This was the second night we hung out here and the first night was great, I do recommend walking downstairs to see the art installation it is VERY COOL. Our second night would not be a good review we were treated so rude by our waitress and she wouldn't come back to serve us. We had to go to the bar and the bartender was also rude and told us we had to sit at the bar to order a second round of drinks. We were a group of six that was just not possible, so we decided to leave. Although great views from the rooftop bar and the art downstairs, I would not come back to this bar to drink.

I honestly don't know what happened with this place. They went from bad to better (finally) to somehow worse than ever. This is officially the last time I will ever visit this establishment. What used to be great staff is replaced with people who seem to hate it there or don't know what they're doing. Any sort of assistance that requires a manger- good luck because they're never on the floor and you'll have to wait a millennia. The food quality has gone back to the way it was before unfortunately. I would only recommend getting drinks at this place (their mocktails are the same price as their cocktails by the way) but that's only if you don't mind overpaying. Whenever I don't like a place I always try to give them the benefit of the doubt, a bad day or something, but I do not believe this is the case for The Rooftop.

I usually love a rooftop bar for the views, vibes, and summertime feel. Unfortunately, there's not much of a view nor vibe. Maybe it was still earlier in the day, but it was a mixed crowd of older and younger people. We had one drink and ended up leaving. There's really not much to say here.

Very nice rooftop with great views and plenty of seating. There are two parts, both with bars. Service was nice. Salsa was 2/10, almost tasted like pasta sauce. Queso was 8/10, a little spicy but not overwhelmingly hot. Guacamole also 2/10. Avocados were not smashed enough. Little to no lime or other flavors. Chips were pretty good, a few were soft. I would definitely not order the trio again. Strawberry basil lemonade was so refreshing and not too sweet.

The view and ambiance was really nice, and I liked the artwork and decor. Service was a little slow, and I wasn't impressed by the cocktails. They were really basic for the price, and I expected more from the top rated rooftop bar in Charleston.

Great view, great service, decent drinks. The queso in the dip trip was great, and you get a solid amount of guac as well

For how nice of a location this place is, it was very meh. The service was mediocre. It took nearly 15 minutes for a server to come acknowledge us. We didn't get happy hour prices which was the whole point of stopping here. With how many places to get a drink on this city, I would save your time and check somewhere else out.

Great view and service. Definitely a fun place to hangout with good weather. Drinks and food were good as well.

We enjoyed ourselves during a brief visit Memorial Day Weekend. It was crowded but not overly so, and we were easily able to snag bar seats at the upper rooftop bar. The bartenders were prompt and pleasant, and the price for a glass of Rose was reasonable. Pretty basic wine but the pour was outstanding. The downstairs has quirky art in abundance to check out too.

I walked up to the rooftop and since i didn't really know the place, i didn't really know if it was seat yourself or wait to be seated. so i asked and the lady was a bit rude but i didn't think much of it and sat down. we ordered waters and then ordered off the menu. my Steak Frites was an easy 9/10. the green sauce that came on the side was absolutely delicious but the steak was a bit dry and the fries were also delicious. nothing too special about the burger, just a burger and the fries were a bit boring. the total came to about $63 with tip. The atmosphere was very pretty though. a nice view with nice music, people laughing in the background, just plan the time you'll go and take into account about the sun and the wind!

Nice rooftop venue overlooking the heart of downtown Charleston. Great start of the night enjoying a few cocktails. The Vendue also promotes different cocktail trails throughout the city, giving the adventurer a task to enjoy some of the finest cocktails Charleston has to offer throughout the city.

    Makes me want to redecorate.

Loved the rooftop and the food. I had a Shrimp stuffed cucumber boat. Never would have thought to put those two together with the avacado mouse, but it was three of my favorite things together. Dining g companions Libster Roll was fake as well. Our table had the best view of the waterfront. What's not to love?

Such a fun time here! Sat on the rooftop and watched the sunset! Had many cocktails and made new friends! Loved the Photo Booth!!

It was easy & we loved our lunches! I chose the double smash burger which was so delicious and filling! Loved it! Hubs chose the Cobb chicken salad and he loved it! Ate every bite & reports that the chicken was fried perfectly without too many clumps or batter lumps. We would absolutely come back for brunch items! Cool things: the bathroom wallpaper was epic, outside they have a water cooler with cups for self help access & a dog bowl for those who bring their pups. Loved that!

A group of about 8 of us went out for drinks Saturday (5/2/26). We were having a great time (respectful, quiet, not causing a problem). Last call hit at 1:30 so we decided one more drink before we went our ways home. 10 mins later we're were asked to leave the courtyard and head inside - not a problem. We will finish our drinks inside. 5 minutes after that, we were asked to take our last sips and leave. 15 mins before the posted closing time. Again, we weren't causing a problem, weren't loud, weren't disruptive. This was a group of 8, most of us well into our 40s (or older). But they were telling all guests to leave at 1:45a?? Just after we bought drinks? The posted hours say they close at 2a. Not 1:45a. Most of us left half finished drinks. The large bouncer was nice enough, the tiny one in a hoodie with glasses was totally unprofessional. So beware. The Blind Tiger has what it takes to remain a Charleston institution. Their staff, might ruin that chance.

Stopped in mid day on Saturday and didn't have a reservation and had to wait about 15 minutes which isn't too bad. You can walk around the hotel while you wait. They had a specialty fall cocktail menu which was super cool. I ordered the Haunted Market Street Margarita and it was amazing. It had charcoal simple syrup and lava salt which gave it such an interesting flavor. We shared the Pimento cheese appetizer and I am so glad we ordered. It was so good and the presentation was beautiful. I don't normally enjoy pimento but I did here. My parents shared the turkey club and said it was great. Will always stop by when I'm in Charleston. My wife has a fish allergy and they offered to prepare a vegetable plate for her. They prepared three vegetable dishes, which were all excellent. He recommended the boulliabase which was phenomenal. I would highly recommend it to anyone. My wife also had the arugula salad, which was excellent. I started with the chicken liver pate, which is all it is claimed to be. I honestly did not think that the blue crab ravioli was anything special. In fact I could have skipped that dish and had been fine and would've had more room to finish the shrimp in the boulliabase. Desserts were outstanding. Chocolate budin (pudding) was delicious. Rice pudding was also quite nice with the fresh strawberries. The place itself was nice. Dark lighting. They did a great job of staggering seatings so you're not sitting on top of each other. Wonderful meal and night.

It's not my favorite type of Mexican restaurant, as it's a little more upscale than I *personally* prefer, but if upscale Mexican is your vibe, then this'll be the perfect restaurant for you! They had an alright selection of beers, to include a couple of IPAs, but my friends and I didn't really enjoy their cocktails. They were expensive, but lacking in much flavor or zest. Besides looking cool, the taste didn't really match the aesthetic. Furthermore, the food was solid, but not that much better than your basic Mexican restaurant. As for the service, our waiter was nice enough, but he always seemed to be in a hurry, and was walking away while we were still trying to give our order. All-in-all, I'm probably making Matador sound worse than it was, but it was merely a slightly above-average Mexican experience, not a transcendental dining experience that I'll never forget. I'll give it 3/5 stars, and would recommend it based on your personal preference.
