This is a wonderful beach motel. It is close to everything.. It's very convenient to go to the mall to do any kind of shopping or get on the freeway. There are movie theaters very close and lots of restaurants with varying cuisines. It only takes a few minutes to go to the beach for the marina Village, where you can enjoy the ocean side. I don't appreciate the false advertising going on with this place. I saw it had good reviews on Booking.com and took a chance to my own personal and deep regret. Pictures posted on the app were pleasant and looked like a normal motel. In person, things took a turn for the worse. The room was run down, a vent cover falling off the wall in the bathroom, old and discolored furniture, closet bare and no hangers, scary looking kitchen, ramshackle window coverings with added spider web as a bonus and a bad smell to add to the overall unpleasantness. This place is one to stay away from; I didn't end up staying and had to find new accommodations. Still trying to get back my money for the second night. You better hope that you don't have a downstairs room and that your neighbors upstairs or making noise because, there's nothing that's going to change that either. Though this motel is a little run down and could use some new furniture, it was clean and accommodating, which was in sharp contrast to a chain hotel we checked out of. My husband has a bad back, and the bed was too soft and they replaced it. The parking lot was small but we always had a parking spot. I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Bayshore Inn for the first time. It will certainly not be the last! This will be the only hotel I will stay at anytime I visit Ventura or surrounding areas in the future. I knew I was going to have an amazing experience when I called to make my reservation and spoke with the manager, Mike. Mike could not have been kinder or more helpful accommodating my needs. When I arrived at the hotel to check in Mike greeted me with much warmth and graciousness. Mike truly made me feel like family. The room was exceptional. It was immaculately clean, bright and had all the amenities one could need. The room has air conditioning though I didn't need to use it as there is such a refreshing breeze to savor with the windows open. The exterior of the hotel is maintained as well as the rooms. There are roses, lovely flowers and planters all around. This is a small boutique hotel where guests are appreciated and receive superior service. I sincerely recommend you stay at The Bayshore Inn next time you are in Ventura. I am extremely certain you will be blown away by the service superior property just as I was. Bayshore Inn, occupancy for two adults, on Saturday night in November When rating a hotel that is privately owned and not part of a corporation, it is difficult to determine how to rate the owner separately from his hotel. Let me use an analogy close to my heart. As a high school teacher in an urban school, I often have students who do not come from wealthy families. Their shoes are worn, their clothes are hand-me-downs, their backpacks show years of use. Yet, often their work is quality and meets my standards as a teacher. Now, am I grading the children and their appearance, or am I grading their work? In a school setting, I must learn to separate the child from his work. With a hotel, however, I feel I must give two grades: one score for the appearance of the hotel, and one for the service. The hotel itself, on this weekend in 2016, gets a score of 3.5 (out of 5). The owner, Mayur Patel, gets a 4.5. The hotel, like the clothes of some of my students, shows years of wear. It's an old hotel. The floor of the bedroom is half-tile, half-carpeting, carpeting that appears to date back to the 1970s. The bed, a lounge chair, and a table rest on the carpeting; the dresser and a refrigerator rest on the tile. Our carpet is worn and has a cigarette burn on my side of the bed, but it is as clean as it could be. All the furniture is old, but clean and functional. The bed is warm and comfortable. The modern touches range from fair to very good. The wi-fi leaves much to be desired. (We were successful in accessing the wi-fi early in the evening; since then, I have seen only an endless spinning wheel struggling to reach the Internet.) Our television is a modern flat screen mounted on the wall facing the bed. There were maybe 60 stations on TWC. However, the remote control is semi-functional. All of the buttons work except for the on-off button. Like the good old days, we had to get up and turn the set on and off manually. Also, there is no closet, just a rack awkwardly placed above the dresser. The room had no telephone. There are some good modern upgrades. The room is equipped with a microwave and a fair-sized refrigerator, both clean. The walls and ceiling have fresh paint. The ceiling has elegant molding and new, recessed lights. A brand-new air conditioning unit hangs on the back wall. The bathroom has been well-upgraded. The toilet and the sink are new, the tub and its tile are new, and the walls are clean and recently painted. The vanity has an unpainted, rustic look. (Here, when I say "unpainted," I am referring to the peeling paint appearance that makes me question whether the look is intentional or not.) The owner, Mr. Patel, is a conscientious proprietor who is making gradual improvements on the hotel. At the time of our visit, some of the rooms at the far end of the hotel (24 units) were under renovation. There is no elevator access to the second floor. The stairwells need paint. Even the sidewalk and curb outside the hotel was under repair. However, Mr. Patel was very attentive. He gave us Room 204, the room next to the stairwell where only one other room shares a wall. (The walls are thin. When the neighbors arrived late at night, I heard them talking through the bathroom wall.) When he saw our luggage, he summoned one of the workers to carry it up to the room for us. He called my cellphone after we settled in to ask if we needed anything. (My wife wanted another hand towel, but she did not say anything at the time.). When the television remote did not work, I called him, and he promptly came up to the room to try to fix it. During our conversations, Mr. Patel explained how he was making improvements to his hotel "one thing at a time," including his plan to pull up the carpeting and tile the bedroom floors. He made it clear that he wanted us to return to his hotel for future visits. Bottom line: The Bayshore Inn is a fixer-upper in the process of being fixed. I paid $109 for a room that my wife valued at $70. In all fairness, some of the Yelpers claimed to see bedbugs and prostitutes: I saw no such things. The beds are clean and comfortable. Maybe it's because it is November, but the streets are too cold and dark for anyone to be walking the streets. read more

