Went here for a mothers day brunch. The service was fantastic. We paired our meal with a walk to the falls church and the beautiful waterfalls. The restaurant ambiance was great with outdoor seating. I got the wagyu burger and the my wife got the salmon. Neither was "amazing". They were cooked fine, they just lacked a certain flavoring that makes a good burger or salmon fillet.

We came here after golf on Saturday for an early dinner. Weather was amazing so being able to sit outside by the fountain and tulips was lovely. Service was very attentive. Food was good as well just overall though the price was steep for what it was but have to think of it as also paying for the ambience.

Very fun date here! We've been meaning to visit for the longest time after passing it after all of our great falls hikes. they appear to have two totally different dining experiences: inside, a quaint upscale interior with full course menu. Outside - more of a divey beer garden feel with food truck style menu. Burgers, hot dogs, Bavarian pretzel and pizzas. Very tasty and perfect outdoor setting for our post hike journey. Service was great, very friendly and speedy.

The prices are very high but I really do love the charm and ambiance of this restaurant. It was perfectly decorated for the holidays. I enjoyed the salmon which was better when I added lemon to it. The cocktails were about $20 not sure why the prices were so high. Next time we will check out their beer garden. I really loved the wood burning fire outside it was super cozy.

I just took my Mom out for the most AMAZING lunch here today. PK (hostess) was super sweet and welcoming and we had a resy for their front patio. It's gorgeous and huge with large umbrellas at each table to keep out the direct sun. Hasina (manager) actually waited on us and she was wonderful as well. I got the Lobster Salad with the citrus vinaigrette dressing - it was the best lobster salad. My Mom had the Lobster Roll that came with house made potato chips and I tasted both and they were both wonderful. For dessert we split the chocolate mousse cake and it was the best we have ever had and came with a toffee crunch crust on one side. The ambiance was perfect, all the waitstaff (and there are plenty) were super attentive and so pleasant. The food was spectacular. We will be back in the fall when they change to their fall/winter menu and decorate the patio with pumpkins and turn the water fountain into a fire pit!

    The fountain is amazing.

Such a beautiful patio! We enjoyed the ambiance, food and flowers. Great service. The prices are on the higher end of the spectrum for this type of dinning. Recommend going for any special occasion.

My partner had bought 4 gift cards winter of 2023, spend $50, get $100 gc. We have managed to force our way through 3 visits which, besides the charming patio, were terrible. The prices are ridiculous, not in a I'm-Not-From-Around-Here way, but like Why-Am-I-Not-At-Cafe-Milano way. The food is nothing short of bad. If it is not inedible I consider it a win for this place. The drinks are hit or miss. The service, wow. On my 3rd visit I was so disappointed with the service (taking forever for water, orders, touchbacks, clearing, and just a rude air about him, that I decided to break my rule of no less than 20% for terrible service and left 15% - the server came back to my table to tell me I under-tipped him!? Does management know of this behavior?? Anyway, I have had the 4th gc in my car for over a year now, it is expired but still worth the price paid for it so it's just been hanging over my head. We finally went today to enjoy the lovely weather on the front patio (it really is such a nice atmosphere out there). The whole reason I'm writing this review is because of Greg, our wonderful saving grace server, Greg. He is attentive, polite, and very personable. He made my visit so enjoyable! My mule was watered down, my food was subpar at best, but Greg and the lovely garden atmosphere kept my spirits high the entire visit - those two points are worth 5 stars, but there is no way I could, in good conscience, ever leave this place 5 stars. Hopefully management recognizes the gem that is Greg and never let's him go (but based on everything else I've seen about this please, I don't think they don't care). I'm so very happy to be finished with my commitment to OAI, and Greg is the icing on that (grossly overpriced) cake!

Business in the front, party in the back. My son and I stopped in after hiking and found a casual spot in the back of this adorable inn. Think: live music, Adirondack chairs, tv's, small fire places, order at the bar. Vibes were vibing. The front of the place was charming and had lots of people dressed up for lunch with a giant fire place in the center. When I say giant, I mean gargantuas. Food was steep and not worth the price tag but after a hike it was the closest and kid friendly place around. The chili was delicious. The wagu hotdog was disgusting. Food was prepared quickly and in the back area you serve & bus yourself.

First time there and the experience was nothing short of magical. It was a perfect night to sit outside by the bonfire and the cocktails and food were both incredible. I had the side car and couldn't recommend it more - perfect fall drink, especially to sip by that gorgeous fire pit. The salmon was cooked perfectly as well and the carrots on the side were the best I've ever had. The entire venue is breathtakingly beautiful with all the lights. We also ran into the owner Mark while there, and he was so warm and invited us to tour the entire space. There's a cutest little staircase inside that you can take to an upstairs dining hall, and they opened up a beer garden in the back. Lovely experience all around. 10/10.

Irish coffee, cosmopolitan and a lovely beer.

Beautiful spot. Nice staff. The food is awful. Grab a drink and something very simple like a salad and fries and you'll be fine.

