The bottom shelf had a messy pile of a mixture of the two when I arrived (this cart was not labeled at all except the price saying each card was 3 dollars). The top shelf, I later found out, was a very messy loose pile of postcards and photos with one side having a semblance of rows. After looking through the bottom of the cart for about ten minutes, the old owner came out and told me I was not putting things back in the right place (again, not labeled or put in boxes or dividers or anything) and to never return to the store. I was so confused at the aggressive interaction and blame for a mess I did not know to avoid and did not cause. At least not on my own. I even put back cards I didn't touch after he yelled at me just to leave it a little better than I found it. It was such an odd, bizarre interaction and I'm okay never returning after that. You should check out all the one star reviews on Yelp and Google about this sad, immature man and how his responses are essentially "nuh uh!" I have no problem with the cashier who was very nice and I would be more than happy to keep a retail space as-is and not be causing extra trouble, but there was no organization to be had to start with. We got there maybe 20 minutes before closing so I didn't get to explore the way I would like, but I really dug the book section. Hard covers are two dollars and soft covers are one dollar. They're arranged by color which I thought was very visually appealing. It was easier to look through the titles that way. I'll be going back soon to check out the store a bit more and I'll update my review accordingly. I'm totally happy with my book purchases.

This College Ave location is the everyday stop when you need to grab anything from vintage starter jackets, I've gotten retro J.Crew pieces here in additions to Y2K Nike pieces. Second, definitely negotiate. Lastly, if you like picking for stuff, you can find something. It's a lot of junk, but treasure is in the eye of the beholder, especially if you like tsotchkes. I ended up with a hand painted wooden duck decoy from 1981. It's def someone who randomly painted one, and not a priceless artifact, but I'm ok with that. I also ended up getting an old framed small print of a poem, and a vintage Thomas Stanley travel alarm clock that's currently not working, hopefully due to an old battery, but if it's up and running, I saw them on Etsy for $50. All three treasures for the price of $15! Overall, a gem of a store if you are nearby and have a few minutes to explore.

I discovered this thrift shop by accident when I found a Kate Spade mini tote bag from their shop…read moreon Etsy. I haven't been to the physical location in Oakland but would like to one day. They did a great job packing and quickly shipping the tote bag. The purchase was kind of funny for a couple reasons. One, I thought it was a vintage bag because I didn't know you could resell newer items on Etsy that are not handmade. It looked vintage to me, so I didn't question it, but it turned out the bag is from a few years ago. No big deal. Second, I didn't pay attention to the bag's measurements or the word "mini" in the title. I had to laugh when I took it out of the box. It's so tiny. It looks like it will maybe fit my phone, wallet, keys, and that's about it. I was expecting it to be much bigger, but that's totally my fault for not paying attention. The tote bag is in excellent new condition with the tag still attached. It also came with a detachable long strap. I'm not sure what I will do with it because its teeny size feels too small for me, but it's an awfully cute bag.
