I'm not sure how it is when you dine in, but my rice barely had any curry on it. Portion sizes are good especially considering the 15% off coupons that often come in the mail. I just wished I had more curry (see pics). My granddaughter loves their food. We haven't been in a while but we love that there is a weekly coupon to save some bucks. Hubs enjoyed the chicken katsu ramen. I got the tan tan ramen. Today the char siu was tough for the first time. As the employee passed by our table carrying someone's order I was fascinated. On her return I asked what's that round thing they ordered? She answers Croquettes. She looked at me and says you can try next time. I must have had a strange expression on my face cuz she says... Or you can try it now. NOW I replied and we all laughed as she said Side order croquette to the cook. They must have lots of take out orders cuz boxes were piled up in front of us and by the cash register. Its a dive with great ramen, gyoza and fried rice. Seated right away and the ladies are really nice. Ordered the combo a. Never disappoints. Chewy noodles with umami broth. The chasu actually has a flavor. Slightly salty but not too much. Just enough to enhance the bowl. The guoza is crispy and chewy with cabbage and a lot of pork. Served with a vinegar shoyu. Perfect! Fried rice is a little oily but retains its fluffiness. I love that hot wok taste that they capture. Its like grandma's. With a diet soda it was $21 with tax. I need to come back soon. read more

Our server was very caring and we were served quicker than we expected so that was nice. Pricing was fine for all you get. I've had their ramen before but my first time dining in for lunch. The servers took care of me well and my order came out fast and fresh. My meal was delicious and affordable. The curry was delicious with the katsu. The ramen needed more flavor. The soup was bland and the noodles really tasted like egg. We also got a crap load of gyoza. The contents in the gyoza tasted sour. But it was fine because my stomach didn't get upset. Service was great given we were the only ones dinning in, Seems like a lot of people do take out. There were no condiments on the tables either, So I guess that goes to show they don't get a lot of dine ins. The place is very small, but clean. Honestly, I would give this place 3 stars but the seafood gravy on rice is such a win I have to give it 4 stars. It has the perfect flavored gravy and a pretty hearty amount of seafood. This is not on the menu, you have to order the seafood ramen or crispy noodle but ask for it on rice. The rest of the food here is good for "fast food" ramen but I would say it's great. The portions are pretty generous if you are into that. The service here is always quick and the restaurant is a little cramped but it is a fast food ramen place so most of them are. We asked for condiments which she slammed on the table as she pretty much ran past by us. On top of all that, she had the audacity to write herself a $30tip. Look, this isn't fancy ramen by any stretch, but it has a few things going for it: - close to home - solid value - quick takeout and perhaps most importantly, - my picky kid LOVES it We almost always get takeaway and opt for the Combo A or B for $16. They've raised the prices a bit in recent years, but haven't changed the portion sizes - still plenty food. We almost always get the Combo A, which has a small ramen, 4 gyoza, and a choice from a limited menu (like fried rice, mochiko chicken, a couple katsu curries, beef stew). That side item can be a meal in itself. When my keiki was smaller, we could split one of those combos between the two of us - now he winds up downing all the ramen himself and half of another. The ramen comes with broth and a separate container for the noodles, kamaboko slice, green onions, and a slice of pork. Chicken katsu curry comes over white rice, and IIRC, the mochiko chicken comes with mac salad and white rice but I usually opt for the katsu so it's been a while. They're also fast for takeaway. There are a limited number of tables (5? four-tops) but I can call my order in from Mililani, get in the car, and it's ready when I get to Laniakea Plaza in about 10-12 minutes. Parking is tight. There are a good number of spaces, but they can fill up at meal times because there are several eateries that share the lot, plus the angles of the parking rows and entrance/exit can make it difficult to get into some spaces. read more

