I stopped by The Rooftop at The Vendue one night after being out, and I was starving. They were just about to close the kitchen, but the bartender was kind enough to squeeze in an order of chicken nuggets for me, and I'm so glad they did. I know it sounds funny to rave about chicken nuggets, but these were honestly some of the best I've ever had. They reminded me so much of McDonald's chicken nuggets in the best possible way. I stayed for a drink and ended up getting treated to an incredible thunder and lightning show over the city. It wasn't even raining, which made it even cooler to watch from the rooftop. Between the amazing views, the friendly bartender who saved me from going to bed hungry, and unexpectedly fantastic chicken nuggets, this ended up being one of my favorite stops in Charleston. I'll definitely be back for another drink...and another order of chicken nuggets. read more

This place has so much potential that it doesn't live up to. Starting off strong it's right beneath a beautiful art gallery, which created an exciting aesthetic before going up to the rooftop. The roof top however gives off more of a college/dive bar vibe despite having a great view of the city. When we went on Monday only one bar, the downstairs one was open. Despite there being servers it didn't seem that anyone wanted to take tables so the solution was for guests to order drinks/food at the downstairs bar and bring it up to the deck themselves. While the bartender was nice, fast, and good at her job everyone else around her just didn't seem to care to provide service. The chips on the trio platter were beyond stale and since servers didn't care to serve the top deck tables were left unbussed and dirty. Not sure if this experience was a case of severe understaffing or just negligence on the management. I'd recommend going to literally any other rooftop bar for a more elevated experience where the staff actually wants to serve the guests. read more

Kelly was amazing. Fantastic service, drinks, and food highly recommend in Charleston. This place has everything, cocktails, apps, bearded dragons, a disco ball filled with a fantastic Skyline Aviation cocktail. The ambiance is perfect for a day or night out. You can see the bay on the roof top across the street getting a little busy. Great show and atmosphere. read more

A for ambience! And obviously a very busy spot for watching the sunset. It was jam packed and while they do have servers, it was very crowded. If you go to the bar to order, it's tough if you want more than one adult beverage. (Bring them with .) Good view! read more

Upon arriving at the rooftop bar, we were immediately met with an unfriendly attitude from one of the bartenders. Her colleague politely asked whether we'd like to sit at the bar or at a table, and we responded that we wanted to order a drink and walk around to enjoy the rooftop. Instead of simply taking our order, the bartender accused one member of our group of being "sassy" and said she "didn't care for it." The comment was completely uncalled for and made us feel unwelcome from the moment we arrived. Customer service sets the tone for an experience, and unfortunately this interaction overshadowed what could have been an enjoyable visit. I hope management addresses this, as no guest should be treated that way. We left and had a pleasant visit at Grill 225 rooftop. read more

We made a pitstop here for some rooftop drinks after our dinner reservation. The weather was perfect and we caught a beautiful sunset. It was a very relaxed vibe with nice music and we had a great time! Drinks were very basic, high noons, and Corona light. Service was quick & good! read more

I honestly don't know what happened with this place. They went from bad to better (finally) to somehow worse than ever. This is officially the last time I will ever visit this establishment. What used to be great staff is replaced with people who seem to hate it there or don't know what they're doing. Any sort of assistance that requires a manger- good luck because they're never on the floor and you'll have to wait a millennia. The food quality has gone back to the way it was before unfortunately. I would only recommend getting drinks at this place (their mocktails are the same price as their cocktails by the way) but that's only if you don't mind overpaying. Whenever I don't like a place I always try to give them the benefit of the doubt, a bad day or something, but I do not believe this is the case for The Rooftop. read more

This was the second night we hung out here and the first night was great, I do recommend walking downstairs to see the art installation it is VERY COOL. Our second night would not be a good review we were treated so rude by our waitress and she wouldn't come back to serve us. We had to go to the bar and the bartender was also rude and told us we had to sit at the bar to order a second round of drinks. We were a group of six that was just not possible, so we decided to leave. Although great views from the rooftop bar and the art downstairs, I would not come back to this bar to drink. read more

Very nice rooftop with great views and plenty of seating. There are two parts, both with bars. Service was nice. Salsa was 2/10, almost tasted like pasta sauce. Queso was 8/10, a little spicy but not overwhelmingly hot. Guacamole also 2/10. Avocados were not smashed enough. Little to no lime or other flavors. Chips were pretty good, a few were soft. I would definitely not order the trio again. Strawberry basil lemonade was so refreshing and not too sweet. read more

For how nice of a location this place is, it was very meh. The service was mediocre. It took nearly 15 minutes for a server to come acknowledge us. We didn't get happy hour prices which was the whole point of stopping here. With how many places to get a drink on this city, I would save your time and check somewhere else out. read more

