This was a bit of a letdown. I'm very much the Italian food snob, as I'm Italian myself. The venue was very nice. I really appreciated the decor. The open space. It's just a great spot to have a restaurant. But the food? This was mid at best. The caprese salad was boring. No salt. The pesto added was pointless, it did nothing for the dish. Chicken parm was average. Small amount of protein & the edges were burnt. Let down for the price. The overall menu options didn't wow me. Didn't see a lot of creativity in the offerings. Got some takeout for my wife. Asked for soup. They brought out half a container. I said I need more, charge me double if needed. So that's now a $24 container of soup. I'd say they added less than half of a portion to that portion. The container still was barely half full. Complete ripoff. Service was fine. Nothing special. All in all, I'd say I've zero interest in returning here. I can go to my local pizzeria & have a better food experience for half the cost with more options. Bottom line, if you're gonna do Italian, don't phone it in. Bring your A game. Especially downtown. This place doesn't. It's for naive tourists if anything. read more

I think I have the most comical dinner date of all times. It's a regular Saturday night - going out to dinner with friends and it was our first time here. We all ordered drink, apps and entrees. It was close to 30 minutes before we had to ask where our apps were. Moments later our dinners came out. We all look confused and said "we didn't get our apps yet". Quick apology from the staff and they take the entrees away. We finally get the apps. This is where it gets extra strange. I'm in the middle of chewing my very pale tomatoes when the waiter comes back asking if I'm ready for my dinner. I simply look at him with my mouth full and say "I'm still chewing my appetizer, please give us some more time". The moment the staff sees we are finished, they put down our dinner plates, never picking up our dirty ones. I'm literally watching like . My girlfriend dives into her dish and is immediately frustrated with her meal as it was cold. I dig into my mashed potatoes, only to find them a hard top surface. My husbands was lukewarm at best. He looks at the waiter and says "were these plates under a heat lamp?" And waiter replies "yes, of course they were" (I think he thought that was a good thing to be left there all that time). We all decided we did not want our meals. Moments later, while we are sitting there waiting for the manager, the wait staff now bring over our apps-AGAIN! What the hell is happening here? Finally the manager (who was new to this restaurant), couldn't apologize enough. To say he was embarrassed is an understatement. In the end, he did the right thing. The restaurant only had a few customers, kinda red flag when all surrounding restaurants were packed. The waitress was nice and attentive. The bruschetta was ok, bread got soggy due to the topping overload. My ravioli was cold and just average. my daughter's spaghetti was cold as well but she loved the clams. Our server was knowledgeable of the menu and kept the pace at a reasonable level so we didn't feel like hurried. I had the seafood linguine then it was fantastic! I took a friend here for her birthday dinner and we had a great time. The service was excellent from our server to to the manager. The manager noticed that we were initially seated at a tiny table between the bar and other booths that was kinda tight and offered to move us to a more comfortable table. She then also gave us some insight on the wine and offered to get us a menu for next door in case we were looking for something different. We started with the scallop appetizer in a cream sauce which might have been my favorite dish of the night... but I'm obsessed with scallops. We also had a caprese which was topped with a thick pesto. They event split it into two plates since we were sharing it. For dinner, my friend go the 140z bone in pork chop which was fantastic. She was really craving a more traditional italian pasta dish and randomly went with this on a whim, but it was a great decision. I had the cheese stuffed tortellini which was done like a carbonara with peas and pancetta in a cream sauce. I also added a chicken cutlet on the side for some protein. My dish was good but fell a little short. The pasta was overcooked and the flavor just wasn't that exciting to eat what seemed to be a never ending portion of tortellini. I still enjoyed it, but would probably try something else on my next visit. After getting the check I'll definitely be back because I felt the prices were more than reasonable for the quality and to be dining downtown. read more