Impromptu biz lunch after a meeting in the area. My lunch partner is vegetarian, so noodles seemed to be the best option we could both enjoy. We both enjoyed the ramen, I gave her my veggies, and she gave me her meat. The tan tan broth wasn't very flavorful, it was slightly disappointing. The service was decent, waters were topped off and there was a check in after our ramen came out. Near the end of the meal, I asked the server (who seemed to be a ESL speaker) if they have a restroom. She said "Restroom is by Fatboys". I thanked her and finished the meal. After the meal, I headed over to Fatboys to find the restroom. It's got a gate that is locked, so I head back to the restaurant and ask for the key. Both servers looked at me like "Key?" So I ask again, "Key for the restroom?" and the server who told me where the restroom is, nods and says, "yes, it needs a key". So of course, I'm a little annoyed when I have to ask, "Can I get the key for the restroom?" I'm sure my RBF was in overdrive. Since my husband and I weren't that hungry, we decided to share a Combo Set which comes with a Mini Ramen, 4-piece Gyoza and a main entree...we chose the Chicken Katsu Curry. The curry entree and gyoza was good, same as other places. The ramen was bland but the char siu was on the salty side. Never thought of it till now but if there's a next time, I'll add a little shoyu and pepper to the soup base. As for the workers, would've been awesome if they were friendly and smiled. read more

I got myself those late night cravings for some ramen and katsu! I decided to stop by Ramen-Ya to get that fix. I was seated right from the get-go. The staff was very friendly and considerate. They sanitized the table and gave us our menus. You could definitely tell that the lady was trying to be considerate I. Regards to COVID-19 safety. I decided to order combo that comes with ramen and chicken katsu. It doesn't look like much but it was so much food! Everything tasted great. Now, granted, the ramen was pretty basic but good, nonetheless. As for the interior - it's pretty humble with limited seating. When I told the lady gyoza not only looked burnt it tasted burnt she said that's how supposed to taste lol I didn't eat it besides the nibble to taste and she took it away only to give it to another patron wtf!!!! Looking around I noticed this place and off we went. Dining is spaced apart due to COVID, the staff wore masks and properly distanced. Overall great service! The food arrived hot and fresh! My curry rice was stolen from me...my son devoured that and his ramen. Don't know where he puts it... The chicken katsu he left me was good! Crunchy with just the right coating to chicken ratio. So sorry for the two stars. Food quality is subpar. But one thing going in its favor is the portions area really big. The "Big Bowl" is really big. A ton of noodles and meat. But the soup taste wasn't great. Really tasted a lot like bean sprouts. Not like normal ramen broth. But it's filling. The gyoza were tasty but they probably should've pan fried them 5 minutes longer. They weren't crispy on the bottom. The unagi over rice, combo C was also a ton of food. Unagi was delicious and it was over like 3 cups of rice! Miso soup didn't taste like miso soup I expect. Won ton ramen wasn't great on either the ramen side nor the won ton side. Won ton was mostly skin, hardly any meat. Broth was really salty. read more

