Updating my review a few years later to say that I still love this place just as much all these years later, maybe even more? If you know me, you know my love for this place. I crave their food constantly! My go-to's as evidenced by my pictures is the spicy tuna roll, the salt n pepper wings and the dragon wings. I've only ordered the Salt & Pepper wings at Bento & Noodles a Japanese Restaurant located at the Terra Nova Plaza in Chula Vista, CA. The outdoor name is listed as China China Restaurant I'm assuming it used to be a Chinese restaurant purchased by a Japanese restaurant?? The restaurant has a section for takeout orders only and they were really busy with takeout orders. The restaurant has a selection of fresh sushi and large sushi platters and Bento Box combos. They also have good lunch specials. Anyways, I was craving the salt+pepper wings and sadly, they were not as seasoned as the last time we ordered them. Surprisingly great food and generous portions. When you walk into this restaurant you may falsely judge it based on the old school buffet vibes. Don't. The food here is great. Everything from the Salmon Sashimi rice bowl, Udon noodles, Beef & Teriyaki bowl and Bento boxes were fresh and well portioned. The food arrives quickly with great presentation. We were all little skeptical of a Chinese Japanese fusion restaurant but very surprised and pleased. Plenty of seating and very friendly staff. We were seated quickly and our drink orders taken immediately. The menu is very large with many options of just Chinese or just Japanese and then this wonderful section of create your own Bento Box with Chinese main dish options. Everything we ate was pipping hot and super crispy with great flavor. The fish was flaky and a nice crisp tasty batter. The chicken katsu was nice and juicy with an amazing crisp crust. The garlic chicken was good size pieces and good flavor as well. The tiger roll was not made tightly so the pieces fell apart easliy but did not take away from the flavor. Service was quick and we had plenty to take home. We will definitely return to explore more of the menu. read more

If I can give a zero I would. I'm so disappointed of the service I received tonight. I've been a customer for about 20 years since I live in the area. I moved and still drove here to get the food. Tonight I called in my order. The lady that answer took half of my order till I asked her about putting the vegetables on the side that we wouldn't mind paying extra, when she went to check another lady started taking my order. I asked her to repeat my order yet she still dint write down one plate. When I got there I told her to charge me the plate and the manager said that the kitchen closes at 8:30 that they couldn't do it. How are you going to have the restaurant open and the kitchen closed. My order was $100 dollars. I would take my whole family all the time and would spend a lot of my money here. The service has gone down. When the manager rather loose customers than to fix the problem that the restaurant is going to suffer. Even I walked out they were talking as if it was my error and not there's. When a restaurant doesn't take responsibility for their mistake is going to affect them in the long run. As a restaurant owner please train your manager better. Yesterday we went to eat and order a bento box. First the miso soup was very salty. Then I tried de beef teriyaki and it was hard to chew and tasted then my veggies tempura was not cooked all the way veggies were hard and outside soggy. Price is up and quality came down. read more

I think the 2/3 item bento items are a pretty good return on investment, given the quality and quantity of food you get for under $20. I ordered the 2 item bento with chicken teriyaki and cream cheese-crab roll. The bento also comes with salad, miso soup and California rolls, which is more than filling. I just had the worst orange chicken in my entire life. I'm not even sure if its made out of chicken. Texture felt mushy. Kinda like eating bread. Very processed. Chicken nuggets is better. Popular place on E H St near 805. Food tastest good, but beware anything sauteed, including any noodles not in a soup. Everything is heavy with oil which sticks to your palate. Cannot be healthy for anyone who is not starving. I tried to ask for less, but every single item in the Broccoli dish or Singapore noodles or Vegetable Delight was laden with greasy oil. I can assure everyone reading this review that I will never ever make another purchase at this establishment if they don't correct this cardinal mistake. Where was the rest of my crab? Who knows. There was a sliced carrot at the end where the tentacles are supposed to be. The rest was stuffed with imitation crab.