Ask the Community - Old Anglers Inn

    Is there on site Parking?

Hi Ron Sorry for the delay in response to your question. Yes, we do have ample on site parking and there is public park parking right across the street on the C&O Canal.…

What's the dress code? Is the patio casual?

People are dressed nicely. But you see people coming in from hiking. So I think anything is fine. I wouldn't wear jeans but you could.

Do they allow dogs on the patio?

According to www.bringfido.com, Old Angler Inn is dog friendly. Here is the number to OAI to ask and make sure about the patio. 301-299-9097

However, the proper burger with a runny egg and bacon was a top 3 DMV burger. The ribs hit the spot and the sauce is a nice all around sweet bbq sauce. The honey Sriracha wings were also great. More honey and less heat from the Sriracha than I was expecting. The truffle Mac was very good. I see why it's priced at 14$. At first I was like that's craziness but after having it. It's worth the price. Very good meal for the family for around $120.

Which is a shame because I really wanted to LOVE it, especially given the location. A three star rating isn't bad, it's average, and that's what I thought of this place. French onion soup had potential, the cheesy toast with it was good, but then the cheese in the soup was melted to the bottom of the toast & not broiled like you'd expect. The truffle Mac & cheese was great! My burger also had potential, but was slightly undercooked for my taste. Taken with liberty was ok, but was just missing something, maybe a side of au jus or crisp lettuce instead of arugula. Fries were hot & fresh, nice and crispy. Also got a CUBANO "TORTA" MILANES to-go because they were out of brisket, but that was just eh.

Glenwood delivered that excellent dinner this week and it deserves all the stars I can muster up. I had the Ahi Tuna Salad. Delicious, fresh, crispy, and with some of the best sushi-grade tuna I have ever put in my mouth. It was a great entree salad and this is the 2nd time I have had it. You know what, there will definitely be a 3rd time too. But, the diva of this meal was definitely what my spouse got. The incredible, edible rotisserie chicken pot pie!!! OMG this dish was crazy good, so good that I wish I had made it. The crust was the best crust I have ever had in my entire life bar none. It was crisp, flavorful and a little bit doughy. Its taste was great all by itself. But let there be no doubt - the filling was top notch too. Creamy, luxurious with crisp, fresh vegetables and big hunks of rotisserie chicken. It was the BEST! Thank God my spouse shared some with me because it was life changing (ok maybe that's a bit dramatic but you get my drift). The service matched the food. Erika was our server. She was so bubbly, friendly, helpful, smart and hard working. Glenwood is not a haute cuisine restaurant but the service we got from Erika matched the best restaurant service anywhere. That woman can do anything anywhere. I would hire her in a minute. Glenwood is one of those places that has hit its stride and I'm damn glad that I stumbled upon it. Service got off to a slow start this time. It took long enough that my daughter eventually got up to find our server so we could get water. There was also some initial confusion about how we wanted the check split, but once that was sorted out, our server was attentive, friendly, and did an excellent job. We have no complaints about the service after that point. We ordered several of the same appetizers as our previous visit: the Artichoke & Spinach Dip and the Crispy Thai Brussels. We also tried the Crabby Fries, which weren't on the menu during our last visit. All three appetizers were fantastic and just as memorable as before. Three of us ordered drinks. I had a Bloody Mary, and while it wasn't quite as impressive as the one I had during my previous visit, it was still enjoyable. As for the food, I'll start with the few disappointments. My wife ordered a fish dish and upgraded to the crispy potatoes, which are excellent when prepared properly. Unfortunately, the fish was placed directly on top of the potatoes, leaving them soggy rather than crispy by the time the dish reached the table. That was especially disappointing considering the additional charge for the upgrade. On our last visit, two Steak Frites orders were overcooked. This time, my daughter ordered the same dish and requested medium-rare, assuming it might come out a little over. Instead, it arrived rare. Fortunately, she was fine with it. My parents both ordered the Black & Bleu Penne, and while the filet tips in both dishes were overcooked, they remained surprisingly juicy. Another member of our party ordered the Chicken Pesto Sandwich and was disappointed by the soggy bread and somewhat lackluster flavor. I ordered the Chicken Marsala, and it was very good. It wasn't a traditional Chicken Marsala as I'm accustomed to, but it was flavorful, unique, and ultimately satisfying. After two visits, here's my overall impression: the service has been consistently good, though not exceptional. The flavors, however, have been outstanding every time. The kitchen clearly knows how to develop great flavors, and that consistency keeps us coming back. If you're ordering a steak dish, just be aware that the final temperature may not always be exactly as requested. That said, we've visited with large groups both times--eight people on our first visit and seven on our second--so it's possible some dishes spend extra time waiting in the window while the rest of the order is completed. Overall, this is a solid 4.5-star restaurant in our opinion. Unfortunately, Yelp doesn't allow half-star ratings, so I'm giving it 4 stars. Despite a few execution issues, the food quality and flavor are strong enough that we'd gladly return again.
