In fairness, my girlfriend and I arrived on a Sunday morning on a long weekend, but this place was packed. The wait to order was long, but it went fairly fast. However, to receive our iced lattes too so long and I noticed the baristas couldn't remember what drinks were what when a few were left on the counter. I'm very surprised I haven't already posted a review as I have been enjoying Ojai Coffee Roasters for YEARS! First, I will start by saying during non-Covid times they are the the earliest opening coffee shop In town.. the coffee is great- roasted(as the name suggests) on site. The milk options are good and I usually get a latte with almond milk, always delicious! They make their own chi (it's not from a box concentrate) which is the other drink I often have there. The Pastry selection is usually varied- almost always something for everyone - sweet or savory. Again, during non-Covid times, the sandwiches plates were absolutely delicious, and the shop. warm(or cool in the summer) and inviting. Since Covid, they have had to change the hours a bit, and of course no sitting at the shop but the friendliness and good coffee have remained. Had the best experience here recently - ordered a macchiato and the server was so friendly. Then I tasted the coffee and it was SO good!! It was using their espresso blend. I kept thinking about it and a few days later back in LA I reached out on email to see if their espresso blend is ok to use in a French press. Stacey responded with the loveliest email and yes, it's fantastic in a French Press - I know as I ordered it and now I'm trying not to make several coffees a day because I'm enjoying it so much. This was a must stop for us while we were in Ojai, because this coffee shop had been featured in Easy A!! It turned out to be one of my favorite coffee shops I've ever been to, hands down!! It's in downtown Ojai, on the corner of a cute building with a few other shops. The inside is surprisingly large, considering the small entrance. I loved the aesthetics inside with the bronze color themes and the menu written in big letters! It was so beautiful and charming and relaxing! They had many options for food and drink, and we got ourselves an Italian soda since it was a hot day, as well as a chocolate chip cookie! They had plenty of flavors to choose from for the soda, and it tasted refreshing and delicious! The chocolate chip cookie was by far one of the best cookies that we ever had, we both agreed! It was big and soft and mushy and melted in your mouth! Absolutely wonderful! We sat down on some couches they had by the entrance. There was so much comfortable seating everywhere and people working on their laptops. It looked like the ideal hang out and study spot! I loved this place! There's not many coffee spots along this street but I enjoyed my cappuccino! Had a potent flavor. Seating was a bit crowded, would've liked more space between the aisles and had to wait for a couple to leave because tables weren't clean. Tasty coffee. Cute ambiance. Service started slamming chairs on tables at 5:01 and asked us to leave as they were closed at 5:03. We'd just walked in and been handed our coffees. My cappuccino was so milky I had to give half to my hubby when I realized. They escorted everyone out so I hadn't realized while in there how milky it was. Very nice barista and ambiance, but the pushing out the door in that manner was off putting - it would have been courteous to let us know they were closing soon when they took our orders, we would have prepared to have gotten them to go. read more

The absolute BEST lunch in Ojai and what a deal! On certain days for lunchtime you order any full sandwich and get a free drink. I had an amazing veggie sandwich with side salad and yummy tahini dressing and a FREE 16oz house made Cold Brew coffee. Hubby had a tuna sandwich and free 16oz house made chai tea made as an iced latte with almond milk. The sandwiches were HUGE. Bread was very fresh. The young woman that waited on us was so sweet and helpful. Seating inside is very cozy and two outside tables on the sidewalk. We will be back! read more

The negative reviews about this place are right on. The owner is a nut job and the coffee isn't good. Wish I had read them before I went. I did talk to you while I was in the store. And you didn't help. That's the point of this review. Pretending to be helpful now is a joke. And chasing me out into the street yelling at me wasn't helpful either. RUDE older lady! Overpriced! I even tipped them and got treated poorly. We gave the name "Julien" for the pick up. She started calling "Julie" and I tried to explain to her and ask her if it was a medium latte. She started yelling at me that I was stealing "Julie's latte". I then tried to ask the other guy that was there and was nice. She then said "don't yell" even though she has been the only one yelling. I took the latte and drank it. She then tried to say she made a mistake. However the mistake is not the name...it is how she treats people like crap! BEST COFFEE CULTURE IN OJAI! I've been hanging out in all the coffee places around Ojai for the past twenty years. OCRC is the oldest and consistently the best of all of them. Welcoming, laid-back atmosphere. Central location. Great customer service and excellent coffee they roast themselves. Yesterday I had a horrible hot latte. I decided to give this place a try. YES!!!! I finally had a great cup of coffee!

