I was craving ramen so I told my friend to pick a place! Since it's the holidays, we wanted to avoid all the town traffic, so we ended up at Ohana Ramen! We came for lunch on a Monday and there was one table taken and another customer picking up a takeout order. I've never been here before so had no expectations. I ordered the black garlic oil tonkatsu ramen and the broth was flavorful! Noodles were okay, the chasiu was good, but their menma tasted kinda funky... it had a sweet taste to it? Not sure how to explain it but I usually love menma but not theirs. The gyoza was perfect - the bottom was lightly crispy. My son wanted to try this place out today. He had the combination meal. He chose the gyoza, ramen and chicken katsu curry. The chicken katsu was crisp and well seasoned and the ramen was satisfactory. However, I got the oxtail ramen and it was very disappointing. The broth was very bland and the oxtail unseasoned and tough. I added a little shoyu and chili oil but it didn't help. Unfortunately I only had a few bites but couldn't eat the rest. Used to frequent this place but haven't been here for 8+ years since I no longer live in Kunia anymore. We dropped by because we were in the area and craving ramen. My husband ordered his usual Combo Ramen Set with Chicken Katsu Curry Rice. I ordered the same set but with Beef Curry Rice. The food was tasty but the char siu was a little salty. The combo was filling so we ended up taking leftover curry home and had it for dinner. We'll be back! This place is located on the middle level in the Kunia Shopping Center. The server here was very friendly, restaurant is clean and there's lots of free parking. Also, if you purchase an entree during their Happy Hour from 2pm to 5pm daily, you can get either a 4 pc. gyoza or fountain drink for free. Quick and tasty! We were served in about five minutes on a Tuesday night, but they clearly prepped our ramen with care and time beforehand. My husband is in Hawaii for work right now and he has been trying out all of the different local restaurants. Today for lunch, he try out Ohana Ramen. He said the restaurant was well appointed, appeared to be very clean, and have a decent atmosphere. He said his meal was fine. It wasn't something he would definitely go out of his way to have again, but he said it wasn't bad. The portion size was decent and it was filling. This restaurant is our ohana's favorite quick comfort food. The staff is always warm and welcoming. Call in orders are very prompt for curbside pickup with easy parking. And we absolutely love ordering between 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. when it is happy hour and we receive extra gyoza (handmade, so tasty!). If there is a mistake with a to-go order, the restaurant always makes it right and goes above and beyond to have the customer leave happy. Dining inside is clean and the small restaurant almost always has an open table or quick turnaround. Bring a sweatshirt if air conditioning makes you feel chilly. read more

The combos are a good way to have things all at once. we ordered the Shoyu Ramen Combo toast came with a mini rice plate of your choice and gyoza. In our case, we ordered the mini beef katsu curry to go along with the ramen. I ordered the Oxtail Ramen and an order of Char Siu Fried Rice. In order, the Katsu curry came first... Then, the ramen, Fried Rice, Oxtail and finally the Gyoza... Good thing about this place is that they don't let your food sitting around the kitchen waiting for everything. They deliver the food as its made. Nice and hot... The only take-away is that the Oxtail Ramen broth needed a little help by itself... My doctor to this was to treat it with a tea spoon of Soy Sauce and a nice scoop of their chili oil... VIOLA! It was delicious. Ill be back. Probably about $15 more but serving size is still huge so I think it's fair. I love the fried rice and mochiko chicken from this place. The service has also improved which is appreciated. We saw this establishment tonight on Cheap eats - Guy Hagi! & Casey Lund Looks ono let's try it my husband said. Ok we go! First off all you sweaty perspiring locals I'm a type of person whose always hot - hot blooded maybe but always hot. Walked in sat down and immediately was taken back with Ahhhhh oooo this place is so cool... AC pumping ice cold air. I love it already. The Restraunt Was not crowded maybe 5-6 people eating but again it was 8:00 pm so pretty late for dinner. I ordered oxtail with ramen, my husband ordered spicy ramen I also ordered a side of calamari. My husband loved his spicy ramen i tasted the broth it was perfect to me, flavorful and just enough heat. He did t care for the bean sprouts in it though. My oxtail was soft and ok. But one thing I wish I mentioned to the owner while speaking to him (Chong) after dinner was I would omit the broccoli and think of adding ung Choi or Choy sum. The broccoli in it added an unsavory flavor. I didn't care for that. Now my calamari was THE BEST IVE EVER TASTED HANDS DOWN!! I would recommend YOU TRY THAT. I would order that all day every day. The calamari was so tasty and soft and the outer panko batter was perfect crispy and just wonderful and soooo mmmm delicious. Definitely ordering that again!! The owner Chong has a sushi establishment in Kahala called Domo Cafe looking at his IG account he was saying how he buys his fish at the auction and top graded which I definitely can see that. Its a must try soon on my list mmmm nigiri - sashimi sushi ...everything! I can't wait everything looks fresh and yummy. All in all I say try this Ohana ramen. We came here on a whim and we're glad we did! Super fast and friendly service, great selection on the menu! Variety of ramen and rice plates. Seafood Ramen and Gyoza The "seafood" in the Ramen were pieces of White Fish Fillets and several Medium sized Shrimp. The Fish fillets were more than enough to satisfy my appetite - oddly enough though there was a distinct after taste that suggests that the fish was a bottom feeder - And it's the same exact White Fish fillet that the EZOGIKU Ramen restaurant used in their Seafood Ramen recipe. The NOODLES were perfectly cooked and silky smooth just as I like them - absolutely no complaints there and pretty much made up for the other detractors to this dish. The SHRIMP were so overcooked that it made them tough, rubbery and had shrunken them into hard balls of seafood making them less than appetizing. The VEGETABLES in the broth were pieces of Broccoli florets, chopped chunks of Carrots and some roughly chopped squares of Head Cabbage. Instead of using cabbage WON BOK would have been a far better choice for an additional vegetable and would have definitely added more flavorful to the broth. The entire dish was somewhat bland which suggests that it was poorly seasined and required some enhanced flavors by adding a dash of Shoyu. I also used a mixture of Chinese Yellow Mustard combined with Soy Sauce as a dipping mixture to complement each spoonful of noodles, vegetables and broth was I tried to savor each morsel of ingredients. The GYOZA was just fine but could've used just a bit more imagination with the addition of some chopped Water Chestnuts, Green Onions, Chinese Parsley, freshly grated Ginger Root. Salt, Pepper, Sesame Oil. In closing the meal was just OK, not spectacular. It didn't stand out from other ramen recipes I've tried on Oahu. It's not something that I'd crave again to eat at this particular ramen shop if it were not for the convenience that it's located right up the street from my house and far closer than having to drive all the way to KAPOLEI from EWA BEACH for a bowl of hot ramen noodles. If there was anything that was notable it definitely was WAITRESS / CASHIER who was friendly and very attentive to my needs - She kept my ICE water filled each time I emptied it and did ask about the meal by asking "how was the ramen". I didn't want to trouble her by criticizing the bowl of ramen since she wasn't the one who cooked it. She also served up the ramen super fast and was piping HOT just as you would want it to be. The mini portion was great for our son who didn't want a regular size bowl. They also have some mini bowl combos that are nice pairings. Shrimp tempura udon was ok, the noodles and broth were great but I wasn't impressed with the shrimp. Breading was a little heavy on very thin shrimp. Unannounced change of ownership. Should have noticed since the wait staff was new and they discontinued their teas and lemonade. Went for an early dinner to take advantage of the free gyoza special between 2pm-5pm. The place was full so we took the last table in the back. Girl came to take our order. Wife ordered water with plenty ice. It came with about an inch of ice in it. Same thing with my Coke. So we asked for a cup of ice. She brought us a cup about 2/3 full. Refills free so that is still a plus. Food took longer than usual although the table next to us got all their food and gyoza before we did. The same girl took their order after ours. My wife's gyoza came so late we were already done eating. The other girl came to apologize to us but not the one that took the order. My brother and I decided to go here for dinner after some errands since it been rainy and cold the whole day. We arrived around 7:30pm and I thought it was going to by packed because other people would want ramen too on this rainy day, but to my surprise, there was actually a few tables open so we were seated right away. I've been here a few times and sometimes there can be a small wait because the restaurant itself isn't as spacious. The service here to me is very great. When we walked in, we told them it was just the two of us and we were motioned to sit at the one of the available tables and within minutes, one of the waiters came and asked us what we wanted to drink. They are very attentive to their customers and not one, but multiple waiters came to check up on us. One of the reasons why I keep coming back. My brother and I both decided to get the spicy seafood ramen. Their broth really hits the spot and the spice level is perfect with the creaminess the broth has. It's also the right balance of taste; not too salty, but not too bland. The ramen dish we both ordered isn't with the combo deal, but with an additional fee, we were able to make it a combo, which come with a side of gyoza and your choice of a mini dish. At first I wasn't going to put on a review because the lady who was helping us really tried hard to get some kind of vegetable in my soup. But the kitchen told her there was nothing that they had. I'm writing this review to let people know that the oxtail soup is not worth getting for that price. If you're willing to drive to pearl city Liliha Bakery has a great oxdale soup and a bigger portion. You can take home your leftover for a second serving. We were running a little late on eating dinner tonight. Our first choice was Tiano's as we got there it was about 830p. Sadly they were closed and they looked as if they had been cleaning up for a while. I decided to go ask and try and open the door, but it was locked. They were supposed to close at 9pm. Pretty upset with Ohana Ramen. My family usually likes this place because they give a lot of food for a good price. This review is based solely on party trays. Ordered a shrimp tempura tray for NYE. Sad to say, they don't make their own original tempura. They used Costco's pre-made tempura that you just fry yourself. I wouldn't have ordered this shrimp tempura tray if I knew they didn't make their own. I was so upset when I undid the foil wrapper and noticed the shrimp looked familiar. Also, they gave katsu sauce instead of tempura sauce. Tempura sauce is usually in the same package when you buy the Costco pack. Ohana Ramen, don't be ripping people off like that. Not cool at all!
