I'm back again. I've been here like, weekly, since my original review. I literally haven't had a bad experience. It's nice and lively for lunch, lots of ordering, smiling staff. I am STUFFED and happy! I have no idea how folks are rating this place poorly. I think this is the best sushi spot *on average* of any other sushi spots in North Texas, and I've been to a lot. Came back again, and the sushi was amazing! Super fresh, great quality, and the special roll was specially made by the chef with spicy tuna and snow crab. I've eaten sushi hundreds of times and this is easily the worst experience I've ever had. One star is actually being very generous and I can't for the life of me. WOW! This restaurant is very spacious but the booths still give it a intimate feel. Service overall was very good, our drinks were always refilled very fast without us having to ask and the waitress did a great job at gaging when we'd be ready to order another round for the AYCE. The food was very fresh and had a great rice to roll ratio for the actual sushi rolls, while the sashimi was cut very well and they would even throw in extra pieces even when we ordered 3. I really enjoyed the seaweed salad, kani salad, gyoza, and tempura jalepeno. The real shining star overall though was the salmon tataki (smoke salmon in sauce) our table of 3 could not stop ordering this throughout the meal. First time coming here and I was impressed. It took over the old LaMadeleine restaurant in Lewisville and they did a very nice renovation. Super clean and cute. Lots of tables and booths. Came for lunch on Saturday and we chose the AYCE sushi lunch for $20.95 vs the a la carte lunch specials and it includes a drink. David was our server. He explained the menu, took our order, and very attentive and friendly. They have lots of options for appetizers and sushi rolls. What I liked was the options to have rolls or handrolls. Since there were only two of us in our party, it helped from over ordering. The appetizer sizes were appropriate and everything we ordered was delicious. The dinner menu is $10 more and offers hibachi, sashimi, and noodles. Will definitely need to come back for dinner. Pictures says it all. Great food and great service! read more

My husband and I had a very disappointing dining experience at Ohayo last night. It's been a long time since we've had such a poor meal out but unfortunately this was just not a good experience. The service is super slow and they were out of food. We arrived around 6:30pm on Saturday night to try their AYCE dinner for $31.95 which does include one alcoholic drink. After 15 minutes, we received our sashimi order of 10 tuna, 10 smoked salmon, 2 red snapper, and 10 salmon, but there was a mistake--we only received 4 pieces of regular salmon sashimi instead of the 10 we ordered. After we finished our first round of sashimi we tried to order more salmon sashimi since they didn't give us our full order and our server said that he was told by the chef they were out of salmon--at 7pm on a Saturday night. Ok, that's fine (but really not fine) so we placed our second round order. By 7:04pm we finally received the rest of the items from our first round order which included a few hand rolls and one of their "speciality" rolls. 30 minutes later we received the first portion of our second-round order. The time stamps are all on my camera roll. We eventually got tired of sitting around waiting in awkwardness. Even though we were still hungry, it had gotten to the point where we were more frustrated than hungry so we just wanted to get the check and go. The restaurant was maybe half full, two-thirds full at best... It was definitely not worth the $31.95 per person. read more

All you can eat sushi???? Don't mind if I do. If you want the price for lunch go during the week the lunch price isn't on the weekend. BUT the price is still worth it. I came here with friends because we were going to Zion Market after. The server was amazing and the restaurant was very clean! I forgot to take pictures but the Krab salad was very good all of the sushi I had was fresh and delicious. And I had this blue drink that was very tasty! I saw this place on TikTok and decided to come out and try it. It did not disappoint! We had a group of 6 and we arrived around 12:45. The server was so sweet and nice! We ordered SO much! Everything was fresh and super tasty. For the lunch buffet it was only $20!!! Definitely a steal, we ate so much! I hate writing reviews but I have to. Probably the worst sushi I've ever had. Generic and absolutely no flavor or tastes bad. The topping ponzu and oyster sauces were both flavorless. They only use 3 types of fish in all the rolls. Tempura was cold. The ginger was old and the wasabi was also fake and tasted watered down. Poor execution. I would never go back. Came on a weekday for lunch and it was pretty empty. Servers greeted us quickly and helped us to a booth. This place is AYCE so we ordered some rolls, nigiri, and appetizers. Miso soup: So good? Felt the random urge to order some and then it was gone. Inhaled. Nigiri was pretty good. The cuts were fairly uneven so some pieces had a thick slab or fish and others were 'normal' cuts. The white tuna was a bit lacking in flavor, maybe due to the last point. The inari was just a cut piece of tofu curd instead of giving us the whole pocket which was strange. The tuna was meaty and tasted like generic tuna. The shrimp tempura and tempura banana were really good, but our roll with shrimp tempura was over fried to the point of hurting your mouth. At oke point we were served salmon nigiri that wasn't from a normal cut of the fish (loin or top loin), so the nigiri