Party of 6 or more auto charge of 20% gratuity- I would not have left 20% for the service with this experience. I would happily pay 20+ percent tip for good service, but this was not a great experience overall for dinner. I was surprised the same rules applied for the separate karaoke section upstairs and was not told by any of the people I called when I originally made the reservation and asked for pricing nor did the two employees in the karaoke clarify it would be a higher charge of $10 for the first hour with 6 or more people. So many things on the menu were unavailable. We were all mixed on some food items being very good and others being mediocre. Three of our cocktails between dinner and the karaoke orders were just wrong. One girl asked for her drink to be remade and the one lady who actually knew what she was doing (she was great) had it remade stating they had several new employees. The food here is amazing. It's definitely a higher level than your traditional Japanese spot. The portions are big enough to share, especially when it comes to the fried rice. Do not snooze on the oysters or the scallop with foie gras. Drink wise get the tokoyo dragon (if you like whiskey), tiger's flame (if your a fan of spicy & tequila) or the Japanese green tea shots (perfectly made). The ambience is perfect for special occasions, such as a birthday or a date. The coolest thing is that the second floor is a karaoke lounge that also has a full bar and has great energy so get rady to sing your heart out. The karaoke rental is separate from the restaurant so if you just want to sing your heart out without eating, you can. The music choices they play in the restaurant is also top tier and definitely brings on a a intimate party atmosphere. The only improvement I can offer is that their service is lacking from an organization standpoint. The servers can get a little confused and backed up with orders with a large group and a little intimidated with the loud table. Service was okay, on the slower side and not particularly nice so for the price point you would expect the service level to grow with it. However, the upstairs was just dirty. No soap in the women's bathroom, trash overflowing. Disgusting, I had high hopes for the food but it was so bad. Although that may have just been because we visited on a Friday night at 10.30. We were the only ones at the restaurant. We were told most of the people were upstairs at karaoke. Here's what we got: - Chili hamachi: Just a good hamachi dish. Not always easy to deliver on. - Madai crudo: very skillfully done. Madai was amazing and flavorful. The tobiko lent masterfully to the texture. - Yuzu Cuisine roll: yellow tail melted in our mouth. The combination was delightful. Citrusy - Madai Nigiri: solid. Actually ordered a second order of this. - Salmon belly: slightly fatty. Didn't like char. - Uni from Japan Hokkaido: Least favorite. Overwhelming taste. - Kinmadai/golden eye snapper: A little chewy. Not bad. Didn't like flavor profile as much. - Shima Aji: Melt in your mouth. Too much wasabi though. You can always remove some for your bite. - Chu toro: I know I've said melt in your mouth quite a few times in this review, but damn this really melted in our mouths. - Chicken Gizzard: not a fan at all. Far too chewy and stringy for our taste - Beef tenderloin: very soft and tender We paid about $200 with tax and tip, so definitely a pricier place. Ichibang has a beautiful ambiance. We sat at one of the large booths and it was comfortable. We tried all the sushi rolls and some grilled items. The one thing that stood out was the Ambrosia Roll. It is a must have! We came back another night for Karaoke upstairs and it was an interesting time. There are only three Karaoke rooms, but it has a dance floor and bar outside of the rooms. Fresh and some zing! Next up, the first place I've seen that has tentacles with their Calamari. Very small and had a unique breading. Speaking of breading, next appetizer was the Fried Shrimp. I'm not sure what this was, but it was a total flip on your head version of fried shrimp. It was a shrimp dumplings with a wonton strip like breading. For the main course, I went with the Ichibang roll. This roll also had a unique crunch to it. Everything was amazing with its own lil twist. SCAM! If you're here for "All You Can Eat", be prepare because it's more like "30 PCS You Can Eat." One person can order a maximum of 10 pcs of either sushi or sashimi each round, and you're only allowed 3 rounds. The limit is pretty much already set for you. I don't know why they still call it AYCE. The sushi and sashimi pieces are also thinly sliced and miniature sized. Hamachi-kama is limited to 1 per Table. So if you come in alone or with 3 more people, it doesn't matter. You can only order just ONE (1) Hamachi-kama for the whole table. This rule makes absolutely no sense. They're getting more money from big groups, but refuse to provide more food. If you are coming in a group, maybe split up to 2,3 tables so each person can order their own hamachi-kama. You also have a limit of 1 hour, but it takes a long time for the food to come in between rounds. Very greedy business owner who implements these rules to deceive clients. They want to attract customers with AYCE but do not offer AYCE service. Their Korean food is not good either. Tastes like frozen meals that they just microwave. Just stick with their a-la-carte sushi menu if you do decide to dine here. Otherwise, I do not recommend this restaurant. Service was okay, nobody smiles here. read more