We enjoyed ourselves during a brief visit Memorial Day Weekend. It was crowded but not overly so, and we were easily able to snag bar seats at the upper rooftop bar. The bartenders were prompt and pleasant, and the price for a glass of Rose was reasonable. Pretty basic wine but the pour was outstanding. The downstairs has quirky art in abundance to check out too. read more

I walked up to the rooftop and since i didn't really know the place, i didn't really know if it was seat yourself or wait to be seated. so i asked and the lady was a bit rude but i didn't think much of it and sat down. we ordered waters and then ordered off the menu. my Steak Frites was an easy 9/10. the green sauce that came on the side was absolutely delicious but the steak was a bit dry and the fries were also delicious. nothing too special about the burger, just a burger and the fries were a bit boring. the total came to about $63 with tip. The atmosphere was very pretty though. a nice view with nice music, people laughing in the background, just plan the time you'll go and take into account about the sun and the wind! read more

Maybe we caught them on a bad night, but we did not stay long. They ran out of every entree except for the bbq chicken burger. They did not tell us about this until AFTER we put in drink orders. We got the Greek plate as an appetizer and it was not good. Hummus tasted store bought and pita was so stale it was hard to bite into. Would not return. Additionally, the waitress asked us to rate the restaurant 5 stars and mention her, which I found a little out of place because they had zero food. Weird. read more

Loved the rooftop and the food. I had a Shrimp stuffed cucumber boat. Never would have thought to put those two together with the avacado mouse, but it was three of my favorite things together. Dining g companions Libster Roll was fake as well. Our table had the best view of the waterfront. What's not to love? read more

We decided to sit up top for the beautiful view. The food and drinks were great. I highly suggest the strawberry basil lemonade and the shrimp/cucumber boat, as well as the lobster roll. Our service was lacking, which is why there were 3 stars. She never refilled it water or ask if we wanted more drinks, so they lost out on $. She catered to the young drunk guys next to us the whole time. I had to flag her down several times. read more

Not a fan, maybe it was just a super busy day or we should have chosen to stay downstairs instead of up on the roof. You could tell the staff was trying to keep up but we were overlooked twice before anyone spoke to us and by then we went and got our own drinks and brought them to our table. I would visit again to stay at the hotel and try out the restaurant downstairs though. read more

A bit of a strange setup- you just go up and choose an empty spot. Luckily there were some, so we sat despite the tables being dirty. Our server was on top of his game, though. I don't even think he wrote anything down and there were 7 of us. All the drinks were made correctly and the food we got for the table was pretty tasty. I wasn't the biggest fan of the espresso martini I ordered, but the coconut drink I had made me feel like I was on the beach. Definitely enjoyed the company and the service. And the truffle fries. Not much of a view from where we were, but it was nice to be up top. read more

We sat outside at the Rooftop Bar when we first got there. The only food we had were truffle fries, because we had reservations for dinner. The view was spectacular. We couldn't stay outside for very long because it was 32 degrees and unfortunately they don't have heaters for the outside seating. It got really cold, so we went to the inside area of the bar at sat dir awhile. There were heaters there so it was definitely more comfortable. Justin was our server and he was amazing. read more

My husband and I were looking for a nice rooftop bar to kick off our vacation in charleston and sadly this place didn't exactly hit the mark. While the view was nice the vibes were off, playing weird music, and the layout isn't great. We grabbed the last open table and we went up to order from the bar and a waitress asked if we wanted service and we said yes and she offered to wait on us at our table. We ordered drinks and an app and one of the drinks was not good. When I asked for something different she made a stink about having to get a manager if we wanted it off the bill. I said it was okay, but I definitely wanted something else. The Mac and cheese bites were delicious but the cocktail we had and wine was still just okay. When the bill came she did remove the bad drink but we did not get happy hour prices as advertised in the menu. Based on how she approached the bad cocktail we didn't want to make a fuss about the bill too. Based on our other experiences in town after this, don't waste your time as the staff everywhere else is super friendly and the drinks are better elsewhere. read more

The rooftop leaves a bit to be desired. We sat outside and there was only one server in the section. I think they should staff it a bit better bc I visited during the first Friday art walk. The view is nice not as great as some of the other rooftops in downtown, but it was still a nice view . My friend and I both ordered a shrimp quesadilla but they only give you a few shrimp and so there wasn't enough to spread through the entire quesadilla. Grabbed a nice, casual lunch near one of the open windows (but thankfully in the shade, we were hot!). Our server was very attentive and nice, she quickly checked in on us various times but it never felt like too much! We had the chips and trio of dips to start, and the BBQ chicken sandwich. Came here with a GF-friend and she had a decent selection of food to choose from, but also chose the BBQ chicken sandwich, no bun and sauce on the side. We both enjoyed our meals! The waitstaff doesn't seem to be assigned certain areas. We had to go find our own menu. We ordered drinks and chip trio. The chips came out right away but the drinks came out 15-30 minutes later. The chips were greasy, the queso was decent. If you are looking for homemade salsa and guacamole then this isn't the place. For the prices you are better finding somewhere else. The hotel vibe downstairs seems amazing and I'm sure that restaurant is fabulous. I would avoid this rooftop bar unless you have lots of time to wait for drinks and food. read more