was mushy and filled with muscle fibers. At Ohayo, you win some and you lose some. Eating here felt like a game of roulette and we emerged as victors! Price 10/10 The regular menu items were priced lower than many sushi places and for the price of two specialty sushi rolls, you can do all-you-can-eat! This really hurts to do but I no longer agree with my 5 star review from earlier :/ I've been coming here since their opening week - Unfortunately, my most recent trip here was disappointingly average. There was a noted change in ownership that was definitely observed in the quality of the meal. The slices of sashimi were cut super unevenly and sloppily. The nigiri had triple the rice it usually did - the ratio is like 60-40 sashimi to rice now. The handrolls weren't rolled as well as before so it fell apart easily - the spicy salmon was not spicy, the salmon avocado was half of what it used to be and I didn't even get to try the crawfish handroll again because the handrolls took forever to come out I just cancelled it. Also, we ordered a California roll for my toddler niece and nephew and the crab was literally a whole imitation crab stick messily wrapped.. it wasn't even shredded, like The fried rice, fried noodles, and tempura apps are all still very delicious! The only recognized consistency. The desserts are all still great as well, but neither the desserts or food from the grill is what I'd come to Ohayo for. The pictures from my original review showcase the beautiful quality and the care in presentation that used to be here... now everything is slopped on a rectangular plate. The service is still the same, the servers are very friendly but yes the food comes out slower than before.. they also added a robot which I couldn't care less for. Don't get me wrong, the fish quality is still up there and better than some other places, but I would actually decline trying new places just because Ohayo existed & was that good. Decided to try a new place to indulge in an all you can eat experience and WOW! We were missing out! The inside is cozy with perfect lighting, light music, and hustle and bustle as plates and plates of sushi are continuously sent out! Our server was fantastic and walked us through our first visit and made recommendations that were absolutely right on target. Honestly, the people bashing this place must of be having an off day, because everything I had--from the appetizers to the fried rice and sushi--was amazingly delicious. The young girl who served us was also very sweet. The music added a nice touch, though the place did smell a bit stale when we first walked in (maybe because of the wooden layout). I saw this place off of the highway. We chose to go here for the first time so I wasn't sure what to expect seeing that. It had like a high review stars I would assume that it was up to its expectations. You get either the lunch menu which has no sashimi or the dinner menu that has sashimi there's a $10 difference in between they don't give you a paper to fill out what you want to order. So you have to tell the waitress and sometimes I feel like the waitress ended up missing some items. The sushi was OK. I felt like it wasn't the best that I've had. It just tasted very off,For example We all decided to go for the sashimi one for the dinner option and the sashimi tasted like it had dirt in it so I had to use water to clean it out. The rules weren't all that either. It was lacking of something, but the location was very nice. Easy to get to and it was very pretty inside aesthetically I just don't think this place is for me.. We were doing our weekly shopping at Zion Market and we saw the sign for the grand opening of Ohayo Sushi! The entrance of the building is actually the opposite side, due to the positioning of the plaza. My first thoughts walking in was that it was super clean and well-decorated! Sufficient lighting but not too bright and we were greeted warmly by the front of house. The food came out sooooo fast and everything was impeccably decorated; they pay so much attention to detail. The fish portions in the rolls are generous and they don't skimp. The sashimi isn't too thin and the fish was delicious! The hot foods were also piping hot when they came out and I really appreciated that. The servers and owner were also very attentive. My only advice might be to change the music selection a bit, there's some anime music mixed in with j-rock and it clashes a bit? Other than that this place has only been open for a few days but I hope they stick around! read more

I don't know where these people had sushi that gave 4 or 5 stars for this restaurant. I would rather get sushi from Kroger or HEB that's pre-made and its better than this place. Rice is practically plain white rice with no seasoning, no Wasabi between the fish and rice- which is pretty standard on all Nigiri. And theres soooo much rice. It's practically rice cake. First time here and sorry but absolutely the WORST AYCE sushi spot I've ever been to. Quality was very very low. Starting off with the nats flying around our table. Our waiter had to move us. Then the sprite that tasted like soda water. Baked mussels were under cooked. The cucumber wrap was yellow and very bitter. Smelt roe sushi wasn't fresh. The icing on the cake was the summer love roll. (The above picture). All I'll say is, the salmon tasted like it was from Walmart. Quality was not fresh, smelled very strong and fishy and was such a pale color. Ruined my entire appetite. Nate our waiter was nice and stayed calm through my complaints. Yellowtail ended up being our favorite raw fish and we had like 6 servings of their jalapeno yellowtail appetizer. We also