With an Auto 20% Gratuity and a Service Charge added to your check I understand the lack of the wait staff extending a great dinning experience to any guest. My wife and I had an enjoyable dinner at this establishment. I think the atmosphere was the most attractive part of the experience. The restaurant is set in an old building which underwent a transformation but still kept some of its charm. A very old world Italian feel. On to the food. Pretty good, but not stellar. I went for the pork chop. It was tender, but slightly overcooked even though I ordered it medium. The service, however, was excellent. Very attentive, but not overbearing. Finally, the price. Came here for a dinner on a bachelorette party and really enjoyed the place! We had a large table on the upper level. Our server was great at making sure our large party was taken care of. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful with exposed brick and large windows. The place is hidden on a pedestrian only alley which adds to the European feel of the restaurant. To drink, I had an aperol spritz which was so delicious in the summer heat. I appreciate how thin the glassware is here. To eat, I had the cheese tortellini with peas and pancetta. It was to die for!! I definitely could have split the portion with someone else because it was large and so rich. Every bite was flavorful. I have to say this place got an extra star because their staff works very hard and well as a team. They were clearly understaffed and things were a little slow but when you have 1 server and a bartender for all the tables, it's to be expected and they did it and stayed positive the whole time. The oysters Rockefeller and hot bread with oil were the best parts of dinner. The pasta was fine, left room for improvement. The restaurant itself is very neat looking. I was visiting Charleston and my family and I went here for a birthday. First off, the place was dead and the ambience was okay. It was old fashioned & artsy, music gave me savansana vibes. The food was average to terrible. They raved about a new executive chef, but the executive chef didn't even know what Italian dressing was. They came out to the table and told us she googled it. I've been coming to Vincent Chicco's maybe once a year over the last five years and this was the worst meal I have ever had. When dining at my favorite Italian restaurants I typically go with the classics, half because I can't pronounce the other stuff and half because I wouldn't know what they were even if I could. This time was no different and I went with the chicken parm, a safe bet. Somehow, even one of the simplest, safest dishes, was still terrible! Like I've had better chicken parm at Fazoli's! The cutlet was dry. It tasted as if it was par cooked and then just nuked to finish it off. Then instead of having the delicious melty gooey mozzarella, they threw a hard rind of parmesan on top! Oh man, what a disappointment. We had a group of 12 and from the start of the night it was just not good. The staff barely greeted us. We waited around the bar for the rest of our party. We ended up seating ourselves because we noticed the large table. After sitting there for about 15 minutes, somebody finally came over and asked if we wanted anything to drink. The service was poor all night long, although our waiter gave it his best effort. I think he was the only one working that night. The food quality was not good either. I had the seafood linguine and it was pure salt and butter and the pasta seemed like it was a few days old and left over. Last day in Charleston and we were craving some Italian food. Arrived around 630 and it was a bit slow but picked up by the end. On Mondays they do a special menu and I was glad they did! Started with a delicious gin martini and the other half had an old fashioned. Perfectly made! We weren't starving so we didn't start with a starter and went to entrees. I had the best chicken picatta of my life. Tangy, crunchy tender chicken and the most creamy mashed potatoes. Bf had the truffle pasta special and it was perfect balance of truffle, but not too much, and a really well cooked al dente pasta. For NYE, my boyfriend and I decided to go out for a nice dinner. I opened my handy-dandy Open Table app to see what restaurants still had reservations. Since we were looking for a last minute reservation on the day-of I wasn't super optimistic about what would be available. Once Vincent Chicco's appeared on the list, my boyfriend perked up and said that would be a great option. With other festivities happening later in the evening, the open 5:15pm reservation was exactly what we needed! Upon entering the restaurant I immediately got Beauty and the Beast vibes. The bar was beautifully decked out with Christmas decorations. I loved the vaulted ceilings, big windows, black and white mosaic tiled floor, huge staircase, and massive tarnished mirrors!  To begin we ordered some drinks and an appetizer. My boyfriend ordered an Italian margarita and I ordered a glass of the house bubbles since I was feeling festive. We also split the bruschetta. As we waited for our app to arrive, we snacked on some fresh bread with an olive oil dipping sauce. I thought it was a little weird that the dipping sauce was placed inside the basket with the bread. It didn't have a lid so it had spilled a little bit before it made its way to our table. Not that it made the bread any less delicious. I do love some snack bread before my bread appetizer. The bruschetta was slightly deconstructed so you could add as much arugula on top as you desired. This also meant there was some arugula left over, and it was quite delicious on its own. It was perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper and lightly tossed in olive oil with some parmesan cheese. I really enjoyed the crustiness of the crostini, freshness of the tomatoes and lightness of the whipped goat cheese too. For our main entrees we were both interested in the two short rib dishes. Unfortunately, our waitress informed us that the Short Rib Sugo had sold out. I then ordered the Tuscan Braised Short Rib and my boyfriend went for the classic Cacio e Pepe. We also shared an order of asparagus. My short rib was heavenly! It was so tender and flavorful and created a perfect bite along with the tuscan kale and potato puree. My boyfriend also really enjoyed his meal. Despite its simplicity it was still an outstanding dish. The asparagus was well seasoned with a nice slight char to it. Overall, we had a lovely dining experience and will definitely be back to try the Short Rib Sugo and I also had my eye on the Gnocchi e Pesto dish. read more

Legit Italian-American with high quality ingredients and attention to detail. The menu is full of great options, which makes it hard to choose. The pepperoncini sauce that comes with the calamari is heavenly and the Sunday gravy feels like you've just walked into a family dinner. Everything was fantastic, but very filling so definitely come hungry - though they will nicely package any leftovers for you to take home. They were out of the wine I wanted, but the Lemon Spritz I chose instead was delicious and refreshing. From the first moment we were sat at a table that rocked and rolled more than Elvis, I should have known this place had issues. It purports to be fine Italian food-- it is expensive but poorly run and poorly cooked. The mushrooms stuffed with sausage were good, but you only got three for $12- kind of expensive. The caprese salad had four slices of mozzarella and four pieces of tomato topped with pesto and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. Four small slices of hard bread and some vinegar and oil were delivered to the table. I had ordered chicken Marsala. It came with mashed potatoes and greasy green beans. I had asked about subbing pasta for the potatoes because I do not like mashed potatoes. I was told there would be a $2 upcharge. I said no because I thought for $28, they could sub a cheaper ingredient for the potatoes. Apparently not. I had asked if the dish came with mushrooms and was assured it did. When the meal arrived, there was one tiny slice of mushroom on the plate. The cutlet, potatoes, Marsala sauce, and green beans all looked like they had been frozen and reheated. When I questioned the presence of the mushrooms, I was told they might have dissolved in the gelatinous overtly Marsala sauce. I even showed the waiter the single mushroom. I ate the chicken cutlet-- Tyson makes better chicken and had a few green beans. A taste of the potatoes confirmed that they were not freshly made. For more than $100, I left the restaurant hungry and dissatisfied. Save your money, and don't bother with the warmed-up, previously frozen food. read more

Went in for a large family gathering. Sometimes that can be a challenge for a restaurant. Not this one. The service was excellent. Food was very good. Out of 10 of us, no one was disappointed. I'm from NY originally and there's no restaurant here that comes close to Delancy St Italian but this one is fairly close. It's at the beginning of a short alley way that's very quaint. Quick trip to C-Town for work and I had the good fortune to join a group for dinner at Vincent Chiccos. "Highly Recommend!" Anyone familiar with downtown Charleston knows parking can be frustrating. Near this location is a parking garage (sorry don't know the current $ rate) as well as a small, "attended" parking lot for a flat rate of $10. If you are lucky enough... you might grab one of the limited spaces with street parking. The staff very friendly and attentive while the atmosphere was inviting. My server actually picked my entree for the evening; crab linguini (see photo). My coworker ordered the pan seared Halibut (photo included). We did pre-game before the entrees were served with their cheese board and caprice salad (strongly recommend if not allergic). The meal was delish, plated nicely and ample portions. I made a reservation at Vincent Chicco's on 5/25 for my birthday, 6/2 (over a week in advance) We received our confirmation text that our table was ready and got to the restaurant on time. The hostess informed us she accidentally sat another party at our reserved table. She then asked if we'd want to sit at the bar. Again, it's my birthday and I made this reservation over a week ago. We declined sitting at the bar top and she sat us at a two top. We sat with no one acknowledging us for 15 minutes. No water or any greeting. I got up to ask a nearby server if someone was assigned to that table and he said they're "rotating" serving that table tonight and they're busy so no one's taken it. The bartender was short with me and unhelpful. We elected to leave and eat somewhere else. This was so disappointing especially considering we chose to celebrate my birthday here. I come from the fine dining business and the lack of care, hospitality, and professionalism was just unbelievable. read more
