My wife and I enjoyed our evening at Ok Donna downtown Charleston. The vibe is similar to a New York supper club with a laid-back casual atmosphere and simple design. Since the owner owns two bars including Bar George, we had to of course sample the cocktails. They are known for their dirt martinis and the one my wife ordered did not disappoint. In addition to the usual vodka and olive brine it also had Calabrian chili flakes and an orange oil. The chili flakes gave it a nice heat and my wife who loves dirty martinis rated it one of the best she has ever had! I ordered the Pool Negroni with gin, rum, coconut, mint and lime which gave me tropical notes (and a cute little umbrella). We started with the slice of pep which looked thick but was actually light and airy. I read a reviewer refer to it as a bread course and I must agree. Fresh and flavorful it was a great starter. Up next we tried the arugula potato chip salad which sounded really intriguing. The arugula was very fresh with just a nice light coating of dressing. The house mad potato chips truly did act as croutons providing a nice salty crunch factor to the salad. Then we enjoyed our absolutely favorite dish of the night with the rigatoni carbonara. A generous portion with a rich but not too rich sauce and lots of big chunks of bacon which to me seemed more like lardons. I am not a carbonara fan, but I greedily wolfed down my share of this great dish. Just a note that all dishes are served family style and are meant to be shared. We decided a second cocktail was in order, so my wife had to get another dirty martini, and I tried the Freezer which was their gin martini. It was smooth and cold and refreshing. For our final dish we ordered the chicken Milanese which is a breaded cutlet topped with a Caesar salad. The cutlet was huge and the salad fresh but in hindsight having already eaten a salad it was a lot. When you go, I would recommend ordering one or the other and not both. The service was outstanding with our water glasses always full and fresh plates brought with each course. I also appreciated how handicap accessible it was with dedicated parking, wide entrances and flat layout so no steps to overcome. Definitely worth a try but make reservations early!

Adorable spot with a cozy relaxed vibe. Our server, Casey, did a wonderful job of pacing our experience. Attentive without being intrusive and very kind. I will be dreaming about that peach panzanella! Our fav of the night. The stuffed peppers were absolute perfection! The chicken Milanese was delish. Simple chicken cutlet topped with a rich, cool Caesar. Massive! The babka we barely had room for but it was 10/10! Fusilli was the only bust for us. Flavors all there but too salty to be edible. May just be a personal preference. We felt the salt overwhelmed everything else. Will certainly return to try other things as the menu changes regularly.

Okay OK Donna!! I see you!!! We had the best time! First off, the espresso martini and the beef tartare (if on the menu) are MUSTS!!! Like holy cow. I was ready for another of each the moment they were polished off. The bar and floor staff were amazing which isn't shocking given they are in the same family as Bar George and Last Saint who always blow me away with amazing service. You should totally give this place a try!!!

Went to OK Donna with my mom and had a good experience overall. It is definitely a very trendy spot in Charleston and I think the hype set expectations a bit high, but it was still enjoyable. Service was strong and very attentive, with the host checking in often. We sat on the back patio with heaters and it was packed for a Wednesday night. Atmosphere was fun and lively. Food was good but not great. The arugula salad was my favorite, and the lasagna was solid. Overall a four star experience with great service and energy, even if the food did not completely blow me away.

Had a nice night out! The drinks are fantastic and the food was great. Is it better than any other Italian restaurant in Charleston? no. But they had some fun, unique options. Especially the salad plates were creative and delicious. The service was great! I think the main course proteins were better than the pastas. Definitely worth checking out!

Ok Donna was more than Ok!! Everything we got was 10/10! My only "complaint" is that the diet coke glass is so tiny I had to order so many. But the food and service was exceptional. We got the wedge salad, foccacia, meatballs, & carbonara. The menu changes seasonally.

I thought this restaurant would be more true Italian which it's not, but incredibly creative mix of dishes. It's mostly small plates so fun to share. The menu seems to change a lot. A little more bar than restaurant. The drinks are super cool and well presented. Very much love this restaurant and it feels different for Charleston.

The two letter word "OK" can sometimes give a connotation of mediocrity, but in this case let's look to the origin of the word and what it means. It's a playful and intentional misspelling of the abbreviation of "Ol Korrect"--"All Correct" So now we know that "OK = All Correct A perfect description of our dinner at OK Donna! Last Night The indoor space is comfortable and cozy with a heated outdoor space that would be wonderful once the weather breaks. The service was quick and efficient with a friendly and chatty vibe. The food was very well executed and perfectly paced so as we finished the plates on the table, the next dishes were close on the heels of the previous course. Our table of 4 enjoyed: Roasted Cabbage- Miso Butter, Pecorino Roman Gnocchi Cacio e Pepe Malfadine Carbonara- Bacon, Caramelized Onion Spaghetti Scampi- Tarvin Shrimp, Tumeric, Garlic Breadcrumbs Osso Bucco- Yellow Grits, Horseradish Gremolata Chocolate Hazelnut Babka with Vanilla Ice Cream Add another, way more than ok restaurant to our goto list! This was an outstanding experience From the moment we walked in it felt welcoming and cozy. The vibe was perfect to be honest Drinks were absolutely phenomenal and I could have the cherry Negroni for the rest of my days The carbonara was fantastic and I'm so picky with my pasta Chocolate mousse was a perfect end to the night. So happy with this place and look forward to return

One of the best italian places I've been to in chs! Loved the vibe, the service was great, and the food was amazing.

