Me and my families favorite Ramen ya! We usually get the same stuff everytime we go there, but this time we decided to try something else. We finally tried the Family Combo A! Which was worth it! It came with: -any fried or any fried noodles -any ramen (which came in an XL bowl) -5 choices of selected item that were listed on menu WE WERE SURPRISED with our order!!! We made the right choice to try the family combo this time around! We ordered: shrimp fried rice, char sui ramen, which the bowl was so HUGE! We wanted a huge bowl like that to take home hahaha The 5 choices we made were- chicken katsu, mochiko chicken, fried chicken, shrimp shumai, and gyoza. Our table was full, but made all our tummy's full and soooo satisfied even if we still had some food to take home. I forgot to take a picture and we were starting to eat so it was missing a shumai and missing the fried chicken photo. Also, they have a complimentary salad and I forgot to take a picture of that too. I wanted to take a picture of everything together, but hard when you got your whole family and they already hungry hahahaha ALL the staff are always welcoming and sooooo nice! I like that they interact with our children even tho our children can be a handful. Their service is always quick and the food always comes out correct and hot! Most of the time they give a complimentary side order of mochi balls and give the kids these blow up flower thingys. I was looking for good ramen place near the house. This one had 4 stars so I figured it was good. It was not. The mapo tofu was ok and the Thai tea was good. The gyoza was actually really good. That's where it ends. The char siu they put in the ramen was tuff. It was either old or overcooked but it was bad. The Ajitsuke Tamago (egg) yolk was hard. The broth in the tonkotsu was not good at all. The flavor was awful. My son who loves tonkotsu normally drinks all the broth only ate the noodles. I also tried the broth and it's probably the worst I've had. I would rather have the tonkotsu bowl at Costco. The char siu ramen my daughter had wasn't much better. Same issues with the char siu itself and the broth was very boring. My mom ordered the chicken katsu curry and it was a let down too. Although the curry itself had good flavor, the rice was very dry and there was not nearly enough curry. We really love ramen and was very disappointed. The service on the other hand was good. Went there yesterday w/ a mainland guest. The cashier's young daughters (elementary school?) served our table. I don't think that was even allowed and so unsanitary. The saimin was ok. The Saimein was great the Goya was greasy and and the chicken Katsu curry was a disaster it had no curry taste. It was very sweet. Maybe it was just out of the pan and it tastes sooooo goooood! Best that I've ever tasted. Recently went for lunch and service was terrible. No one greeted us and we sat and waited awhile and almost walked out before the server came to us. She did not offer water and had to ask for it. The food came out slow (we were half way done when one of the dishes came out), the portions were small, the server was rude and didn't check on us like refill our water or soda, and waited until the food came out to bring our ordered beverages. It arrived pretty fast and the mini combo I ordered consisted of Mochiko Chicken, white rice, mac salad, Gyoza, & mini Shoyu ramen with noodles. I like how they separated the noodles from the soup and put it on the side. Everything was at the right temperature too and the portion sizing was big for a decent price. I would for sure come again. Ramen Ya is a great ramen shop! This review specifically is for the Tan Tan Ramen. Ever since trying Tan Tan ramen at Goma Tei, my taste buds have opened up to flavorful and delicious tasting ramen. So i wanted to compare the two. The bowls are around the same price but are way different than each other. The broth is good with the noodles. Veggies aren't astounding. Not much of a veggie fan so. If it went well together I could tolerate it but I would rather just eat the noodles and meat. The char siu meat was really hard to bite and chew, it hurt my jaw just chewing on it. I was really excited to try out tan tan ramen here because my expectations were met by another ramen shop and it just didn't satisfy as much as the other shop did. Also I ordered a side of chicken katsu and was given the tiniest container of katsu sauce. When I saw it, I won't lie, my mouth dropped. I didn't know whether to laugh at how tiny it was(It was like the size of a quarter) or be upset that I have to ration my sauce with all this chicken I have. That tiny container was enough for one piece of chicken katsu. I saved it for my leftovers so I could head to the store and get my katsu sauce so I can enjoy it more. I still love and will continue to eat at Ramen Ya. Other restaurants have their own great, special food that make you want to come back and enjoy. Tan Tan ramen isn't one of them. But regardless, Ramen Ya offers the best combo meal by far on this island! And I have to give it to them for that. Soooo much better than the chain demeanor would suggest. This place has become a go to for our family when we're just not in the mood to cook but want good food, great potions and a fair price. Because I'm a ramen lover I always get the regular sized