Arugula salad

Went to OK Donna with my mom and had a good experience overall. It is definitely a very trendy spot in Charleston and I think the hype set expectations a bit high, but it was still enjoyable. Service was strong and very attentive, with the host checking in often. We sat on the back patio with heaters and it was packed for a Wednesday night. Atmosphere was fun and lively. Food was good but not great. The arugula salad was my favorite, and the lasagna was solid. Overall a four star experience with great service and energy, even if the food did not completely blow me away.

Had a nice night out! The drinks are fantastic and the food was great. Is it better than any other Italian restaurant in Charleston? no. But they had some fun, unique options. Especially the salad plates were creative and delicious. The service was great! I think the main course proteins were better than the pastas. Definitely worth checking out!

I thought this restaurant would be more true Italian which it's not, but incredibly creative mix of dishes. It's mostly small plates so fun to share. The menu seems to change a lot. A little more bar than restaurant. The drinks are super cool and well presented. Very much love this restaurant and it feels different for Charleston.

This was an outstanding experience From the moment we walked in it felt welcoming and cozy. The vibe was perfect to be honest Drinks were absolutely phenomenal and I could have the cherry Negroni for the rest of my days The carbonara was fantastic and I'm so picky with my pasta Chocolate mousse was a perfect end to the night. So happy with this place and look forward to return

So I've been here twice now. I am a huge fan of Bar George and the aesthetic that ok Donna is going for. I love the ambience inside, I like the music they play, I like the menu. The first time I came here, I had the arugula potato chip salad, a slice of pep, miso cabbage, and shrimp scampi. Of all of it, I have to say the cabbage and scampi were the best thing. I would return and order those things. The second time, I got the cacio y Pepe gnocchi and pork fusilli. I had to admit that it just wasn't that good. Moving forward I think I know what dishes to stick with and what to order here, because what I do like here is pretty damn good! But there are some things on the menu that are just eh. I will say the drinks here are PHENOMENAL and hats off to whoever made the drink menu. Also, my favorite thing about this place is the amount of cheese they add to everything: "excessive pecorino" is a quote from the menu. That is right up my alley!

Wow. Just made a reservation. The decor and general vibes of this restaurant were so cool it felt like sitting in a mid century modern bar in Palm Springs. Wait staff was very nice and attentive. But most important the food was amazing. Dishes come out as they are made and everything is family style made for sharing. Everything was light and fresh, my husband voted this the best chicken Milanese he's had. Highly highly recommend. Patio is covered, so if that's the only way you can get a reservation, take it!!

i absolutely loved the atmosphere. great lighting and the music was really good. we sat outside and even with it being cold out, we were kept warm with the heaters. the service wasn't anything too special, nothing over the top that stood out to me, just regular. the salad was a good appetizer to have and the pasta was to die for. i could have 10 servings of that. for drinks, if you're looking for something sweet get the aperol and pineapple. if you're looking for savory, the dirty martini. overall, i loved this place. the pasta definitely makes me want to eat there again soon!

We had reservations for a Sunday night, and our server Joe was quick to greet us after we arrived. He delivered friendly service all night, which began with a thorough knowledge of the menu. We had starters of rosemary focaccia and braised artichokes. The focaccia is a must order, it's so soft and delicious. It's served with 3 sides of olive oil, marinara, and my favorite whipped ricotta. The braised artichokes, was a pass for me. No flavor, too soft a texture. Their entree menu has a nice variety of house made pastas. We chose fusilli lunghi, and rigatoni bolognese. Both were delicious flavorful entrees, with the pastas served perfectly al dente. The rigatoni was made with spinach, and the meat sauce was meaty and with a balanced tomato sauce. We ended our dinner, with carrot cake and chocolate cake. Yum! The chocolate cake was amazing, it was moist, velvety, and rich in chocolate flavor. A round of espresso martinis helped top off our dinner, and we ended the night with a rich appreciation of this experience.