Decent drinks and bar food. We visited The Rooftop on a hot summer day, and it was about half full. The view isn't most exciting, but you can see the rooftops of a number of surrounding buildings. I tried the Irish peach mule to drink, and we split the heirloom tomato dip. The mule was good at the beginning, but, as the ice melted in the heat, it became more watery. The heirloom tomato dip was okay, but nothing I would want to eat again. Overall, I had a decent experience at The Rooftop, but there are better options in Charleston. read more

This place could have gotten 5 stars if the service had been more responsive and other staff had catered to a better dining experience. The location and rooftop view is beautiful, it's absolutely worth checking out just for that! The food was good and seemed to be priced fair for the area. The main detractor was the slow service. It seemed like there was only one wait staff member for the entire rooftop, which definitely should be increased. One of our drinks didn't arrive until we were done eating our food, and we also waited a very long time for the bill when it was time to go. Water was not refilled and it just overall felt like guests were forgotten about. Many tables around us experienced the same things or worse then what we did. I also thought Ketchup packets was an interesting choice. Overall I think this has the potential to be a great experience. Perhaps they were just understaffed tonight. I would certainly recommend it even with the draw backs in mind. It's such a pretty view of the cityscape from up there! read more

We came in for drinks and had a great experience! The rooftop offers a great view of historic Charleston and the weather was perfect. Service was good and helpful. To drink, I got the Blush martini. I love anything with gin and lavender and it was lovely. Our group also did green tea shots and we liked them a lot. This is a fun place to relax with some food and drinks. read more

They have some great views of the town and the water. We went on Monday , and it wasn't packed . I'm sure it fills up on the weekends. I had a shrimp quesadilla, it was tasty. Food, service and ambience was out of this world. I believe the bartender was Chris he was very attentive and makes amazing drinks. We sat at the bar on the rooftop and had the following: Caught In The Rain (Mock-tail) Coconut Puree, Lime, Pineapple Margarita Shrimp & Cucumber Boat Blackened Shrimp, English Cucumbers, Avocado Mousse, Smoked Buttermilk Dressing Mediterranean Grilled Chicken Salad Feta, Kalamata Olives, Cherry Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Artichokes, Chopped Lettuce, Greek Vinaigrette We were actually going to the Bohemian rooftop but the views were not good at all. My wife got the Ruby Ruby which is sort of a pomegranate martini with champagne. Refreshing and vibrant. For appetizers we had the blue crab fritters and the pork belly. The fritters were crispy, light, and full of crab flavor. Virtually no filler. I could have eaten a hundred. The pork belly was crispy, and rich without being too heavy. They also serve it in a white sauce that I was still thinking about the next day. For entrees we got the Roasted grouper and the pork shank. The grouper was maybe a bit overcooked and dry, but the accompanying butter beans stole the show. The were rich, and layered with flavor. I will never see the simple butter bean in the same way ever again. The pork was fall off the bone tender without being dry. The sauce it was served in was a masterpiece. There were hints of apple, berry, cinnamon, and many other notes, I would drink it by the glass if it was available. We split the gelato for dessert. Pure delight. Smooth, bursting with flavor, and leaving you wanting for more. All in all, except for a small misstep with the cook on the grouper a near perfect dinner. I would go there soon because a Michelin star can not be far off, and then getting a table will be a near impossibility.

Their bowl was left clean so while they are not the talkative of sorts they did seem to enjoy it. Ordered a baguette with butter. Unfortunately the butter never made it to the table but the baguette was enjoyed. Spouse had the Azur burger with the side of tapas style potatoes. All was cooked properly to temperature and texture. Flavor and taste as promised. Wasn't their favorite dish at Azur as we had tried so many lovely dishes a few evenings before. But it did deliver on what was represented in the menu. Other in law had the quiche and a side salad. They liked the quiche and would order it again.

And what a great choice that was! Our waiter, Clifton, took great care to explain the specials, suggest drinks, and introduce us to menu favorites. We enjoyed a fried green tomatoes appetizer over grits, Caesar salad, a lobster crab shrimp roll, a catch of the day, and an adult beverage. No less than Victor Hyman, a great-great-grandson of the founding Hymans, stopped by our table to make sure we were enjoying everything the restaurant had to offer. Check the brass plaque on your table or the plates hanging on a nearby wall to see the names of celebrities who have eaten there before you. But the biggest gem of all was Clifton, who managed several tables, but never let our water glasses drop below half full, who explained the restaurant's donation program (you select the charity, they give the money), and who pointed us to a sign on the wall that each employee passes every time they enter the kitchen: "Kindness matters. Attitude is everything." We felt it.
