It's located a in a small strip mall. When we arrived we were greeted and the gal and chef were very friendly. I asked for suggestions and everything we ordered was amazing. Unfortunately we ate it all before I can take a photo of it. We ordered pulled pork sliders, smoked brisket nachos, pulled pork salad w/ a lilikoi dressing that was memorable. We did a carry out order and everything was accurate. It was amazing! I can't wait to go back again!

    Inflation fee added to bill

Chris, receipt, proof attached. Was there ordered special pork belly tacos. Food is mediocre at best, paying 18$ for tacos it should wow you. Watch out for a 3.50% inflation fee when ordering from this place

    Back patio.

Passed this place a couple of times, was in a pissy mood so decided to stop and glad I did. This place is legit. Great BBQ, huge menu and lots of choices. Bonus for serving coke products. Service was friendly and quick and the ambiance in the back patio was peaceful and quiet. Will definitely be returning.

One of the big pluses of Ohana Q is location. It's definitely in the heart of town but it's doesn't share its space with a hundred other restaurants. It has a small parking lot but there were plenty of parking spaces available. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Our group of three ordered the brisket nachos, shrimp tacos, and 1/2 pound of untrimmed brisket. Everything was good. The nachos had a great mix of flavors and textures. Shrimp tacos were good sized and there were even grill marks on the tortillas. BBQ is never cheap and prices were reasonable. I'm a big BBQ fan and ordered the brisket a la carte to really appreciate it. The smoke ring was thin and it had a decent bark. The smoke flavor was minimal. I can't tell if my slices came from the same cut of brisket because a few were really tender and pulled apart easily while a few were firmer. All the slices looked like they came from the point. Regardless, I'm just nit-picking, as I enjoyed the brisket and it was good. Lastly, the Carolina sauce was great and had a nice balance of vinegar and sweet. Overall, a worthwhile visit, especially if you crave brisket!

    Not for me.

I went because the food looked really good and mainly went for the macaroni and cheese. This is just my opinion but the pulled pork was dry until i realized they have bbq sauce to put on it but they don't tell you that you have to find it yourself. Anyways when I asked for the macaroni and cheese because it says you can get rice or macaroni and cheese etc as a side the workers told me they have to type it up as macaroni potato salad whatever that shit was or coleslaw i literally just wanted macaroni and cheese like they had on the menu and posted pictures of. Food just was not good definitely not worth the price or time I wasted

    06.05.21 shave ice - coconut & mango (back) and strawberry-colada & banana
    May A.

Shave ice so good! This was our last day in the Big island and I thought I wasn't going to have a chance to enjoy a shave ice!! Lo and behold I saw Da Shack by Ohana Q while shopping at the Ali'i Garden Marketplace in Kailua Kona! Then this song "I Like It" by DeBarge came to mind... I've been thinkin' 'bout you, for quite a while You're on my mind every day and every night My every thought is you, your sweetness too Seem so satisfying to me, I must confess it, yeah! Ooh, and I like it! This is your one stop sweet treat shop: shave ice, real fruit smoothies, Italian sodas, ice cream, brownie sundaes and hot/cold coffee drinks, Hubby and I enjoyed our coconut & mango (hubby's) and my strawberry-colada & banana while relaxing underneath a huge umbrella in their outdoor seating. The server was very attentive throughout our meal. No complaints about her at all! The food was all very unique and so much so that we thought the mixing of flavors kind of odd and we weren't wild about them. Started with the white bean dip and focaccia. Pretty tasteless and I've had much better focaccia. We then had a salad of mango, tomatoes, cilantro & ricotta. So so at best. The roast chicken was very tasty, as were the crispy red potatoes, but then they had green papaya salad ( slaw-type) which was hard to chew and finally just swallow whole. It looked pretty, like angel hair pasta, but didn't taste very exciting. We are on vacation here, but won't revisit this restaurant l. Not to our liking.

The best item of the evening was the coconut shrimp. If you go here definitely give them a try. They split the shrimp, not too coconut heavy but a ton of meat and they serve it with creamy twist on the typical sweet chili sauce you usually find. The highlight of the night was our server, Keegan. He was exceptional -- knowledgeable, attentive, personable, and had the perfect balance of professionalism and genuine hospitality. He clearly knows the menu inside and out, offered thoughtful recommendations and no issues with modifications (no arugula, sauce on side etc.) & made us feel welcomed rather than just served. His timing was impeccable, and his passion for creating a great guest experience really stood out. I even made a mistake on an order and he corrected it no questions asked. Great food, stunning atmosphere, and service that elevated the entire evening. Keegan is a true asset to Kai, and we can't wait to return on our next visit to Kona!

Chef Gino is generous with both his talent and his portions. Every dish showcases fresh ingredients, expert preparation, and a genuine love of Italian cooking. The menu is seafood-forward, featuring fresh local catches, handmade pasta, and flavors that are both authentic and creative. This family-run restaurant is made even more special by Claudia, Chef Gino's wife and culinary partner. Claudia bakes fresh focaccia daily and prepares the restaurant's gnocchi and pasta from scratch. As hostess, she warmly welcomes every guest and effortlessly serves as the restaurant's "walking menu," describing each dish with passion and detail. The presentation is stunning. Lobster, octopus, shrimp, clams, scallops, and house-made pasta arrive beautifully plated and bursting with flavor. The fresh focaccia alone is worth the visit. Every meal feels thoughtfully prepared, from the first bite to the last. What keeps me coming back is that the food is genuinely craveable. I find myself dining here every couple of weeks for lunch, and more often than not, I leave with a takeout order for dinner because I know I'll be thinking about it later. Cipriano's Kitchen isn't just serving Italian food--it's creating an experience centered around family, hospitality, and exceptional cooking. Kawaihae is fortunate to have this gem, and anyone who appreciates fresh seafood, handmade pasta, and heartfelt hospitality should make it a destination. A true Big Island favorite. "Come hungry. Leave happy. Plan your next visit before you've even finished your meal."

I am happy to share that it remains a classic and unique experience for locals and visitors alike. Last night we decided to go since we were celebrating a friend's recovery from open heart surgery at Queens six weeks earlier and even though it was the July Fourth holiday weekend we had an excellent meal. Seated next to the crashing surf with a sweeping view of Kailua Bay we enjoyed cocktails as the sun slowly set. We were fortunate to be taken care of by Joe, who as it turned out had worked there 17 years and he made some good suggestions. The sizzling mushrooms were a delight. My wife had the lamb shank, and I had the pork chop. Both were amazingly tender and tasty. Our friends had the signature Teriyaki steak and pasta with Kauai prawns and ended up wishing they'd had ours. The signature steak has great flavor but flank steak is not as good as a ribeye grilled at my place, or so they told me. They are somewhat spoiled. ): But we all had a great time and were especially pleased with Joe as we went down memory lane and caught up on mutual friends. We're grateful that Eric and his team have kept this and the other restaurants they own top notch. Also well worth noting is that its employee ownership program ensures the legacy of quality will continue. Parking here is a challenge but there's free validated parking and then if you don't mind a bit of a walk there are other options.