The building has an extensive history, even once serving as a Hebrew orphanage, to now being a beautiful restaurant. I love how the architects and interior design highlight the character of the building! The wallpaper on the main dining room on the second floor is truly gorgeous! For cocktails, we tried many! I got the almond sour (delicious) and my friends were pleasantly surprised they serve decaffeinated espresso martinis. My sister got a spritz, which she also enjoyed. I was also touched that the culinary team was kind enough to sign a birthday card for me. Our table also received complimentary cacio e pepe popcorn to snack on--yum! For appetizers, we got the tuna tar tar (Crudo di Tonno), the strawberry caprese salad, and some shrimp--all so delicious, that they FLEW off the plate! For mains, I got the Rotolo al Forno, which was VERY tasty. My friends got the chicken milanese, the Sorelle spaghetti, and the sworfish. For side dishes, we also got the meatball with polenta and some potatoes. For dessert, I got a complimentary birthday cannoli with a candle and the Limone (a berry and cream-filled dessert in the form of a lemon!) What. A. Meal!!! The food and the locale are just stunning. But of course, not cheap. As a whole, we paid a whopping $399.75 without tip! Was it worth it for a feast of glamour? I'd say so--but definitely not an every day treat unless you have the budget! Also, Lucy was our server and was exceptionally sweet and patient!

The restaurant is beautifully designed with an elegant atmosphere that still feels warm and inviting. The almond sour was excellent -- a delicious cocktail but a little sweet. The house bread was also a standout. We loved the apertivo plate for sharing. The Wagyu pizza was unique and flavorful. The Wagyu was a Wagyu carpaccio(I must have missed that part). The fresh pasta dishes were the stars for us, especially the pappardelle with braised rabbit and the "pillows of gold," which were rich, fresh, and perfectly cooked. Dessert was a little more mixed. The vanilla bean donut dessert was just okay. The olive oil cake was moist. Beautifully designed space, thoughtful menu, and definitely worth visiting in Charleston.

We were pleasantly surprised by the tomato sauce, and that stracciatella cheese was perfect gooeyness of flavor. We shared a beautiful lettuce salad, but it did not appeal to us; too much frisee. Entrees though were the stars, I had the mafalde with heritage pork and veal bolognese. The pasta was perfectly cooked al dente, and its cut easily held the bolognese sauce. There was a delightful spiciness to it also. Then my husband had the cacio e pepe bucotini. This rich sauce was made with plenty of butter, parmigiana reggiano and pecorino romano. Yum! With all that we had to end with dessert, and we enjoyed the zabaglione and cherry chocolate budino. The budino was the winner, with delicious cherries hidden inside the thick chocolate dessert. We've also enjoyed espresso martinis before, but did not order tonight. Melfi's is a gem of Italian elegance in flavor, service and ambience. We will continue to return and experience it again.

I only noted a small parking area off a very busy street (at least mid-day on Memorial Day) that makes parking challenging. They do have several fans keepin it breezy on the patio, so I opted for that. Turns out I arrived at the "in-between" time (around 3:30): they only serve pizza between 3-4. I wasn't in the mood for pizza, so my server, Sarah, said she'd be back at 4 to take my order. Whelp! 4pm came and went and around 4:06 I asked a hostess to flag her. She appeared and went past my table right over to a couple she knew to spend a minute with them. When she came over to the table there was no, "Hey I'm sorry I was late getting back." Just, "Is it 4 o'clock yet?" Oops it's 4:09!" It wasn't that she was a few minutes late; it was that she went to say hello to friends before she came over to take my order and when she got there, she was very snarky. Guess customer service isn't everyone's thing. The Rigatoni with sausage and fennel ragu came out soon and it was tasty- I thought maybe it would have too much fennel, but not so. Sarah checked on all of the tables around me, but didn't so much as glance my way for about 40 min. The food was fine, but there are too many other options to put up with this kind of service. I won't be back.
