I had just left my dentist when I remembered I needed to get an oil change and specially before going on a weekend trip -- it was Friday and loved that No Appointment Necessary they had a special online on their website (happy dance!) Quick and I didn't even have to get down my car.. (More of a Happy Dance).. once finished he did testing on the car and reset the change oil light and off I went - very friendly and amicable- wore a mask and very polite. There were two cars ahead of me and I think my wait time was only 25 minutes (super quick considering the service being provided). All employees were incredibly professional and friendly. In addition to changing my oil, they checked air tire pressure (added air as needed), and did a signal/blink and brake light check (safety). I was also provided information for upcoming services needed on my car, which I know is on the horizon as I approach 60k miles - now I can compare their pricing to the dealership, and I'm sure theirs will be lower. Looking at the checklist items: Never did my windshield get washed or my wipers checked. Pulled in and was told to pop the hood and did that right away. After the oil change they put the hood down and sent me on my way. Not quite sure how you could have washed the windshield and checked the wipers with the hood up and me sitting in the car without seeing it? You checked my brake lights, blinkers and headlights...congrats. Service completed items: $83.96 after a Yelp $5 off coupon for 10 mins of service for synthetic oil...come on. The oil hasn't even drained before you put the drain plug back in and changed the filter, I'll never know. Convenient and overpriced yes...but reliable and trustworthy no. First time customer at Oil Changers in Poway. 2005 Honda Element with 250K miles. I have changed my oil in the past. When I arrived I asked them If I could supply my own Honda OEM filter, and the Oil Changer employee said yes. Then I asked him if they used a Honda oil deflector under the oil filter when removed to prevent the old oil from the filter from landing on the undercarriage. He said they used a "leaf" and they they always clean the undercarriage of any drips. They proceeded drain, and change my oil as a team. They put in the exact amount of oil as recommended by the Honda manual, and showed me the dipstick. They instructed me to rev the engine, and then they checked for leaks. They also checked my engine filter, headlights tail lights and signal lights. Oil Changers offers a Military/Veterans discount. Bottom line - I do not have oil drips on my driveway that can occur if you don't know to deflect the oil as it is coming out of the engine when you remove the oil filter. I supplied my own OEM Honda filter, and I know the Kendall oil - the oil that Oil Changers uses is good quality oil. I will be a repeat customer at Oil Changers in Poway. read more
