We came on a Thursday and surprised that it was still popping, just a tad bit difficult to find parking but it wasn't impossible. The employees were quick to help us and give us suggestions. We ordered the Ojai Wagyu Burger, Spicy Miso Burger, Ojai Chicken Sandwich, Spicy Miso Fries, and Ube Shake. The chicken sandwich was cooked really well and it was my favorite but compared to the beef burgers, didn't pack as much flavor (which is what I wanted). The wagyu burger was slightly sweet and the spicy miso was more savory. I think the spicy miso tasted the best! Fries were solid and the ube shake was really really good. I was a little disturbed at the cleanliness of the restroom and was confused at what seating area in the outside was dedicated to this business but besides that I think a quick grab for a burger works. Pricing is a bit high for what you get but the bowl was definitely hearty enough to fill me up. No cash only cards which was disappointing when wanting to break a 20 to tip. The waygu meat on the fries is really flavorful and tender! Just enough juice and mayo sauce so fries are still crispy. The salad was good but I thought the dressing was a bit salty. We've been eyeing this place since they were under construction and finally stopped in for dinner last night. I think it really fits in with the old town orange/ college town vibe and a burger spot was exactly what was missing. I ordered the Topa Topa grilled chicken sandwich (they have 2 grilled chicken sandwiches and 2 fried chicken ones), and my boyfriend ordered The Chief. I'll have to admit that even though the Topa was SO good, the chief was just the perfect wagyu burger. They're both very different. Topa had fried onions and both burgers had the most perfectly soft buns. Honestly still thinking about the buns, they were amazing. Service was awesome. I was so excited to finally get a chance to try their Topa Topa wagyu fries as the photos looked great. Unfortunately, the takeout fries we received were so salty that it wasn't edible. It was also too far to drive back to get a replacement order. The fries should not have had any salt added to it as the sauce is already salty enough. While walking along Chapman Avenue we came across a small eatery with many very interesting menu selections. For those who enjoy specialty burgers and awesome fries, it's called "Ojai Burger". All that said, the burgers here are darn good. I think part of it comes down to how they are seasoned and sauced, as opposed to the origin of the meat. The cut of meat matters, along with some other factors, but the marbling... I had the spicy miso burger, which provides a nice bit of spice (not really hot, just flavorful) and some salt and sweetness from the miso. I also always like a fried egg on top for that extra helping of cholesterol. It was darn good. The burger isn't huge, but I don't want a huge burger. I personally had the Spicy Ojai Chicken Sandwich and the Topa Topa Wagyu fries. I really liked the chicken in the sandwich, it was crispy and juicy, but I wish the sauce was a bit more flavorful, and that the cabbage was mixed with some more mayo or something. So, we have driven and walked by this little burger joint many times trying other places. Then the other night we decided to try it. I was pleasantly pleased with my burger and enjoyed having one of the sauces on my fries. It was late and I was worried about eating so late yet I needed to eat as I had missed dinner. I was able to eat the burger (1/2) and some fries. I didn't feel greasy and unsettled after eating it. I felt fulfilled and my taste buds were pleased. It was different from a typical cheeseburger I had a slight sweet and spicy sauce on mine just enough and not too much . The guys helping us was really great. He could see we were tired and were trying to figure it out. He gave us little small containers of each suave so we could try it out. He also asked me a few questions and then suggested the burger I got and he was right in with what I like!! They have inside and outdoor sitting so something for all groups and sizes. We initially wanted to-go but decided to dine in because the ambiance was bright, artistic, and welcoming. They also have a patio! We walked in and was greeted by Elijah. Elijah had stellar hospitality and treated us not as customers but as guests. He thoroughly navigated the menu for us and happily offered us sauce samples to help our decision making. His character and personable communication skills led us to mistakenly assume he was the owner. My gf's favorite sauce was the spicy miso, hence the spicy miso burger. I decided on the ojai wagyu burger but liked all the sauces, so Elijah recommended having all the sauces on the side for me. We also got the ube shake and okonomi fries. The buns were soft and fluffy, the juicy and savory patty melted in my mouth, and the distinctive sauces added a strong and unique palatable experience with every bite. The ube shake was well blended and the flavor wasn't overpowering. The okonomi fries tasted just like it sounds, while the fries itself were balanced with lightly crisp and crunchy consistency. Elijah checked in on us, went out of his way to take away our empty trays, and surprised us with a sample of their most requested cookies and cream shake. 10/10 would come again! read more

The place has indoor and outdoor seating for whatever tickles your fancy I've eaten at this burger gem a few times and based on my experience, I recommend the Topa Topa burger, spicy fried chicken sandwich, Chief burger, and wagyu fries. If you're looking for something heavy, I would go with the chief chicken or Topa Topa wagyu burgers. The spicy fried chicken sandwich was perfect for me.