Never shop hungry! We were greeted by a sweet sweet lady. She totally hit off the vibes the rest of our stay. Surprisingly 6pm on a Saturday wasn't busy. We made a detour to put gas and yelped food nearby... Parking stalls are a bit tight outside and it's tight inside Ramen Ya as well. We ordered what we usually order at Genki Ramen. Both Combo A and B with chicken katsu. Super yummy and I feel like it tasted way better than GR... No complaints about food or service. I frequent this area. I've been wanting to try Ramen Ya as there is also a restaurant near my house. Since it was a lot cooler yesterday, I decided to finally try at Ramen Ya. First impression, the restaurant is clean. As soon as a table is available, I observed the tables quickly bussed and the next patron seated at the same table that was occupied 2-minutes earlier. Reviewing the menu, I notice they have different options than the usual and predictable compared to the ones on the mainland. But for the record, ramen restaurants were common place in HI for several years prior to it being all the rage. ;). I decided on the Gyoza Ramen since I always get a bowl of ramen and gyoza on the side. A few minutes later, my ramen arrives. A few minutes after, I got a plate of gyoza! Gyoza in my ramen and gyoza on the side is winza! But alas, as good as everything looks, it's bland, both the soup and the gyoza :| It was a lot of food so I didn't attempt to finish the soup but did finish the gyoza with the help of a lot of sauce. The nice thing, server packs up the leftovers at the table. Nice touch. 3-stars for this experience for cleanliness, great service, but bland food. Waiting for the car in the Costco Auto center around lunch, and didn't feel like food courtin it, so we walked over to Ramen-Ya to grab a bite. We walked in and were immediately greeted, vax card checked, and seated. The menus are posted on the walls/windows to avoid contact. I haven't been to a Ramen-Ya in a minute so I was pleasantly surprised to find some new offerings! We chose to try the following: - Black Garlic Ramen ($12.50) - Super dark, garlicky broth with a load of fried garlic. Slightly bitter but overall immensely savory. Came with a hard boiled egg and four slices of chashu. - Paitan Ramen ($12.50) (sub udon +50c) - Light, creamy and salty broth. Really flavorful and comes with a hard-boiled egg, four slices of chashu, generous amounts of menma, and a smattering of wakame. Both bowls had a lot of noodles and really hit the spot. The chashu was a bit inconsistent, a couple slices were very tough but most were tender and fall-apart delicious. My biggest complaint would be that the menu shows ajitama with a dark color, but they really just hard boil an egg and drop it in. Kinda bland and disappointing. Having that marinated egg would've sent this bowl above and beyond. Great option to have in the Costco area, especially right next to the auto center! We'll be back for sure. read more

But she went back to work :) My shrimp tempura curry and rice, including a 4-pc gyoza was under $10. I could only eat about a third of it on one sitting. The boys could not finish their hefty helping of Tan Tan Ramen either. They said it was "tasty". Overall it was an enjoyable experience and the Pokemon Go fan was so friendly. Next to Costco, Waipio, It's a smaller, clean restaurant, but gives smaller portions than pearl city. Gomoku Ramen - 4 stars - The broth has a bit more flavor than the ramen ya in pearl city, but the ramen bowl (and maybe it's just the bowl) is smaller. It must be a bit smaller than the pearl city Ramen Ya because the ramen was just enough to fill me. I usually have to pack the rest of my ramen at pearl city. The soup had flavor, and the ramen was just right. Since we came in a little before 2pm, they told us they can't honor the free gyoza before then, so we had to wait until exactly 2pm to get the free gyoza. The combo curry/ramen was just enough for my son as well. However, the won ton was a bit hard. Service - 4 stars - very nice, and accommodating. If you plan to bring a big group, call 15 minutes in advance to warn them, but they still cannot hold the seats for you. Parking - lots of parking - not much near the restaurant, but since it's next to Costco, we parked at costco's parking lot since we shopped there after. read more

I chose one of the newer items, the Tonkotsu ramen. It included some black garlic oil which gave it more flavor. The portion is generous and price is affordable. I swear I still had slices of char siu after I finished the noodles. The egg is fully cooked for those that can't have undercooked eggs. I love having seaweed and green onion because they give freshness to cut through the natural "fattiness" of ramen. Definitely will return for more ramen craving! read more

We were craving ramen one night, and had never tried this place before. Ordering over the phone was really easy and I was able to customize with no onions. I wasn't exactly sure where it was, so I parked in front of the UPS. Turns out, it was in the parking lot next to it, which is not a far trek at all, but I walked in with my infant and didn't even think about how much food I had to be carrying back to the car. The woman who helped me honestly, went out of her way with customer service. After I paid, she asked me where my car was, and she carried all the food and walked me to my car! There were people coming in, and she was the only host, so she quickly sat people and said she would be right with them before taking the time to come with me. I am so grateful, because it would have been so difficult for me to manage on my own, and absolutely unnecessary of her! She very easily could have just taken my payment and said "thanks" and it would have been totally my problem trying to figure out getting the food to the car, but she was so helpful. On top of that the food was delicious and we were blown away with how much food was in the "combo" meals. It comes with a small ramen but a LOT of whatever the "side" order is.