enjoyed some of the fun rolls and other cooked items. My absolute favorite is the tempura cheesecake. There was a place in New Orleans that did a tempura cheesecake that I loved and when I saw that Ohayo had it as a dessert option, I was so hyped. My husband was worried that I might be let down because I was so excited, but I was not disappointed! This place is hit or miss. They are known for AYCE but that'll set you back quite a bit. Weekday lunch is cheaper but the choices are limited. For some reason they use their sushi rice for white or fried rice, making it dense and sticky, I find the noodles to be a better option. They missed a few dishes and got some wrong on the AYCE. I prefer the ala carte options but you have to ask for the menu, they don't always bring it. They do have a robot waiter but don't use it much. The bus lady wipes down tables with a sopping wet rag, leaving smelly water residue behind. The staff is friendly but doesn't seem well trained nor do they communicate well in English. Eating here was a terrible experience. My wife and I came here for the all you can eat sushi. We ordered a large number of different dishes but almost every single one was disappointing. The biggest problem for me was the two sushi rolls I ordered. I had worked with the server to find rolls that were tempura (deep fried rolls) because I like those, but when they came out they weren't tempura but also were extremely stale. I've never bitten into sushi and wondered why it was stale until today. Turns out the shrimp tempura in the roll was super stale. The restaurant has a policy they will charge you for uneaten food and I worried about being charged for not eating food that was low quality or different than I expected as there are no pictures on the menu. The hibachi and skewer shrimp was okay and that was the best thing I ate. I wouldn't recommend the fried Oreos, and the cheesecake was okay. My wife was eagerly anticipating the sashimi, her favorite. Her salmon and yellowtail sashimi had four salmon bones and three scales in it. She also said it smelled fishy. My wife almost lost her appetite after that but persevered and tried some fried food. ShuMai, one of her favorite dim sum dishes, was very small, deep fried (it's normally steamed) and had potato cubes in it (what??). We ordered the crab puffs and I was shocked when they delivered crab rangoon, not what I expected, and the crab rangoon had a pretty tough texture. The sauces were really weird as everything was not as expected in one way or another. We were asked if our food was okay and spoke with the manager about the problems. He asked us what he could do to make our experience better but unfortunately there was nothing they could do to improve our experience as we got all you can eat and they didn't offer to comp the entire meal. When we walked in, we immediately noticed the floor was sticky and tables were sticky too like a bar. That didn't make sense since the restaurant just opened. I liked the interior design for the most part. They did a good job converting the old La Madeleine into a traditional Asian looking decor and it's cozy. I saw the new opening sign and made a mental note to check it out. Well the day arrived. Upon entrace I was met with a pleasant dark ambiance and led to my table after stating a party of 2 would be doing the AYCE sushi. I also noted a every day happy hour sign with $2.50 michelada. Nice. The selction of sushi, sashimi, rolls, and various other iems like salads and soups made for a nice selection. We asked for green tea but told only oolong tea was available. Chinese owned maybe? I ordered the michelada but server must have mis-heard and I got a michelob ultra. Oh well that worked too for $3. The first round of items was good, fresh and exceeded expectations. Items included salmon, tuna, octopus, and various other sashimi. Other items included a hibachi steak that was great. I would say the hibachi shrimp were really salty like some msg was thrown on the shrimp. Not good. The second round included a fried oyster roll. Tasty. Other items were laced with the msg mixture that made the taste too much. Also experienced the belly filull sensation like one experiences from chinese buffets that lace their food with substances that will bloat your stomach. I appeciated the first round much more than my second round of food. I did order the michelada because it was a great price and it sounded good. For those that do not know, the michedala is a drink that has pepper around the glass rim and you add a beer to a mixture of hot sauce (some with tomato and clam juice) to make the drink. I was asked what beer and had the drink served. The price was decent $31 per person plus the drinks. I was surprised by the addition of a beer charge with my michelada. The sign said $2.50 but I was charged $5.50. Not a horrible price but the sign said... I brought it up to the owner and the explaination was basically sorry, we charge both. I was amazed the blindness of the owner and the manager as to what their own sign said. It was indeed false advertising. Instead of playing dumb, the smart thing to do as a new business would be to admit yes the sign says michelada for happy hour does say $2.50 and here is the $3 we charged in addition for the beer. In that instance I would have said $3 is no big deal but thank you for the offer. $3 would have also been worth a different version of my experience as well. Again not smart and not malice on my end but simply reporting the events that happened. Honestly, if the $3 was given ba k, I would have simply added it to the servers tip. Excellent server. I give this place an average rating. Not good or bad.