The hotel room was not very clean, the furniture was so stained I did not want to sit on them. The window latch Was broken from clearly being broken into before which was alarming since we were on the bottom floor facing Main Street. I went to get into bed and the sheets were filthy and had blood stains on them so I had to sleep on top of the comforter and use my clothing as blankets. If you value your health and sanity, go elsewhere because the Bayshore Inn is the epitome of what happens when you stop caring about your business and let it go downhill. My room, which is upstairs, is infested with roaches that not only are coming out of the wall from the faceplates as well as from the sockets themselves......now even my t.v is crawling and infested with these disgusting incest. To make matters worse, the owner, who in all fairness is one hell of a guy, refuses to believe that he has a roach problem. When I brought the issue up to him, he simply and matter of factly said that ALL hotels have roaches and that what I was seeing was normal, that it only seemed like alot when in reality there was not. He said all this WITHOUT coming up to see for himself. He called in Orkin only after I showed him the pictures and video that I took of the "problem" but even then he refused to admit that his cozy little hotel was infested with not only roaches but with ants as well. Simple extermination protocols and a set schedule in which type implement these procedures is all it would take to solve the problem, but as of 2-282023 he has still not done so. My room is bad and to be fair I don't know if any other room is affected but I think that this place should be fumigated asap because the "problem" is only getting worse. Now the roaches, who aren't afraid of the light, go crawling across my TV screen when Im trying to watch it. Save yourself some money and some long nights by using another of Ventura's many beautiful hotels and motels as well as our plentiful AirBnB's. .....you will be glad that you did. p.s Its so bad I won't even rate it 1 star but I had to give 1 star just to post this review. read more

I stayed here for a few nights and it was great. The owners are very nice and accommodating. The room was small but clean and newly remodeled. The windows and walls were thick enough to block out traffic noise (with the AC unit on). The bathroom was clean and new. The best part was the mattress, which was incredibly comfortable - maybe some kind of memory foam. The room also had a nice flat screen TV, ironing board and closet area. As for location, it's about a 10 minute drive to the beach, but much cheaper (and quieter) than anything I found in that area. For breakfast you can walk to Main Street Restaurant just down the street, which has a delicious early bird (before 8am) breakfast for $6.99. And McConnell's Ice Cream is just down the block too. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in town. Highly recommended! read more

While I didn't have the bedbugs or hostel/horror stories the other two Yelpers experienced, it was completely average. Emailed the owner for reservation, got confirmation the next day. Arrived around 6:00pm, checked in. Watched some Big Bang Theory, took a walk, then had dinner before getting into my costume and headed to Billy O's for a Halloween party. Hung out for a couple hours, walked back to my room, went to bed. Shower and bathroom appeared to have been recently renovated. I appreciated the fact that they had an actual cast-iron tub and real shower controls. The furniture (what little there was) looked a bit beat up, but the room had a fresh coat of paint and the bed was vermin-free. Checked out around 8:00am, handed my keys to Major (the owner), thanked him for the stay. Won't be back, as overnight trips to Ventura aren't really my thing. Only saving grace was the place was a few blocks from the Billy O's. read more

This is my first review ever but I downloaded the yelp app specifically to review this horrid motel and shout from the rooftops, THIS MOTEL HAS BEDBUGS AS OF THE DATE OF THIS REVIEW...100% confirmed and my son even had to go to the ER at CMH in Ventura to be treated...the owner was completely irate when informed and tried to say they were termites...only then to add he was going to "fumigate to get rid of any evidence"...needless to say I'm furious and recommend to one go stay at this hell hole unless you love getting eaten alive while you sleep by bed bugs...absolutely disgusting!!! read more

