They never come to check on you, never fill up your water & you have to chase them down to get what you ask for. Brought us the bill immediately after setting our food down. Stopped in with my family of 5 tonight (Sunday) at about 5:30pm. It was very busy but we were greeted about a couple minutes after we walked in. We weren't sure whether to stay by the door or go up to register. (A sign would've be nice). We were told the wait would be 20 min so we waited. Then more people came in and there wasn't a lot of space to stand and wait (just 2 chairs). We were finally seated about 20-25 min. Mood was great and we were ready to order up some ramen. However, shortly after sitting down, our server Reuben informed us that they were getting slammed with Ramen orders and recommended we stick with sushi or hibachi since the ramen would take "a bit longer." I asked if he had a rough estimate time-wise and he said about 45 min to 1 hour! We thought that was too long after already being at the table so we swapped to sushi and hibachi. We only ordered 3 hibachi meals at the time because my wife was unsure what it was. But after 5 minutes of convincing her, I was able to get her a hibachi order placed 5 minutes after our initial order. The sushi came out quickly along with our appetizers (though the shrimp tempura came out late after the rest) and we were feeling great! We were excited to get our hibachi meals. After 20 min of finishing our appetizers and sushi, we noticed guests who were seated around the same time as us were being served ramen and we still hadn't received our hibachi meals. The whole point of us switching our entire order from ramen to hibachi was to avoid a long wait time. Finally, after waiting about 45 min after ordering, we finally got 3 of our 4 hibachi meals! What was the point then of swapping out the ramen we really wanted?! And the hibachi meals were more expensive!! We shared the 3 meals, still hadn't received my wife's order until 1 hr later from the initial order!! By the time we received her meal, we had pay the check and already had our leftovers ready in to-go boxes and waited another 15 minutes to receive my wife's meal, already prepped in a to-go container (how considerate). Server seemed very impartial to our experience. He asked how was the food and I said "it was alright." His response "sorry to hear." I told him we could've had ramen since the wait time was the same. He said "yeah, sorry about the wait, have a safe drive home." We finally left around 7:15p. Started out great but slowly went south. The only good thing was the Yum Yum sushi roll and appetizers. Steak hibachi that was ordered medium arrived well-done. Their fried rice looks more like soy sauce-soaked white rice with very little bits of egg. Wished we had a better experience, but definitely left a sour taste for our family for the rest of the night. read more

We tried this local Ramen spot on a Saturday evening. When we arrived, we got sat at a table right away. Everything we ordered was very delicious and the service was friendly and on point. We ordered the Cucumber Salad, Spicy Garlic Edamame, Gyoza with pork, Salmon Nigiri, Spicy Miso Tonkotsu, and Shoyu Chicken Ramen. If you are craving some delicious Ramen I recommend this spot! It was our first time in this resto, the portions were generous. I decided to get the pork tonkutso, the pork was fried/seared it was a bit dry. I prefer the traditional steamed/boiled pieces of pork. My son was satisfied with his tempura ramen, it came with 2pieces of tempura, 3 would have been better considering the generous amount of noodles. We also got katsu ramen, the fried chicken was on the side, it was a bit dry as well but my son was okay with it. The eggs on all the ramen was perfectly cooked. The broth was too salty for us. The eel roll was good however, the roll was not too tight, the rice and ingredients are falling off. The service was fast and the staff were friendly. We used to get take out from this place during the pandemic as we live close by. So we we decided to try the dine in. Its a small place but table are placed with good access around it and not too close to each other. They mostly keep the door open so there were small insect flying around. We were greeted by the server and seated 5mins after. The service is excellent and the staff are very attentive. Food came in fast and the portion are big. We ordered our usual karaage, fried siomai, ramen, asparagus and crab sushi and my favorite Habachi Steak. Unfortunately, this time the food are lacking on flavor. I barely leave an unfavorable review, but I had to leave one for this restaurant. I came here before my friend because we decided on sushi. I walked in, and there was