So I've been here twice now. I am a huge fan of Bar George and the aesthetic that ok Donna is going for. I love the ambience inside, I like the music they play, I like the menu. The first time I came here, I had the arugula potato chip salad, a slice of pep, miso cabbage, and shrimp scampi. Of all of it, I have to say the cabbage and scampi were the best thing. I would return and order those things. The second time, I got the cacio y Pepe gnocchi and pork fusilli. I had to admit that it just wasn't that good. Moving forward I think I know what dishes to stick with and what to order here, because what I do like here is pretty damn good! But there are some things on the menu that are just eh. I will say the drinks here are PHENOMENAL and hats off to whoever made the drink menu. Also, my favorite thing about this place is the amount of cheese they add to everything: "excessive pecorino" is a quote from the menu. That is right up my alley!

i absolutely loved the atmosphere. great lighting and the music was really good. we sat outside and even with it being cold out, we were kept warm with the heaters. the service wasn't anything too special, nothing over the top that stood out to me, just regular. the salad was a good appetizer to have and the pasta was to die for. i could have 10 servings of that. for drinks, if you're looking for something sweet get the aperol and pineapple. if you're looking for savory, the dirty martini. overall, i loved this place. the pasta definitely makes me want to eat there again soon!

Wow. Just made a reservation. The decor and general vibes of this restaurant were so cool it felt like sitting in a mid century modern bar in Palm Springs. Wait staff was very nice and attentive. But most important the food was amazing. Dishes come out as they are made and everything is family style made for sharing. Everything was light and fresh, my husband voted this the best chicken Milanese he's had. Highly highly recommend. Patio is covered, so if that's the only way you can get a reservation, take it!!

This has been on my list for a while and I'll surely come back!…read more I started with the focaccia which was warm, airy and paired perfectly with the pimento forward olive tapenade and whipped ricotta. Enough for 3 people to have a sizable piece. If you're looking for an indulgent, knock your socks off pasta, GET THE TRUFFLE SPAGHETTI! It is completely worth the price and enough for 2 people to split to feel better about the spend. The lumache Nero had a solid kick to it and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. For dessert, we chose the olive oil cake and tiramisu. I'd definitely order the cake again especially to taste that lemon curd again! The interior is dimly lit, great for a date night or special occasion. There's an open kitchen so you can watch the food being cooked along with a large bar. Hostess was super friendly and then our waiter came by. Wish I could remember his name but he was excellent. Like can we be actual friends in real life!? Placed a drink order (my new bestie said the strawberry drink I was eyeballing was excellent- and boy was he right). We settled on sharing a breakfast pie and sandwich. That pizza could have been destroyed in one sitting. SO good. Sandwich was also delicious and the side salad and potato's made it perfect. The restaurant itself is beautiful! Would absolutely recommend and visit again. Thank you friends!

The building has an extensive history, even once serving as a Hebrew orphanage, to now being a beautiful restaurant. I love how the architects and interior design highlight the character of the building! The wallpaper on the main dining room on the second floor is truly gorgeous! For cocktails, we tried many! I got the almond sour (delicious) and my friends were pleasantly surprised they serve decaffeinated espresso martinis. My sister got a spritz, which she also enjoyed. I was also touched that the culinary team was kind enough to sign a birthday card for me. Our table also received complimentary cacio e pepe popcorn to snack on--yum! For appetizers, we got the tuna tar tar (Crudo di Tonno), the strawberry caprese salad, and some shrimp--all so delicious, that they FLEW off the plate! For mains, I got the Rotolo al Forno, which was VERY tasty. My friends got the chicken milanese, the Sorelle spaghetti, and the sworfish. For side dishes, we also got the meatball with polenta and some potatoes. For dessert, I got a complimentary birthday cannoli with a candle and the Limone (a berry and cream-filled dessert in the form of a lemon!) What. A. Meal!!! The food and the locale are just stunning. But of course, not cheap. As a whole, we paid a whopping $399.75 without tip! Was it worth it for a feast of glamour? I'd say so--but definitely not an every day treat unless you have the budget! Also, Lucy was our server and was exceptionally sweet and patient!

Stopped in on a really hot day…read more I opted for the pepperoni pizza because it's supposed to be made in a brick fire oven. Taleggio was recommended to the party sitting next to us, but they had them add sausage, which I wish I had done, but I didn't know about it until my order was already put in. With that said, the pepperoni pizza was definitely a four out of five. The only thing that would have made it a five out of five was a little bit more moisture to the crust or some type of garlic butter to it. The flavor was really good on the pepperoni. The crust was nice and chewy as far as the underneath. 4/5 Before I tasted it, when the waitstaff, who wasn't our waiter, ended up bringing the pizza to us, they asked if we needed anything. We asked for a sauce. I asked them what sauces they had. They gave us a couple of options. I picked two sauces, but unbeknownst to me, those sauces were dips, and the dips were $3 each. The young lady did not tell us that, unfortunately. One of the sauces was a garlic sauce, and the other thing was the restaurant's rendition of ranch. Both were rather bland. I'd have to give them a 2 out of 5. They weren't nasty, but they lacked flavor. My wife ordered this shishuka, which would be the eggs, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. She gave it a four out of five. I tasted it. The eggs were bland to me. I would give it a three out of five based on the two forkfuls that I had, but the waitstaff was amazing. I definitely want to go back to try their brunch and to try that other pizza without the extra sauces.
