I stopped by on two occasions to pick up running supplies for my wife, and left this store quite impressed with the customer service, inventory selection, and overall good vibe that is within here. I greatly appreciate being around employees that not only know what they are talking about, but also enjoy what they do within their job. This aspect is quite evident at OK Runner. The employees are very patient in finding the right shoe for you, in addition to supplies. One employee was completely honest with me in stating that he didn't think the runner's tape would be effective when it came to relieving stress on my wife's shins. I purchased it nonetheless, and she raved about it. Although I wasn't pressured into purchasing it, I definitely appreciated the honesty of the employee. If there is one impression that I got from this store, its that they want to help you find the right item, as opposed to just selling you an item, or upselling you on stuff that you don't need. Went into OK Runner Norman a few months ago as my ASICS were too heavy and hurting my feet after a month back into running, after some talk and observation the employees helped me find the perfect shoe. New Balance 880. The most perfect shoe I could've asked for. The first day I ran 11 miles, amazing feel, never had to "break them in" like other shoes and more importantly my feet/knee problems were instantly solved. Last week I did my first Olympic distance triathlon and I currently have my eyes set on a half distance iron and the OKC memorial marathon. I might have to stop back in to get another pair, or have another brief talk with the staff to see if anything else in stock would be recommended for the longer distance. 10/10 would recommend OKRunner for not only their product collection, but their service and friendliness. read more

Our son is running cross country this year and we wanted to make sure to start him off with a great pair of running shoes. We were in Norman and decided to stop in at OK Runner. First, this store does not have all the equipment that other running stores have to determine the proper running shoe. Honestly, it is not needed with the staff at OK Runner. The staff member that helped our son watched the way he walked, looked at his shoes and discussed with him the feel of the various running shoes. Our son picked a pair of Asics that he loved and said they felt fantastic. We were also impressed with the discount given to student-athletes. Pretty awesome place to go and get your gait tested, then fitted with a proper shoe. Great selection, typically fair prices, and knowledgeable staff that will help you out. They also have running clothes for all kinds of weather, miscellaneous gear like water bottles and belts, energy supplement packs, and things to help heal/deal with injuries. If you are looking for some quality running shoes or running accessories, this is the place to go. The employees are all very knowledgeable about shoe styles and will help you pick out shoes that fit properly. To help you find the proper shoe, your stride will be examined to determined how your feet work (i.e. do you pronate or supinate) and they will suggest shoes that will correct your issues. After checking my stride, a couple pairs of shoes were suggested, one moderately priced and one expensive. It was suggested that I take both pairs of shoes outside for a test run, which I did. I ended up picking the more expensive shoes, but it was well worth it. The shoes were perfect! Overall, great store, friendly and knowledgeable employees, good selection. read more

Swung by to pick up a pair of running socks and look at some inserts. I've been to basically every running store in the Metro area, but I probably won't go anywhere else. Incredibly knowledgeable/helpful staff; everyone dropped what they were doing to help solve my blister problem. Best of all, no one seemed very interested in upselling me. They just listened to what I had to say, made recommendations, and let me make my own decision. I'll gladly pay 10-15% over online prices for their expertise and the chill environment. read more

OK Runner is a Norman staple for runners, joggers, and walkers and has been for many years. I buy every pair of running shoes here. The staff is friendly, the selection is good and the staff are all runners and are knowledgeable on the products. You might be thinking... "A running store where the sales people actually know about running?" but its true! You wont find high school kids making minimum wage here. I've been to OK Runner a few times and every time I go I am less and less impressed than the time before. The first time I was completely ignored when I was looking for a new pair of shoes and after about 10 minutes I asked one of the gals for help. I am an experienced runner and knew a lot about the shoe I was trying on, but talking to her it was apparent she didn't have a clue about any of the features of the shoe I was talking about. Every time I go to OK Runner there is something specific I am looking for and every time I have had to find the item on my own because no one ever asks if they can assist me in any way. I've also waited a long time at the register when there is no line because the girls are busy talking and laughing with one another and were too busy to notice that I was ready to check out. My mom has needed good shoes for a very long time. She is currently in physical therapy for a muscle defect in her calf. When she went to this store she was significantly mistreated by the employees that ignored her so much that other customers were concerned. When she discussed her issue with the owner/manager, he was far from courteous. She left this store very upset. My mother struggles with her thyroid causing her to be overweight and she left feeling as if she was ignored and treated badly due to her appearance. Considering the owner could not come up with a reason that she was treated this way, I assume she is right. We never have service this bad and I think buyers should know what to expect. read more

I was in the store this afternoon with my young grandson wanting to buy new running shoes and some socks. Could not get anyone to assist me. There were 2 guys on the computer at the desk and one young gal standing between them against the wall. There was only one other customer in the store looking at shoes and was being helped by another store person. Why they could not see I was there to purchase, is beyond me. My family has bought our running shoes here for over 10 years. The guys have always been super helpful and super polite. They let you try the shoes on and then go run in them. I find it really hard to believe that they would be rude to a customer and not except shoes back as long as they weren't torn up. I have been running since junior high school track and have bought all my spikes, trail, and street running shoes from here. I occasionally shop at road runner sports but that is because I don't live in the OKC-Norman area anymore. Every time I go visit family I stop in the store to buy shoes for myself, my husband, and soon will be for my son! My dad shops here all time and always refers friends here, and he use to be a competitive runner and triathlete. Like I said I am not sure what happened with the Joe M. review, but I assure you, this is the most helpful running store for anyone. Whether you are a beginner or a competitive athlete. read more

A year or so ago, my wife and I bought running shoes at OK Runner in Norman. I went back today to buy another pair. I walked in, sat down in the shoe section, and waited. Two employees were helping other customers with their shoe purchases. Both employees looked bored and tired, and neither one said anything to me, or even looked in my direction. After several minutes of being ignored, I stood up and spent some time looking over the shoes on display. A couple of employees were chit-chatting on the upper level, but still no one came to help me. After about ten minutes I decided to walk out; which I did - right past the chatty employees on the upper level. No one ever acknowledged my presence; I felt like an invisible man. Maybe they ignored me because I'm old and fat - which I am. It doesn't really matter, but it so happens they were ignoring a retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel and Vietnam vet who is presently a close-to-retirement college professor. But again, all of that is irrelevant. What should matter to OK Runner is that they lost my family's business today - and they lost it forever. I drove about one mile to a similar business in the Sooner Fashion Mall. I was greeted in less than 10 seconds by a cheerful employee, and was in and out with my new pair of shoes in about the same time it took me to be ignored at OK Runner. read more