We had to roll into town late on Father's Day weekend and every Motel and hotel was packed. The sweet family who owned this had one room left and took off half the cost for us because we would be leaving in the morning. Room was spacious with a full size kitchen and lovely new tile, and close to everything. It is not the Ritz, but definitely a comfy place to stay! read more

There was a broken light switch in bathroom,rusted shower rod, no water pressure in tub and sink, no vanity outside of bathroom, no place to hang up clothes, crack in door, cracked light switch, odor in room curtains blacked out room, bed spread was dirty, bed too soft, no customer service, had to check in through a metal window with a door bell! I paid 200.00 a night I feel I should get a refund! That was the worst motel I have stayed in! I hope this helps other people not to have such a bad read more

This was the perfect place for us for a quick trip to Ventura to attend a wedding. The room was clean and had been recently remodeled. It was also a suite with a kitchen, a king bed & Queen bed in the bedroom, and a living room with a pullout couch. We drove a couple of blocks away to Trader Joe's and bought food to prepare our own meals. :) The staff was also very helpful and kind. Don't be fooled by the exterior. This place is much nicer than a normal motel. read more

I normally would refrain from writing a negative review but the experience I had needs to be shared to hopefully deter anyone from staying here. I arrived at the motel around 11:30pm on a Saturday night, and felt immediately preyed upon due to lack of knowledge of the area. The rate was $189 with tax I paid $211.68. I was willing to pay this to get a good nights rest and would then be able to get on with my long drive home. I did ask if there was any type of discount being a member of AAA, and apparently there is, but ONLY if you pay cash. I was told that this is due to debit fees, but that should make no difference. The only thing I can assume is that they are trying to avoid taxes. After signing and paying I start to unload my overnight bag only to notice a lot of homeless transients and what appeared to be a prostitute in the corner which made me feel a bit uncomfortable. Immediately following me entering the room I realized what a mistake I made. The door itself had no security latch at the top, let alone the locking mechanism on the door itself was useless as the deadbolt just turned and did nothing to secure the door. The bedding materials were in shambles. The cover had rips and stains, I removed this to find more rips and stains on the second blanket, and when I pulled that back found my mattress sheet had what appeared to be a fresh blood stain! I immediately called the front desk for a new change of sheets and received only one, and was forced to leave the room to retrieve it. Once back in the room I removed the bloody sheet and started to unfold the new "clean" one only to find massive holes in this sheet. To be fair, I did not see any evidence of bed bugs in previous postings. Once the bedding was somewhat rectified, I went to shower only to find black mold in the ceiling above the shower and when I went to dry my body found 3 bath mat towels hung... there was no normal sized towel to be used. I finally laid down, still pretty skeeved out by the deplorable state of the room, only to hear a couple having sex I believe maybe underneath me. This was a stay from hell, and honestly when I found the blood I was ready to leave but the owner refuses to give any type of money back for a cancelation. This is the worst motel I have ever stayed in and hope that I can save you from experiencing this as well! read more

I stayed here for a few nights in September. It's a very small motel with a single building, with two stories of rooms, set back diagonally from east main street. Sort of a weird positioning of the building. I got a room close to the office, and it was surprisingly comfortable. Two full size beds, good carpet, flat screen TV, small fridge. And most importantly, no smell (I hate hotel rooms that smell bad). Bathroom was small but good. This room was obviously recently updated, maybe some of the other rooms still need work. But the one I was in was good. The biggest problem are that many other rooms are occupied by people who obviously live in the hotel: laundry hanging outside, people lounging in front of their rooms in lawn chairs. And it seemed like a lot of the "residents" knew each other, which was weird, like they're neighbors. This is a hotel after all, not an apartment building. Saw some shady characters hanging around too. I was afraid there would be lots of noise at night but it wasn't too bad. This is the type of hotel where "your results may vary", depending on which room you get, and which night you stay. But my experience here was fine. And the room was much better than expected. read more

You get what you pay for.... no not really, you can stay at an Airbnb for the same price and you won't have to deal with weird people with big old dogs that look at you crazy cause you are invading what they consider their space...... cause they live at the motel. Also, housekeeping was super aggressive when they knocked in the morning asking when people were leaving (before check out), and they ended up getting berated by a different guest cause of it. I am not even going to give this place a star. It was such a dump. It smells HORRIBLE. You may as well pile up a million cigarette butts and fall asleep inside the pile. It is totally unsanitary, filthy and unsafe. I am so confused as to how they are even in business. This place should be burned down. They DO NOT change the sheets when they clean the room, they only give you new towels. there are bums everywhere and dogs barking all the time. It looks good on line but once you get there its a nightmare. read more
