Let's be honest, grocery store food courts don't exactly scream "culinary masterpiece." But hold your horses, BBQ lovers, because this little BBQ spot attached to HEB was pretty yummy. It's a tasty spot to grab a quick take-out meal. You order from the kiosk on the side or from their app on your phone and they'll text you when your order is ready. I opted for the burnt ends and brisket combo, and I can tell you, it was a pleasant surprise. The burnt ends were the winners on the plate. Each morsel was nicely caramelized on the outside. The smoke flavor was well balanced by a touch of sweetness that wasn't overpowering. And the brisket? Tender, juicy, and packed with that rich, slow-cooked flavor that BBQ lovers crave. The sauce was tangy, sweet, and with a hint of spice that enhanced the meats without overpowering the natural smokiness. The sides were fresh and tasty; I really enjoyed the beans with bits of brisket. My only complaint was that the portions of meat and sides were small and I didn't feel like I got enough bang for my bucks. Hence the reason for 3 stars instead of 4.

I was in need of a quick BBQ fix. I looked on Yelp and came across True Texas BBQ. I did not realize that they are affiliated with H-E-B. The website boasts that they were recognized as Texas Monthly's Best BBQ Chain. I was a little skeptical so I did some research. While it is true that they received this title in 2019, the author of the article (Daniel Vaughn) changed his opinion in 2023 stating that they have "recently yielded some disappointing results as locations expand." This was my first visit so I can't compare the quality of the BBQ from a few years ago. Compared to other fast casual BBQ restaurants, I would agree that they are not the best chain in Texas. When I arrived, there was a line. My first impression was that this place must be good if there's a line. Then I realized that there was only one ordering kiosk (out of three) that was working. You can order at the kiosk, or order through the app. I didn't want to download the app, but I'm glad I did because it saved a lot of time. I downloaded the app and ordered while in line. The people in front of me waited for the kiosk. By the time they placed their order at the kiosk, I was leaving with my food. If you have an account with H-E-B, you can use that same info to log in. If you order online and select "asap," it takes about 10 minutes. You are able to place an order up to a day in advance. I ordered the one meat plate consisting of turkey, collard greens, and potato salad. The turkey wasn't bad. It was flavorful, but the skin was spicy. The collard greens were seasoned, but it had too much vinegar. The potato salad was a little bland. They gave two tiny slices of pickles and onions as a garnish. If you like pickles and onions, be sure to request extra. I requested BBQ sauce in the order, but realized that all of the condiments are located in the seating area. They have two types: spicy and sweet. I opted for sweet, but I found that it still had a slight kick to it. The seating area has quite a few tables and most of the tables are covered. There were maybe 3 tables that were not covered. The seating area was clean. In addition to BBQ plates, you can order meat by the pound. The menu also offers items like sandwiches, baked potatoes, brisket nachos, and loaded mac and cheese. The set up is similar to Rudy's except it takes longer to order food and it's not as good.

Located next to HEB. Very convenient. Burnt end is awesome, juicy tender meat. Ribs are a bit hard and stick to the bone, not my favorite. Overall it's good and no wait.

One has to order through kiosk and use a credit card, no cash. You place your order, pay for it and then get notified by text or their calling your name at pickup window that your order is ready. There is a seating area that is covered, and the kiosk ordering area is also covered. I got 2 meat plate with 2 sides-sausage and lean brisket. The brisket was a little salty and the sausage really had no flavor I would almost say it was boiled, it was so flavorless. The potato salad also had no flavor and the brisket beans were only so so. At least the food was hot. They forgot my sauce as well. I was left with the distinct impression that I could have done a better job on my own which is not what you want when you go out to buy barbecue.

I've visited this place a few times, and each time I've been disappointed with their food. Today, I ordered a two-meat plate with lean brisket, sausage, mac & cheese, and collard greens. However, I was disappointed again. They only gave me one strip of brisket, which was dry and flavorless. The sausage was served as a whole uncut link, and the skin was tough and hard. The mac & cheese was thick and mushy with no flavor, and the collard greens tasted like they came from a can.

Food was pretty good. I feel that it's definitely Texas BBQ. Satisfied my craving. Sides were pretty decent as well. Greens are very vinegary.

The ribs were cooked perfectly and the burnt ends were amazing! Definitely try the mac and cheese.

They forgot to pack my banana pudding and barbecue sauce. Spent $41 on two plates, I would have liked to have receive my full order.

My 15 year old son…read moreis definitely a carnivore, and his favorite thing to order is the pound of brisket as his meal. He is completely in love with it! He also has Type 1 Diabetes, so having the option to order just meat is actually a huge plus for us. He doesn't always love having to dose insulin for every meal, so being able to get something like a pound of brisket with little to no carbs gives him an option where he can just enjoy his food without having to think as much about his insulin. It may seem like a small thing, but having those choices makes a big difference. My girls usually get the chicken tender meals, and even the kids portions are huge. There is almost always enough left over to take home, which is always a bonus. My husband and I usually share the three meat meal. The turkey is honestly the highlight for both of us. It is really good and probably our favorite meat they offer. We usually get the ribs and brisket with it as well, and everything is pretty solid. I wouldn't say it's competition style BBQ, but for a local restaurant, it's definitely good BBQ and a place we enjoy coming back to. The portions are generous, the food is consistent, and it's a restaurant that works well for our whole family. The sides are also really good and there are plenty of options to choose from. The desserts are probably the one area that didn't stand out as much for me. I tried the bread pudding, and it was just not my favorite. The flavor and texture were a little different than what I expected. That being said, the BBQ itself is what keeps us coming back. Overall, Big Horn BBQ is a great spot with good food, big portions, and options that make it easy for everyone in our family to find something they enjoy. The service is fast and it feels like a cowboys restaurant with all the animals on the walls!

The peach cobbler was NOT thoroughly cooked. When I moved a peach, underneath it the crust was runny and white. I called to tell them about the undercooked food and got this response from the employee, "...well we ain't got no more peach cobbler so you can't exchange it." Not, "...we apologize that this dessert did not meet quality expectations, but we would be happy to refund you your money, or allow you to choose another dessert." This shows a common practice of poor quality or service and horrible customer service skills.

I apreciated Honore's having a few games for the kids to keep them busy while the adults eat and chat. Maybe a little corner of the patio should be dedicated for them so theyre not in the middle of other patrons. Just a thought. Come early and order. Happy Hour before it ended literally had the line to order out to patio! There is a drive up pick up location on the east side of the building but how you order ahead? Didn't see anything on the website... I ordered the poboy with catfish and fries. When I picked up the to go plate, I just knew somebody's order had been combined with mine because the bag was heavy! Turns out they give Humongous portions at Honore's. Only thing: Although, I didnt ask for tartar sauce, no ketchup or cocktail sauce with my to go order. Still the poboy wad fresh and filled from end to end with catfish. Fries were hot and fresh in the take out box and not too salty, so I had to enjoy a few before leaving. Most definetly you have to order the coveted boudin balls. I got a small pack of both the original and pepper jack since they were on sale for Happy Hour. They didn't disapppoint. They were slightly bigger than a golf ball and the gooey pepper jack cheese was a great compliment to the crunchy exterior. Topped with Remoulade or Ranch and I got pretty full just off Boudin balls. The miss for me is the frozen drinks- especially the frozen Hurricane slushy. Tasted like medicine, but about an hour later I did feel a little kick from the drink. My friend agreed but tried the blue flavor and stated it was better than the hurricane. We enjoyed our little meet up at Honore's so much, we lost track of time. Four hours of girl chat and good food happens that way. Thanks Honore's for making our evening!
