat (appreciated!). Drinks were pretty much bottomless and they had their very own Mai Tai so you could really enjoy the 'complete Hawaiian package'! The only problem with high tide day, it meant be prepped to get wet and going on and off the boat would be quite tricky as you needed to manage timing to avoid the tide from getting you soaking wet. I was unfortunately not the pro and literally got half-bottom wet, getting off the boat LOL. Paid off by the gorgeous sunset view!!

Second time doing this sunset cruise and it's been amazing both times. Such a fun way to be out on…read morethe water in Waikīkī! Some logistics to know about: you can get validated parking at the Embassy Suites for $15 (4 hours). If you want free street parking, you'll need to come much earlier and give yourself extra time to get to check-in. Check-in itself is super easy annd it's inside the Outrigger near Monkeypod. The staff is genuinely kind and welcoming from the start. They give a quick safety talk and then walk you down to the boat You'll step into the water to board and you're not allowed to wear shoes, so honestly don't even bother bringing any. It's a catamaran with nets to sit on (my favorite spot) plus regular seating and plenty of space to move around. Unlimited drinks are included and the crew constantly checks in to see if you need anything. Both times I've gone we've seen whales, which feels so special! It is definitely choppy so if you get seasick easily this might not be your move. If you're a water baby though, you'll thoroughly enjoy this experience! It also gets windy, so bring a jacket. If you love being on the water, sunsets, and a fun but relaxed vibe, this is such a good option. Highly recommend!

If it hadn't been for the care and compassion of Maya, I probably would've cried. I get motion sickness, but my kids were so excited about going on the submarine finally that I took Dramamine and threw caution to the wind. However, after the 15 to 20 minute boat ride over to the submarine, I'm sure my face was green. Although the submarine itself was 10 times more stable and calm and felt like the interior of an airplane, I was very concerned I was going to get sick in front of lots of strangers and had to exit the submarine very quickly. I left my tween kids there to experience the submarine by themselves, which is fine because my oldest son is on two swim Teams and basically a lifeguard. However, the boat had to come back and get me off the top of the submarine and it was very embarrassing and once again, I cannot say enough about how well the staff handled it and didn't make me feel silly. or stupid at all. I even bought some of the photos to laugh about the incident later. We had already gotten the military discount, but they offered to refund my portion of the submarine ride, which I very much appreciated. I would recommend this company to all of my friends. My sons loved seeing the 9 sea turtles & Hawaiian wildlife.
