We have come here a few times and the quality of food is in an abysmal freefall. The fried chicken sandwich. It was 85% batter no chicken ALL LIES! Extreme disappointment. Loved the black bean veggie burger! It comes fully loaded with lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles. Even the wheat bun was tasty! PRO TIP - Check in on the Yelp app and save 10%. Last night I had the jalapeño burger. The meat was obviously precooked and warmed up. It only had half a slice of tomato and the fries were old as well. I'm also very tired being guilted in leaving a tip when you order. I feel like since I didn't leave more than the minimum tip (15%) I got less for my money. At least it seems that way. Burger Barn Very Texan burger place with a twist of vegetarian food availability. The girl taking the order also was very Texan in behavior- totally laid back with a very prominent 'whatever' attitude.... We got the veg burger that came with bean patty, along with onion rings and fried beans. I liked the burger but both the fried items tasted of reused barbecued oil. They have some interesting other fried items like the fried mushrooms or fried jalapeños too. The interiors are interesting. You can turn your head in any direction- right, left, up on the sealing, on the table, wherever, there is plenty to see. They have those little game machines as u enter. The food quality needs improvement. I would detail this out but everything I ordered was not so good. Fish sandwich, A1 burger, BLT sandwich. Fries and onion rings. All of the above were just not good. I think there needs to be a bit more care in delivery. No napkins or tartar sauce for the sandwich. No ketchup for fries . Just a tad bit south of Pearland is the Burger Barn. It's been around for awhile, before the small town of Manvel started to grow. I am always on the hunt for a good burger, so my son and I came to check it out. The name is fitting because it really does look like a big red barn. The day we came, I think they had some plumbing issues so it almost smelled like a barn too! I won't hold it against them because s@#! happens. The staff was oh so friendly and hospitable and had plenty of great recommendations. Food wise, this place has a little bit of everything. They got appetizers, burgers, wings, Mexican and American plates, hot dogs, and baked potatoes. Unless you are extremely picky, you should be able to find something you like here. We started off with an order of Fried Pickles to start. I am not a huge pickle guy in general, but here they tasted pretty good. Per usual, I went with something basic since it was my first time here and I really wanted to see what one of their regular cheeseburgers tasted like. They do offer a nice variety of burgers though. The burger was a half pound and freshly ground. You can always tell when a burger patty was frozen, but this was not that. They seasoned it well and it held up nicely with the soft bun. The toppings of lettuce, tomato and onions were fresh and crisp as well. They got choices as far as sides go, but I went with regular fries. I couldn't tell you if they were hand cut or frozen, but they were good. Pearland has some pretty good burger spots and I would put this spot on that list as well. I've been coming to Burger bar since they've been open. I've enjoyed my lettuce wraps hamburgers their prom. They're clean. The atmosphere is great. I take my great grandson in there. We moved to the Manvel area last November and since then I have been eyeing the Burger Barn on Yelp anytime we look for food nearby. Typically unless a place has four or more stars I won't try it without a recommendation from someone who I know has good taste, but I looked at the BB page again today and saw the black bean burger and decided to give it a go! If I were rating the burger alone, it would be a four star review because it was genuinely yummy. The bun was slightly sweet and very soft and the patty itself was very well done - not dry like some veggie patties can be. I was able to finish the burger, but was definitely full. The sweet potato fries were a different subject - the first thing I noticed was than a single order was $5. I thought surely this would be a shareable size, but nope just a single portion. Based upon the amount of fries (see picture), I don't see why the price should be any more than a couple of dollars. Don't get me wrong - if the fries had been killer I might not have been bothered by the price, but the fries were pretty underwhelming. They tasted alright, but were on the soggy side. Been over 11 years since we have ordered from here. Ordered online - easy process. Lots of good but some areas to communication/clarity needed. We ordered: The "Oh Spicy" Barn Burger (4 stars) - loved it. Added grilled mushrooms and onions. Should of asked for extra green sauce - it was pretty darn good. Jr burger (2.5 stars) - a bit dry but that might have been due to it being requested to be cooked well done. Chalupa (3.5 stars) - it was a bit soggy, maybe because of lettuce or tomatoes? Order it vs sweet potato fry's, it's more filling. We ordered a side of sweet potato fries (2 stars) - need to include in your menu the ounces per order for your fry's. We ordered the $4.99 size and it was super small - the amount you would get with a typical small McDonalds order of fries. Five Guys has a small fry order that dwarfs this size. Passing through Manvel today and spotted this place, decided to stop in for lunch. Very clean, nicely decorated. Ordering was quick and easy and the staff very friendly. We both got The Bacon Cheddar Barn Burger, wife got fries and I got onion rings. Food was brought to our table in a reasonable amount of time, everything nice and freshly cooked. The onion rings, from what I could tell, were made in house and the fries seemed to be hand cut. Burgers were cooked to perfection and very tasty. The only tiny thing I would change is the bacon was just a bit under-cooked. Now, I love my bacon softer when eating on its own but in a burger it needs to be a bit more crisp. This burger place has lots of places to sit, arcade games for kids , beer and wine. The menu is a large one for a whole bunch of different styles of burgers. There baked potatoes are GIANT and delicious. The burgers are nice but nothing to write " home about". They have lots of different sides to offer and I think going there for lunch with the guys is a good idea. Girls, not super clean and the restrooms need some "work". Also be aware that if you are getting Drive- thru or food TO GO please double check your order carefully or you may get home and realize things were forgotten and or your burger will not be exactly what you ordered. Food was very good and not greasy. I traveled 17 miles home with burgers, fries , and onion rings, warmed up in the microwave a little and all tasted great. Workers were nice. I did have to wait 20-25 minutes for a specialty burger called a LUCY, but overall had a great experience. All the food was about $31 fed three Seniors, two women and one man. I ordered no drinks.
