Absolute gem of a find in Manvel! Went on a newly opened Sunday to find helpful staff, great tasting bbq, and a new spot to take the family. Brisket - fork tender, great smoke flavor, slightly sweet finish. Pork Ribs - fall of the bone tender and definitely my favorite. Burnt Ends - a must, flavor was exploding off the bark. Also the homemade pickles were outstanding and the banana pudding was great. Overall just a great experience. read more

We actually just stumbled upon this place on the way to Galveston. It was drive through only with extremely friendly service. They offered tastings before purchase and chatted about the menu and their history. AND...oh, my. This brisket is soooooo good. Almost literally melts in your mouth. This is absolutely my favorite BBQ place. They are only open on the weekends until they sell out. The owner is friendly and loves what he does. I have not been disappointed with my purchases. Had always heard about this place and I love BBQ and try a ton of places throughout the year, finally decided to give this a try on my way through. Had brisket which was moist and had great smoke and flavor. Also had the burnt ends that were one of my favorite I have had to this day and we then added some mac n cheese for us and the kids and it was a good side to the meal. Brisket was moist and delicious and sausage had nice flavor. Pickles are to die for! Potato salad was delicious. Barbecue sauce was a bit too vinegary for me, but the meat doesn't need it. This place was mediocre. I have had better, but I've also had worse. The brisket and sausage were decent. I was disappointed that there were only three sides to choose from: beans, potato salad and Mac & cheese. The sides were probably my favorite part of the meal. It was also disappointing that they had no tea or fountain drinks. They had bottled water and a few different bottles sodas to choose from. I've been wanting to try Old Bucs for a while. I finally went today and it was AMAZING! I got brisket, potato salad, banana pudding. I love banana pudding in general and I LOVED this banana pudding. The brisket is some of the best I've had- ever; definitely the best in the Pearland area hands down. The homemade pickles are great too. The staff and owner are super friendly and welcoming. 2nd visit to this local BBQ place open on Saturdays only (10:30 until the run out). Showed up at 11:00am and it was surprisingly empty! Just 3 customers in front of me, and 1 couple dining in. Just got 1/2 of moist brisket to dine in. Best BBQ in the area. Moist, juicy, flavorful, great bark! The bbq sauce isn't needed. I'm not a big pickle fan, so didn't eat those. The cheese and crackers were a nice touch! They offer free shiner beer for dine in customers! Will be back! read more

After living less that a mile away since 2018 I finally got around to trying Old Bucs and let me tell you I didn't know what I was missing! I went through the drive thru lane and told them it was my first time here. The gentleman cutting meat came to the window with a sample of brisket and smoked turkey. Upon tasting I decided to order 1/2 pound of brisket, burnt ends, turkey and ribs. In addition I ordered a family size pinto beans and potato salad. The brisket burnt ends were savory morsels that simply melted in my mouth! I knew the sliced brisket would be equally delicious. The smoked turkey and pork ribs were cooked to perfection and the ribs pulled right off the bone. My goodness the pinto beans were amazing as well! If I had to make one gripe it would be the potato salad. Just my opinion, but the potato salad was a little heavy on the green onion. Do yourself a favor and try Old Bucs BBQ next time you're in Manvel, TX! read more

What can I even say that hasn't been said on other reviews? This place is amazing. It's a cozy, family-owned establishment where you are greeted by the friendly owners and staff like you're family. And the food.... Oh the food. I lived in Houston for 24 years and I am yet to find a place anywhere near as good as this one. The brisket had so much flavor and the ribs were delicious and soft off the bone. The sauce was definitely among the best I've had. I would recommend this place over anything I've tried and you likely won't have to wait all day for it. Great outdoor seating is also available. All in all a must. read more

Old Bucs team is efficient and friendly. The owner is onsite. The brisket is excellent. I prefer to mix fatty and lean. The potato salad is my favorite in Brazoria County. (I am not a fan of heavy mustard in potato salad.) Beer is free. Sausage is okay. Hubs likes the ribs. We love their home made pickles. We purchase a jar when we visit. We live in Sugar Land and lucked upon this place on a Sunday drive. The moist brisket was amazing and the sausage and ribs were tasty. The potato salad, beans and Mac and cheese were very good too. The verdict is still out on the spicy bread and butter pickles, but they are not needed because the meat and sides are what it's about. Fast, friendly service and well packaged food. If you are looking for a place to picnic with your bbq bounty, the Manvel Police Park has nice tables under some big old live oaks! Highly recommend giving Old Bucs a try! We are going to try half lean/half moist brisket on our next trip and hope we get there early enough to score a banana pudding. Thanks BJ! Enjoyed the grub. read more

Tried Old Bucs for the first time today after reading how great it was on a Facebook page. Great local place for BBQ! Owner and staff were very friendly and nice.