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this restaurant's new "All You Can Eat" model is an absolute nightmare. The rules are overly complicated--how many items you can order depends on the type of fish, whether it's sushi or sashimi, and apparently a dozen other hidden restrictions. I told the staff up front I was unfamiliar with the new model, but no one mentioned anything about the shocking 2-hour time limit on top of limiting number of items overall and for each round. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the waitress came over and says, "Your time has passed." Are you serious? It felt like a trap rather than a dining experience. Been a few times now and the food has gotten better and better. They have been changing the menu items and each time it tastes and looks better than the time before. I really like the Brussels sprouts, eatzybang roll, and the nigiri all tastes fresh! Some of the dishes are kind of small for the price and act more like tasting dishes like the tuna tartare but there are larger dishes that can easily fill you up like the shrimp pasta which was really creamy and good. We love Izakaya, robata & sushi! We have plentiful experiences with it and have tried so many places. Karaoke/bar isn't my type of environment so I will only speak to the food! We ordered A LOT! Sushi was reasonably priced but I felt the entrees and yakitori were expensive! All the carpaccio style sushi were great. I was only disappointed in the scallop and foie gras. It was the tiniest piece of foie gras. You cant taste the full luxury of it. Beef fried rice- I love the addition of the mushroom but this can be skipped next time. Tako Wasabi- very small portion! Braised pork belly kuna- Delicious and melts in your mouth. Pork to fat ratio was perfect. Hamachi Kama- It was very tiny piece for $17!!! Most restaurants will charge according to size since they can't always guarantee same size each time. Chu- toro sushi- OMG! Melts immediately in your mouth. Grilled octopus- Delicious and enjoyed the yuzu sauce. Skewers were all grilled perfectly! Please keep in mind the shishito peppers were not on skewer. It was more like an appetizer. They added a bit too much bonito flakes. Toro Tartare- Melt in your mouth as toro should be. Portion was generous here. We will give this place another shot. Definitely a memorable experience -- but for all the wrong reasons. We came here for our first-ever All You Can Eat (AYCE) sushi experience, and unfortunately, it'll also be our last. We were seated around 6:05 PM, ready and excited to dive in. Then... crickets. No one came by for water, menus, or even a simple greeting until 6:32 PM -- almost half an hour later, and only after I waved someone down. The server gave zero explanation about how the AYCE worked (besides the standard 90-minute limit), leaving us guessing about any rules or restrictions. Our first order finally went in around 6:45 PM, and when it arrived, the appetizers were lukewarm at best -- as if they'd been sitting in the kitchen for a while. Strike one. We placed another round at 7:08 PM, but it didn't show up until 7:40 PM. The pacing was painfully slow, and by then, our enthusiasm had already faded. Still, we pushed on -- ordering up to 20 pieces of sashimi and some additional appetizers, trying to give the place the benefit of the doubt. The final straw came at 8:32 PM, when the waiter returned (after we'd been waiting over 30 minutes) only to tell us there's actually a 20-piece sashimi limit -- something no one had mentioned earlier -- and that we were now over our AYCE time, so we couldn't order anything else. At that point, we were just stunned. Between the disorganized service, inconsistent food quality, and unclear rules, the entire night felt more like a test of patience than a dining experience. If you're looking for good sushi, attentive service, or even just a smooth AYCE experience -- do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Very well rounded restaurant perfect for a date night or a fun night out with friends with great food. The ambience is slightly dark, sophisticated, and elegant. The restaurant is spacious and there is plenty of space to host a large group. We didn't get to check out the second floor but according to their Google reviews, there are private k pop group themed karaoke rooms up there. We ordered several things across their menu. And I must say, the presentation and quality of the food is impressive given their price point. It is very obvious they put details in each of their item from plates, garnishes, to carefully cooked ingredients. Some of the stand outs from what we've