Tantan. In all the regular size bowls you get all of the plus ups. You get the shoyu soaked bamboo shoots, shoyu egg (a full egg, just cut in half) and sea weed slices dressing the rest of your order. And if you want to be smart and travel with your family (like I do), my wife and son get the combo sets! Each set comes with a smaller serving of your ramen choice (I've been able to ask for my ramen to be the tantan in the smaller size), 4 pieces of gyoza and another side dish of your choice from their side menu. My wife gets the small fried rice because I always need at least one scoop of fried rice to pair with my broth for a nostalgic scoop (I'd always do that as a kid). My son normally gets a side of Katsu curry (pretty generous portions but we've come to find that the dish is better when you ask for it separately and it also leaves more for left overs)! I'd normally be able to pilfer a slice or two of Katsu but because he's a growing boy, he normally eats it all before I can reach over so now I'm reduced to just eating the panko crumbs off the top of the rice with some curry. Still not bad. The restaurant itself is very well lit and has a nice Asian ramen house feel to it. Lots of wood features really helps the trappings feel more authentic. And though it is a ramen spot (here in Ewa, at least) the workers are Chinese and sometimes Filipino but they're really nice and know the menu well. They've also recently began a little stand of Knick knacks to sell on the side that's pretty cool. But at the end of the meal, they'll often go and grab something from there and give to the kids gratis! So again, if you want something hot, good and worth your money, I'd be hard pressed to find you a deal that's better. And for as far as my knowledge base can speak to, they all taste relatively the same so don't be afraid. Oh... also.. pro tip: to plus up the gyoza put a full scoop of the chili sauce and mix it with the gyoza sauce. Ono. Or oishi. Or... you know what I mean. read more

I regularly go to this place & was deeply considered when I found 3 long hairs at the bottom of my fried rice side box. I ordered 2 combo set A's, (Ramen/side/4 gyoza's) fried rice for both sides. We order takeout but go during happy hour which is from 2pm-5pm. Which offers an additional 4 pieces of gyoza per set (8 in total) extra. Usually me and my fiancée will eat the ramen portion with the 1st 8 gyoza's & save the fried rice & the 2nd set of 8 gyoza's for dinner. As I was munching down on the fried rice after finishing the ramen earlier in the day, I bit into a long black hair that was stuck in between rice at the bottom of the plate. Me personally, 1 hair doesn't define wasting food so I thought nothing of it. I kept eating & again I bit into another hair (white long hair). This has never happened to me so I spit out the food & did some searching to find ANOTHER long black hair. 3 long hair strands in food cuz!!! This is ridiculous, I eat here all the time & this never happens & I'm not the one to complain but had to write this review to warn other people out there. Take this with a grain of salt but a lot of restaurants don't tend to really work on the quality of taste, but of course the food is still what you expected and what can fill your stomach. With that being said, it's the service. The service is what makes a client like myself and my family come.. to the point that extra service is being done to my son. Amazing people that takes good care of the person paying but more so the people surrounding the table. Talk about getting a bang for your buck. $12 and I can get enough to stuff me and still walk away with a decent amount of leftovers. I always get the combos so I can get a little bit of everything. When I dined in, it was pretty slow. So the staff gave out complimentary Gyoza. These tasted awesome especially piping hot! We ordered there combo ramen which came with 4 pieces of side gyoza and a choice fried rice, chicken or beef curry, more gyoza, and etc.You can order just ramen or wonton soup if you don't want a combo or any other curry dishes. Food was good. Very filling and price is reasonable. This is a good place to eat when on a budget. Staff was nice and attentive! The only thing is there chili oil was different. I don't think I can live in a world with no ramen. This place is my go to when my body needs CARBS. It's close to home and usually not busy. I usually go to Daichii ramen which is closer to my home but Daichii is only doing take outs. It's not the same eating fresh ramen when you order it for take out so I'm glad Ramen Ya is doing djne in. My usual food on the menu is Shrimp fried rice with side of dried crunchy garlic, Tantan Ramen, and gyoza. The only reason why I gave this a 3 star is because 1) I prefer Daichii Ramen better. Food taste slightly different but its okay. 2) sign in was on a really low and broken bench. I had to bend really low to sign in and the bench it was on was unstable. I felt like it was able to collapse as I signed it. The sign in was visible for anyone outside to see your information. 3) felt cluttered , a lot of condiments containers were stacked by the glass window. 4) tables weren't fully sanitized. They just wiped it with a used rag. They didn't disinfect the chairs and the table. I really didn't mind but for those who are germaphobes please be aware.
