I went in to FedEx overnight a 3.6 lb box. It's the same size I've been sending at other locations…read moremultiple times this year. The most I've ever paid was $210 for Saturday delivery. Upscale mail quoted me $340 to arrive by 4:30, $360 to arrive by noon. I was shocked and questioned it, but was told all costs everywhere had gone up. There also isn't a way to put in my FedEx account number anymore, it's all under their own. I paid the ungodly amount and later looked up the cost on the FedEx site using the same info from my receipt and the cost was $206 to arrive by 8 am, $155 to arrive later. I called back to ask them to double check the rate and was told it was correct. I asked why in the world the markup was double and was told that only the owner has access to what the rates are so he couldn't answer. He was not rude in any way, so I do not fault the employee, but the store itself is an absolute rip off. I send these packages multiple times each year and usually drive to the valley. I decided to drive to this place which was slightly closer and it's a small business, so thought I'd support them. I'm fine with a markup and making a profit but this was an absolute rip off and I told them I'd never come back. If you don't mind shelling out a ridiculous amount of money for something you can go elsewhere for less, cool. This is your place. However I will never set foot in there again.

I was expecting that stuff might get broken, but I wasn't expecting that two large items would simply go missing. The response I got from Bekins was, "Oh well, sometimes that happens." Other than Bekins losing stuff, everything else about the move was just fine. Kent, the estimator, was nice and helpful as can be, and the packers were very professional. Nothing was broken! The truck driver was great about communicating when he expected to arrive and his helpers were efficient. Maybe the helpers were too efficient, as I almost took delivery of someone else's box of Hannukah stuff. I was the truck driver's last stop, so everything left on the truck was supposed to be mine. Uh oh. Is someone missing their Hannukah stuff, but perhaps enjoying my rugs? I can only hope. When I pointed out the missing rugs, the driver seemed baffled and said he didn't remember seeing them, but thought it possible they were left in the warehouse. Argh. No help from Spokane. They said the rugs were on the truck. Next time I have stuff moved, I'll use a service that puts all my stuff in one crate, so it doesn't get mixed up with anyone else's.

We used a Upack trailer to move our two bedroom household from Eastern Washington State to…read moreMaryland. The price was far cheaper than the other options we found. It took us several days to finish packing our home and initially we were a bit intimidated by the size of the trailer and scale of the move. But we packed carefully, used all the space floor to ceiling (12 ft of trailer length), and used a lot of straps and bungies to secure the load. To our delight, all our possessions survived the more than 2,500 mile trip. The Upack staff on both ends of the trip were helpful and accommodating. Overall, communication was reasonable. The staff was a bit easier to work with in-person rather than over the phone. Our snag was that we "blind" moved into a new home and found there was no place to have the Upack trailer delivered (driveway was too small, no road parking nearby). We ultimately rented a Uhaul truck for a day to transfer our possessions from the Upack trailer at the freight facility. This added about $100 to our total, but overall this move was very affordable.