ordered were mushroom (shiitake), sausage, large nigiri (chef's selection) and beef fried rice. A dedicated restaurant will do a great job cooking the most simple ingredients- ichiBang's robata can attest to that. I was very impressed with how well they grilled their robata vegetables and even the sausage was very juicy with nice meaty texture with great flavor. Their sushi is very impressionable with nice thick cuts of sushi that taste fresh with no fishy taste at all. Each nigiri was formed carefully and with each little touches and I really enjoyed the generous fish to rice ratio. Now don't hesitate to order fried rice because it's hands down the best fried rice I've had at an izakaya restaurant! The amount of beef in the rice was the most amount of meat I've seen in any fried rice. The vegetables were perfectly done with some nice chew and rice was perfectly seasoned with a hint of butter.. the perfect combo to a perfect fried rice. Everything else was good as well and there was no single dish that we regret ordering. If I were to nitpick, I wish the foie gras in scallop with foie gras and truffle had more flavor. But the scallop was impressive as it had no fishy taste at all- even my husband who doesn't like scallop because of the oceany taste was willing to try and didn't hate it! Overall I would highly recommend IchiBang to anyone who is looking for a Japanese restaurant that does both sushi and Izakaya very well. It's such a bonus that they have a decent sized Japanese flared cocktail menu and karaoke. I plan on returning with friends to try the karaoke. We had a large party (10 people) which they easily accommodated for our large party for dinner and karaoke. I got there a little early so my boyfriend and I checked out the karaoke part which is on the second floor. Alex gave us a tour of the upper level which had plenty of karaoke rooms for all Party sizes including a VIP room (that can hold to 30 - 50 people). VIP room has its own dance floor, bathroom, and access to the patio. Service: Our server, Kyla, did an amazing job handling our large group and explaining the breakdown of the menu for us since we weren't familiar to a more Japanese menu. Also, suggesting great drink choices for us. She was attentive and personable. Frankly, all the staff we interacted with were accommodating and attentive. Shout out to Alex! Food: They have an extensive Japanese menu from Robata to Maki. The sushi quality is premium and fresh. Our group ordered a variety from the menu so I got to try a bite of the tempura, fried rice, different maki, and takoyaki it was all so delicious. One of the worst experiences ever. What was supposed to be a casual late night meal with a good buddy of mine became an experience to remember, in all the wrong ways. We came here to experience the supposedly new AYCE experience. Our dinner was on a Sunday at 6PM. We got seated at about 6:05PM. The first red flag was the fact that after about 15 minutes of waiting we had to flag down a waitress to even give us paper menu for ordering. After placing our order at 6:25 we went to the self serve food and condiments area which had things like chapjae, ddukkobkki, and wasabi. An important thing to keep in mind was the fact that the only allowed 10 pieces of sashimi per person per round to our understanding at the time, 2 rolls max per round, and 2 orders of kitchen food max per round. After sitting down we finally had someone come by and serve us water at 6:35. After a bit of waiting we finally got some of our food at 6:50. We got our order of sushi rolls, then our sashimi, and lastly the kitchen food such as our takoyaki. The sashimi was decent for AYCE, definitely not the best we've had. The kitchen food was barely warm at best. Based on the slowness of the service we ate quickly so that we could place another order since you can't order unless you finish all your food, that and the fact that you only get an hour and a half to eat. We placed our second order at 7:10. The food was coming out even slower now. We didn't see the food until 7:40. After finishing our food we put a final order in at 8. A long wait came again as usual but we just passed the time catching up with each other. At 8:30 the waitress comes by to inform us that there was a supposed 20 piece sashimi limit that was never explained to us nor was it stated on the AYCE menu. We asked if they could just do nigiri instead and the waitress said we could but unfortunately she couldn't take the order since we passed the 1 hour and 30 minute limit. We asked why they couldn't take our order even though it took them 30 minutes to inform us of the mistake. The waitress simply apologized and said there was nothing they could do since we passed the time limit due to their negligence. We were simply at a loss for words. The waitress was willing to at least let us have some desserts which we couldn't care much for given our disgust with the experience we've had so far. We declined the dessert and just asked for the check so that we could leave. We almost never give a $0 tip but that night we thought they deserved it.
