Cute, clean, easy poke place! It was my first visit last night. Ordered the Truffle Yellowtail bowl (2 protein portion) and it was great. You can get white rice, brown rice, salad, or half and half of any of those as your base. I got half salad and half brown rice. The portion was plenty for dinner and the flavor on all the ingredients was fantastic. The fish was fresh and tasty. Lots of options for add ins. This place is such a gem. The poke is great and also the service! As for what my bowl contains, Base: matcha noodles Proteins: spicy salmon and spicy tuna Mix-ins: cucumber, edamame, mango, and mandarin slices Sauces: okii sauce and spicy mayo Toppings: furikake, seaweed salad, masago, and crab salad Crunch: toasted sesame seeds So how did this taste? Well, pretty good! The matcha noodles gave it a nice base for the sauces to mix together. Only thing I would say about the matcha noodles would be that you can't really taste the matcha part but it gave the meal a nice cold feeling when eating it. The sauces blended well with one another and gave it a nice savory taste and with the added natural sweetness from the fruits, gave an amazing flavor profile and lets you switch up what you're tasting. If you can't really handle spicy (like myself) I believe you should still be okay with the spicy proteins as I couldn't feel the burn more than likely due to the sauces which is fine! And all the add-ons gave the meal a nice texture to differinate everything when you're eating. Small and set in a strip mall, accessibility for wheelchairs is slightly problematic. Once inside, you can easily sit at one of the tables, but getting into the door is a little tight. I frequently send my son to pick up takeout from Okii Poke, and I'm never disappointed. They are patient with him even when he calls me on the phone to see if I want an ingredient they have that day or not. They are super friendly and a great family-run styled business. They sometimes have specials or cards for free poke, so look for those specials. They aren't super cheap but I find for Poke it's reasonably priced. They have a larger selection of fish from which to choose than many of the other poke restaurants in the area. They have a large variety of toppings too. The staff is friendly. The food is fresh and the business is clean. I recommend Okii Poke to anyone in the are who wants to try poke. and if raw fish isn't your liking, they have shrimp and other options for the less adventurous. We had one of their signature bowl the Okii Classic regular, I chose brown rice and my husband did matcha noodles which were very tasty. Hands down best poke in the area. This review is more of a comparison between this and Pokeworks since they're the two competing Poke places in this area. I was excited for Pokeworks when they first opened because we finally got Poke, then I had it and was unimpressed..then I tried it again and was still unimpressed..then I had it a third time and found it decent enough to have it a 4th time but reluctantly. The ingredients weren't as fresh or tasty as I've had elsewhere and it was a little difficult to pick the right sauce for the ingredients you had. Okii Poke on the other hand is consistently great, no matter what bowl I throw together the sauces and toppings always compliment each other. This was my wife and I's only second Poke place to try. (They are fairly new to the area, with the other type of restaurant over on Bay Area). So - much of this was comparing between the two and what we liked/disliked. What really stood out for me here was the quality of fish and number of choices. Although this place did not have chicken, it did have some pretty nice looking choices of tuna, salmon, and spicy options of both. (Btw - I got the tuna, salmon, and spicy salmon and was happy with my choices). I chose the 3 protein option which was $12.50 (vs $10.50 for the 2 protein). After you choose your base (I picked white rice) they add the chosen proteins, and you can add in various other mix-ins/veggies/fruits (including mango and oranges). Followed by that, you choose a sauce (7 sauces available) and then any additional toppings. (Here I really liked that they did not charge extra for the crab salad; which was pretty good). You can also add various crunches (garlic, won-tons, onions) and spices - really made a nice textural experience between the soft fish and crunch of the toppings. Bottom line - we both enjoyed it! The thing with the Poke is that you don't feel as bad eating a large bowl, as it has lots of fish and other mix-ins (cucumbers, etc). Certainly a lot better for you than a hamburger and French fries! The restaurant itself has such a unique feel. It seems perfect for a first date just as much as it does for a quick business lunch. The high ceilings and light colors create what feels to be a large open space, while the decorations and welcoming staff create a warm, homey environment. I had the large build your own bowl with sushi rice, tuna, salmon, and tofu. The selection is perfect! Giving you the right amount of options to switch things up whenever you go, but not too much to be overwhelming. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the sweet radish. They are the perfect added crunch to each bite. The truffle shoyu sauce and spicy mayo were extremely flavorful as well, and I can't wait to try the rest of the sauces. I managed to sneak a bite of the matcha noodles from my girlfriend's bowl and will definitely be adding that from time to time as well. For the togo bowl, they have one size and the price differs depending on how much protein you wanted. I went all out and got the spicy salmon and spicy tuna (the scoops were generous). For the sauce, I wasn't too sure that they had (despite having the menu in my hand lol) and she suggested a mixture based on what I had and asked if I liked spicy or not. They had a variety of toppings such as mango, masago, crab salad, edamame, and way more! So go crazy and make it your own^^ In the end, my bowl was definitely a hefty weight, especially for what I was paying for, so 10 points Gryffindor for pricing and portion.
