Early dinner yesterday at Ohho. Service was excellent, the ambiance very nice and relaxing, with beautiful Asian artistry. We ordered appetizers, which were overall very good, the only thing I was a bit disappointed about was that the fried chicken dumplings were deep fried, I thought they would have been quickly pan fried on both sides. The shrimp shu mai and chicken shu mai were excellent and tasty! Our main courses we ordered were the Spicy Kimchi Ramen in Hot Pot, robust , savory & delicious, and the garlic chicken, I added bok choy for a side of veggie. This place was amazing! It is located in a strip mall that seems like it'll just be some mediocre spot but this a true hole in the wall. After a day of kayaking we made a quick pit stop here to grab a bite to eat and it was so worth it. This is a very normal looking spot in a strip mall.... Very quiet. The decor inside is very nice with ample seating. Looking at the menu was a bit overwhelming (I'm a good way) as they have pictures with most of the item names and description; this made it so hard to choose as everything looked amazing. The service was very good and they have hot sake (a lot of places only do cold). Once the food arrived (I had beef stew soup), satisfied customers from there. My first time here was amazing! I had the wonton noodle soup. It came out so hot and fresh. I also had the iced Thai coffee which was also great. My problem came the second time I visited. I had such a great time alone the first time I brought a friend along the second time. The service was horrible. The girl at the front had the worst attitude and it seemed like she was really sad about something. She had no enthusiasm and you could tell she just didn't want to be there. We had the iced Thai tea and it was great!!! We also had really good shrimp dumplings and pork dumplings which were PACKED with meat. My problem came when I got the tonkatsu Ramen. I've never had Ramen, so I have no point of reference, but I do know what tastes good to me and my guest and I found the food to be tasty, but the service was AWFUL. We ordered Ramen with beef stew, Mongolian beef on top of udon noodles and chicken fried rice. The beef in the Ramen was seasoned and extremely tender. The Mongolian beef was delicious and was served with a spoon. There was enough sauce to use on something else if you wanted. We enjoyed the meal although it took some time to come out. There were only 2 other occupied tables and the couple at one table left minutes after we got there. The server was female and seemed new to service because she had her dirty fingers all over the rims of our glasses as well as her fingers inside our take away containers. She never introduced herself; never checked up on our table; and when I would motion or call to her, she remained at the table she was seated requiring me to yell my request 2x across the restaurant. By the 3rd time, I refused to speak and motioned for her to come to the table. When we ordered the honey toast, which is an experience, she failed to tell us when taking our entree order that the honey toast is made-to-order and would take 20mins. We literally spent over 2 1/2 hrs at a restaurant that literally had 1 other occupied table! I'll order food from the restaurant, but I'll think twice before I sit in and eat. Based on the reviews, bad service can be expected. Oh... almost forgot! The tip on the bill STARTS at 18%. Wow! Ambitious, considering how awful the service was. Kimchi ramen was a great choice! Daughter loved the miso ramen. Service is attentive and positive. New Asian themed noodle place .... yay!!! OR SO I THOUGHT. I placed a phone order for takeout, was told it'll be 20-25 minutes. I arrive 20 minutes later & proceed to wait another 35 minutes!!! Yes, 55 minutes from the time I ordered. I ordered 3 things: tonkotsu ramen soup, shrimp pad Thai, and Rigatoni a la Vodka with added shrimp and mushrooms. There was ONLY 3 tables being served inside. During the time I waited, only 2 other people walked in to pick up orders. However, I was told they were getting " so many online orders" I was beyond livid and contemplated walking out. I wish I would have. My rigatoni is not rigatoni. There are no mushrooms in sight. And god knows what kind of "cheese" they put on it because it's not Parmesan..... The pad Thai is just ok. The ramen is pretty awful. Cup o Noodles tastes better! I'm extremely disappointed in this place. Horrible service. Gross food. Oh but wait!!! They gave me a "free dessert" to make up for the wait.... 3 gross looking sesame balls. I've traveled and lived all over Asia since the 1980s, and this is one of the few restaurants that can successfully (repeating: SUCCESSFULLY) evoke nostalgia from several very different regions on the food front. Chinese, Thai, Korean, Vietnamese...that's a feat. Shrimp stuffed eggplant with a hoisin and garlic sauce? So Cantonese! Har Gow shrimp dumplings so shiny and round steaming away in their tin? Same, wonderful. Thai glass noodles with chicken, veggies, a wonderful chili sauce on the side (totally non-assaulting for amateurs!) was a throwback to my years working in Bangkok and all its culinary delights. The food was fresh, high quality and culturally authentic. Super recommended. Service was kind and completely attentive. What I like most was that while there is no passing carts as in larger dim sum shops, the wait staff encouraged us to order as we made our micro-decisions, so it really felt like you were being exclusively served without being rushed or committed. So why only 4 stars? The prices $8.50 and up for each dim sum plate plus any desired entrees was not in line with the smallish quantities. You'll need to keep ordering to feel satisfied if you expected more than a snack, even beyond a usual a la carte experience for this type of dining. More like OHNO Let's start from the moment you walk in - empty. Okay, so maybe it's in a bad location. The restaurant is pretty hidden. You go to sit down? Y'all are lucky my phone AND my friends phone had died prior to walking in or we would've taken photos. The white chairs were stained beyond belief. I actually could not look down at the chair because I was so disgusted and knew I wouldn't be able to sit through my whole meal if I got a clear look. I even glanced at other chairs and noticed ALL of them in the restaurant were stained. You guys, I'm not exaggerating. These chairs looked like that stoner guys house you go to in college who grabbed chairs out of someone's trash. Service was beyond strange. The first girl that started taking our order was able to answer our questions and provide us with recommendations. I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden a different girl started attending to us and she knew NOTHING. She couldn't even explain to us the difference between the different ramen flavors!!! She had no recommendations. When we'd ask her a question, instead of her just openly saying "I don't know, but I'd be happy to find out for you" she just stood there like a bumbling !d!0t stumbling over her words. We were being extremely friendly and asking her normal questions about the menu. She also explained the different boba balls terribly. It's honestly going to make me so heated to relive how ridiculous and confusing her description was, so just use your imagination. When we needed something, we had to shout over to the host stand where the waitresses were standing. The menu is marked wrong. They say a tea is $4. It is not $4. You'll need to ask for the TEA MENU to inquire about the real prices. It's really sad because the ramen was pretty good and probably deserves 4 stars, but the service and atmosphere is so weak. This location was discovered due to my fiancé and I wanting some pho. One of our favorite spots is in Davie, and we did not want to do the drive. Quick Yelp search and we weren't aware this was in the area of North Miami Beach. Nice quiet ambiance/decor. We have been here once a week for the last 3 weeks straight on a Thursday. Just today went on a Sunday afternoon. They have great customer service and their take out line is hot fire. When we left the manager asked how was everything. I said not good. I said to the server, how about next time you see a customer having trouble packaging up their food, you help them.