We went here around 11am this past Sunday. They were almost completely sold out of every pastry and food items. The guy at the counter was super nice, and he is the only redeeming thing about this place. My $6 medium size iced chai latte was definitely the worst latte I've ever had. It was super watered down from the moment I got it. The spice combo is apparently house made, but it needed some more sweetness, and definitely more milk. My husband said his iced latte was pretty good. read more

Today was my first time in Ojai and this looked like a nice stop. I loved the vibe walking into this place. It's well spread with comfortable seating by the window or grouped seating at tables. The pastries looked delicious and the drink options look interesting enough. I ordered a white chocolate mocha, a red eye, and a dark chocolate macaroon for $13. That's when the stars started to fall off. The macaroon is freezing underneath making the cookie cold and hard to chew. The edges are crisp but it's not a flakey, fluffy, mound to bite into. It's a flat bite of disappointment. Even the drizzled chocolate tastes like nothing. Next, the "white chocolate mocha" is half foam, and half a stale burnt cup of coffee. There is nothing sweet or chocolatey about it. I spoke with the barista and she added more white chocolate syrup to my cup. It made it sweeter but it still tasted burnt so I threw it away. I also mentioned the icy cookie so she put it in the microwave. A sloppy sugary mess resulted. The red eye was also thrown in the garbage. I don't normally throw away $13 worth of goodies, but since eating and drinking them would have been worse than tossing them, they were tossed. Overall, a disappointing visit. Fast and delicious! I ran inside while my girlfriend circled the block because parking kinda sucks around here and we just needed a quick caffeine fix. I think I was in and out in like 5 minutes. It was about an hour before they closed and there was only one person ahead of me. I ordered an iced lavender latte with oat milk and it was perfect! They have the number of espresso shots each size drink comes with on a cup display which I thought was cool because some people never consider that and then end up super wired lol. Their small has 2 shots of espresso, the medium is 3, and large is four. In case you didn't know, Starbucks grande and venti espresso drinks only have 2 shots each so keep that in mind when ordering if you're used to that! read more

I've had a lot of coffee in my life but nothing compares to Ojai Coffee Roasters. Every drink is really made with love and all of the employees work really hard to make sure every customer leaves with the drink they want. I always get a hot vanilla latte with oat milk and it stays consistent every time I come here. The vibe is so relaxing yet exciting and I really love how homey it feels. I always wanted to check out Ojai Coffee Roasting Co and last time we needed a coffee breaking from sightseeing, so we had our chance. Cute location, nice decor, with modern art hanging on their walls and adorably painted tables. I wasn't impressed with their pastry selection, but maybe it was later in the day and they were running out of things. There's nice seating options inside, some tables outside as well. They serve lunch fare, too- salads, sandwiches, etc. Prices are a bit high, we decided on a couple of small mochas. It was a bit of of a wait to get them, but you're on Ojai time, everything slows down, so we enjoyed the laid back vibe and just chilled. I was surprised, the size of my mocha was big, pretty generous for a small sized coffee. Very well made, with some whipped cream as a treat. Who could resist? Nice indie coffee-shop in downtown Ojai, a cool place to relax, enjoy some art and people watching. We could always use a nice break. You're on Ojai time. read more

Unpleasant experience this morning, not a great tourist spot. I was enjoying a nice walk on my first day of vacation. The place looked good and seemed to be the only coffee place in town open at 9:30am on Saturday. understandably the kitchen is closed so food options were a couple of bagels or pastries (Both were low in stock) but I was hungry and our hotel didn't do breakfast so I figured I'd wait. Fast forward, fifteen minutes later when I got up to the register and at that point was told I couldn't order because I had my yorkie with me. Now I am not someone crazy who has to bring my dog with me to all places, so since it was inside I wasn't going to even bother. But I circled back here after I really didn't see a single other option to even get bottled water at 9:30am. Since there was no where to tie him up outside (no tables), and stupidly figuring the town was more dog friendly like LA I thought it'd be okay to hold him for a couple minutes while ordering. That was not the case and staff was pretty rude about but not until stood inside in line for 15 minutes . I asked if just this one time I could give him my card to get a bagel and water and wait outside, but instead of listening or showing grace/compassion the guy got pretty rude and interrupted me with a sort of aggressive tone. Anyways I'm really disappointed. As a daughter of a small business owner, I would always rather support the small local shops over Starbucks but this time I was missing my Starbucks baristas as even they are always so understanding when us dog owners are out of options. read more

Ordered a soothing Lavender Latte after enjoying the Lavender Festival a few weeks ago and wanted another as soon as I finished it! Great coffee shop for all things comforting and delicious, and I love that they really took on the lavender theme of the weekend. I guess during pre-post Covid era this place is probably charming. During my stop to buy a cappuccino I found it excessively slow (we were only 2 customers). I went inside, ordered, and they asked me to wait outside, so i sat in the cute yellow and white decorated tables and chairs. I waited at least 20 minutes until i got my order. Stacey the owner is always upbeat and genuine and her staff is always well-trained and attentive. They have the best loose leaf jasmine tea I have found and tables with plenty of outlets for me to keep up with immediate work needs when I am in town. Had a great medium roast drip coffee. Customer service was great and efficient. The lemon bars seemed to be very popular, I resisted trying one. They had a lot of great looking pastries and unique drink specials. Cute place to stop and grab a coffee at one of the couple tables on the front patio and there's a couch by the front windows for lounging. read more