no one at the hostess stand. I stood near the hostess stand, confused if I should stay where I was at. I stayed in the front for several minutes, and I walked up to one of the workers to ask where I should wait. He said I needed to wait by the door. I went back, and the rest of staff ignored me while I waited by the door. There was no acknowledgment of my presence in the 10 minutes or so of waiting, so I decided to leave. All I needed was a simple acknowledgement. Okay...I REALLY wanted to like this spot because it's in the neighborhood but it just did not hit the spot for me. The service was wonderful, however the food was disappointing considering how large they're ramen and hibachi dishes were. Honestly the food tasted just mediocre to me. I wouldn't come here for sushi, go elsewhere where they're more known for sushi and I'd go elsewhere for hibachi. The garlic edamame and spicy garlic edamame were eh. Nothing great about it. The hibachi dishes were okay. I got the chicken hibachi dish for my kids and they shared it and I'm glad they did because the portions were huge and filling and my niece got her own chicken hibachi. My sister got the shrimp hibachi and yellowtail sashimi. The yellowtail sashimi was probably my favorite thing there...maybe the only thing I liked. The sushi was no bueno, sorry. The ramen was so so. Not bad but not great everything just didn't taste amazing to me. I did like the pork in it though, that was pretty good. Our bill was $160 (including tip) and they added they're own tip on there so just be weary of that. Our drinks were refilled and the server kept checking on us. We ordered two ramen. One ramen was your regular tonkatsu. And the other had lobster in it. To have a lobster in your ramen is special. Recently went here on a Sunday. Parking is crowded, but it was easy to get a table. Ordered the tonkotsu ramen and mixed tempura. Tempura was fresh and hot, perfect. The ramen was great except that I wish it was hotter (temperature) and not just warm. Also, it's a big bowl and comes with a lot of broth, but I felt that it should have come with more noodles. This place had all the things. I couldn't find anything to critique about it, honestly. The waiter was quick, the food came out quickly, and everything tasted really good. The establishment was clean, the parking was ample (big shopping center), and prices were current market prices-ish. The Tonkatsu Black Garlic Ramen was $15, and the Salmon Lovers Roll was also about $15. The fish was very fresh, the spicy salmon inside the roll wasn't mixed with mayo (which sometimes I'm a little apprehensive about, bc the mayo can be too much), and I always try to order rolls with lemon slices atop. It's a very balanced roll. The fish texture was not mushy, either. The ramen--my husband is picky about his broth (his favorite is Tajima's). He said he's been disappointed by other ramen spots, but he said this was just as good as Tajima's. He wanted bok choy in his ramen, but they serve this with cilantro instead. Perfectly cooked soft-boiled egg with a velvety, creamy yolk. The pork belly still had some crisp to it. That, along with the bamboo shoots provided some nice crunch. Al dente noodles, with the right amount of chew. Furthermore, the dish itself wasn't overly salty, like some other spots. I would definitely come here again, if I'm around. We live about 30 min away, so not exactly in the neighborhood. read more

I went on a sunday night around 5:30. They were backed up on the ramen which was fine we didn't mind the wait. We ordered gyoza, edamame, and sushi. The sushi and gyoza came out quick but they forgot the edamame and it was because they gave our order to another table. I got the spicy miso tonkatsu and it was okay the noodles were definitely not cooked well , I couldn't finish it because I started to get a bad stomachache and as soon as I got home I threw up most likely got food poisoning. I've no complaints when it came to the food which is always great, Lastly, I ordered the fried cheesecake for dessert that I shared with my daughter and she enjoyed it as much as 1 did. The cheesecake was roughly 5% still frozen, but not enough for me to complain about it. Ambiance: the store itself is very welcoming with plenty of seating. They had a radio station playing through their overhead which had a great diversity of music from hiphop, inb, and to classical rock. Wifi is available which is great due to there's not a strong cell phone signal within the building. They were very receptive in me asking for the password, as it's at the front to where the register is located. Overall: I enjoyed myself here. This was our second or third time here. It's a small hole in the wall store. Tonight, we