Rice dry. Rolls were not great. Had rainbow roll and didn't seem fresh. Had to keep asking for wasabi. Weird soy sauce. Wings ok but over fried. I'm from Phoenix and won't be returning. Needs to up their game. Service was good. read more

Not traditional sushi. If your looking for sushi this isn't the place to go. However the portions are huge and if you are looking for something non traditional and with cooked meat i.e. ground beef, bacon and/or chicken than it's not bad. Well I've been going to his sushi restaurant ever since it opened. I am local from Rio Rico and whenever I go, I never had a bad experience with the food. The food is great with the fusion of Hispanic cuisine and Japanese. Of course whenever I go there it's not busy, like 4 tables occupied. Although the servers are the type where they won't check up on you every minute so you will have to wave them down and they'll see what you need. The food tasted weird and the service sucks. Very disorganized and unprofessional. I ordered a Guamuchilito and the crab salad tasted like rubbing alcohol, the avocado was hard and was colder than what it should've been. It's a breaded roll and it was COLD! read more

Surprised how this place is still in business. The sushi is a joke and don't try to order salmon nigiri because the slice size almost resembles the smoked salmon packages you buy at Safeway. The food was like what you get when you tell somebody who is an expert at deep-frying chicken wings to become a sushi chef all of a sudden. This place is a bar and if you go here for the love of God get chicken wings and a beer. I am sure they do that just fine. I should note, we had no trouble with the service. But, as Sushi is their middle name... The sushi was dry and the fish was not cold and the rice was crumbly. On the way out we saw that they store their raw fish in an open compartment facing the kitchen where they are frying chicken wings, so the raw fish is not cold. Very disgusting and, I am sure, disease waiting to happen. I got a salad with a special name, which was something I could have made in two minutes - put a whole cucumber in a slicer (don't bother peeling it), put a whole carrot in a slicer, and dump a few slivers of fake crab meat over the top with some rice vinegar for good measure. I also got salmon skin roll, and there was no salmon skin, just some nubs of salmon like it was cat food or something, piled onto what appeared to be a California roll or who knows what was in there. Like, just piled on top. We asked, 'where is the salmon skin?' and they said, 'oh, that is just like salmon skin, it is salmon' The kids got nigiri and they said that it smelled weird and tasted bitter and would not eat them. So we bailed and went to Chipotle next-door for an upgrade on dinner. I think back to the 1980s, last time I had a restaurant experience this mindbendingly bad. read more

Horrible experience do not waste your time nor money. We saw the many negative reviews but thought we could give this place a try as there really are no other sushi places around. It is very dark and unwelcoming as soon as you walk in. Nobody greets you and you will awkwardly stand in the entrance waiting for some type of acknowledgment or service. The food was not great by any means. The sushi is mostly rice, many of the pieces had no filling inside and it was all very warm and not fresh looking, smelling, or tasting. We had to flag down any server around several times after waiting long periods of time to be attended too, for refills, for silverware and sauces. The servers did their best to act as though they can not see you. I really do not understand how this place is even open. 10/10 do not recommend!!!!!!! read more

I always get the volcán with the chile guerrito when I visit Nogales. I ended up discovering this roll because apparently it's a popular roll and I saw it being served to another customer it immediately made my mouth water. I ordered it and it was as good as it looked. The sushi was amazing and the owner is very nice. The only issue was our waitress. She was very rude and had a bad attitude. She barely took care of us. Usually don't run into any disappointments but yesterday, I ordered wings of 50 pcs for takeout yesterday and picked mild as my flavor. The first time I went, we dined in and It was good. The second and third I ordered to go, I was charged extra for to go orders and my portions were so small. $50 worth of sushi was so mediocre and petite we actually ate again after the sushi. I've seen complaints about the service at this restaurant, but those gripes are overstated. The waitress who served me was competent and polite, and that's all I really expected. The food on the other hand, well... that needed work. I actually enjoyed the Volcano Roll; tempura rolls stacked in a pyramid and topped with flaked crab drenched in a spicy sauce. However, the seaweed salad, as important a side dish in Japanese cuisine as french fries are to a hamburger, was a disaster. Tiny bits of sushi seaweed buried under an avalanche of cucumber is not proper wakame, and it certainly shouldn't cost seven dollars. If you're looking for Mexican-influenced fusion cuisine, Oki-Roki might do the trick, but if you're expecting your sushi strictly by the book, you'd better save your appetite for one of the more traditional restaurants in Sierra Vista or Tucson. read more

Just craving Sushi and found this place as we drove by. Great hole in the wall kinda place. Great energy, and good service. In fact, when we arrived there was no more indoor seating. It was kinda chilly ouside even though theres heaters but we didnt bring our jackets and didnt want to sit out there. Went there to have a couple of drinks with some friends ended up being carded 5 times for one beer, a little excessive especially when the manager walks up and asks for your ID and doesn't believe it's you especially when everyone was well over 21 in the group also the sushi isn't all that great they all taste the same, maybe they should look into changing the oil more often idk... on the plus side the live music was great!... kudos to the band but a thumbs down to the actual resturant itself... first and last time I'll ever go... honest opinion tho better off going to sushi shop or sushi house in Nogales Sonora. read more

I give them negative stars. I would give it to this place. The people that were there were already eating.The waitress seemed like she didn't want to be working. She took our order and took our drinks. After that, we waited 50 minutes for our food. During those 50 minutes the waitress never went back to see what we needed. But she did have time to stop and talk to friends I would say. When our food was taken to our table, the waitress just left. We had no forks, no napkins and didn't offer more drinks. The person that was with us asked another waitress for what we needed. She said to wait. She was just talking. I got up and asked her and she said she would take it, mumbled something and rolled her eyes at me. I stood there and said in a rude voice that she would take it. That's when I decided we don't have to put up with moody people especially today on Valentine's Day. The sushi presentation was worth 5 stars alone, but when you add in the flavor, you get an out of Nogales experience! Absolutely amazing for such a small town. Ambos Nogales, you have arrived! If your traveling through, you have to stop by. Our waitress (young with white/grey colored hair) did an awesome job. Prices were very reasonable for the size of the rolls. Was here awhile back and not so good. Really, nothing was good. The order was to go and took them nearly an hour (54 mins.) to prepare three rolls. It would have been nice for the girl to have mentioned that they were very busy (which was not apparent by the number of customers there) or even acknowledge that they took forever. I was told "just a few more minutes" on two occasions - after 30 mins. and again after 45 mins. Then she charged me what seemed to be a lot for an order that was incorrect. I say she charged "a lot" only because I didn't pay attention to the prices I only asked for what we wanted - it seemed expensive. When I got home and realized that the order was incorrect she said to bring it back and they'll correct it - but that it would take awhile because they had several orders in front of it. Unbelievable! She said that they would send a gift certificate from the restaurant to compensate for the error. That was in January. It's now September and still no gift certficate. By the way, the sushi they did sent was nothing special and even a little questionable. When y you couple the quality of the food with the generally unclean kitchen I will definitely not return.