tried their Hibachi Salmon Meal comes with tossed Salar and a cup of miso soup. The salmon was marinated in a soy sauce base and grilled. Nice and moist, not over cooked. Mixed vegetables sautéed in a soy sauce. White steamed rice and thin soba noodles. The salad was good. My family and I are creatures of habit. We have are favorite places and tend to stick to them especially with the crazy schedules we have. We occasionally try something new when we notice the reviews are just screaming "Must Go!" or in this case, it's new, it's local, and we were just too tired to leave the area. We love ramen and I've mentioned before in other posts how finicky we are since a Japan trip. So it was with a bit of a "wish for the best and expect the worst" attitude that my wife and I checked in to Okama. To us, not the best but not the worst either. We love chicken karagge and it's always a family treat. I would not order this one again. First, it was chicken breast. What? No dark meat? Strike one. A little dry. The crust did not stick to the chicken. Strike two. The final strike was it came with a sauce drizzled on top of it. Maybe I'd forgive it if the other two strikes had not occurred but the sauce, a double spread of what I think was a katsu and mustard type dressing was not needed. A great fried chicken doesn't need any sauce unless maybe you're looking for heat. I think the kitchen should revisit this recipe. We ordered a Tonkatsu Shio Ramen. Good portion. Comes with two pieces of chashu, one split soft-boiled egg, bamboo, bean sprouts. Broth could use more flavoring. How do I figure that? If I go to Menya or HiroNori, I drink every last drop. Not here. Not sure if they make their own noodles. Would have preferred a little more fat on the pork. Tried the Hibachi combination plate of chicken and shrimp. Both proteins were done well. Not dried out and the sauce was not overpowering. The vegetable mix of zucchini, mushrooms, carrots, and onions were crisp and not soggy. The fried rice and noodles side were bland. There was a very large time difference between this and the ramen which bugged me. To their credit, they had a steady stream of takeout and every table was occupied so the kitchen was definitely maxed out. Still, like 20 minutes between our two dishes? We dined inside and tables were spaced out pretty well. Sanitizer, gloves, masks. Service was very attentive and polite. They are still new and it looks like they have a growing fan base. The other day I was talking to my sister and boyfriend about ramen and how there are no good ramen restaurants in this area (I didn't like Khanya when I tried it years ago and I do not trust ramen at Bento & Noodles). Then a few days later, I saw OKAMA pop up on my Yelp. I showed my sister their photos and we were curious of the taste (and a little nervous). Their ramen is also $14+, which is more than typical ramen spots, so we were a bit hesitant because we were unsure if we'd like it for the price. It was a rainy day, so we just pulled the trigger. I ordered the black garlic ramen and my sister ordered the spicy tonkatsu ramen. First of all, their packaging is smart and convenient. It's a to-go container of the broth, with a detachable container of the noodles and other toppings, which you just dump into the broth! It makes it super easy to eat. The black garlic ramen is somewhat comparable to RakiRaki's version, but without all of the actual garlic in it. If you are not a garlic lover, I would not suggest this, but personally it has a rich and great flavor. My sister could not stop talking about how good her ramen was, so we knew we had found a winner! Such a winner that we ordered from them again a few days later. We ordered three spicy tonkatsu ramens and a chicken karaage. I appreciated how they individually wrapped each ramen in case of spillage. I tried the spicy tonkatsu myself and it was amazing! It can be pretty spicy, but the flavor of the broth is just so good. I loved everything about this ramen and it is comparable to Tajima's version. One thing I really like about Okama in comparison to Tajima is that their pork chasu is not very fatty. We were nervous to order the karaage because it is not good everywhere (Tajima's is good with that crispiness), and when we saw Okama's, it looked different. There was sauce drizzled all over it, but it smelled delicious. Verdict: it tasted just as delicious. It was different, but we really liked it. Overall, this place is a winner when it comes to ramen (and I can be very picky). Their portions are pretty generous, especially the noodles. Also, the workers that I've encountered are so sweet. We will definitely keep coming back and are excited to try their sushi and hibachi next. read more
