Visited Paisley Vintage for two reasons - 1) because I've been in need of a good thrift and 2) to find a dope Coachella fit. What really sets Paisley apart as a thrift / vintage store is both the quality of their store and their selection of apparel. I feel like thrift and vintage stores can come off as dirty but Paisley is very well lit, incredibly clean, and neatly organized. Clothing and accessories are separated both by gender and by type of clothing. The selection is always changing too. We had a chance to briefly talk with one of the owners, and he told us that if you keep up with their Instagram, they're always restocking new items and showcasing it. For my Coachella fit, I ended up getting this really nice pair of North Face snow suspenders but there was also a pair of cargo pants that really caught my eye that I got as well. This shop just a stone's throw from the University and downtown Berkeley is an absolute gem of a find. Be forewarned however, blink and you'll miss it! The warm and modern decor is welcoming and a nice change from the vintage thrift store vibe. One side is men's and the other side is women's with racks of t-shirts and good quality sweatshirts blending in between. Lots of cool and quirky baseball caps line the top shelves with some vintage comic books and other vintage paraphanelia welcoming a good browse. Very nicely and carefully curated good quality pieces. I'll be honest: I've been gatekeeping this place from my Berkeley friends for the past year. The store just opened up in 2021, and it's only gotten better with time. Paisley's collection is incredibly curated with a focus on 90s and Y2K styles, though there's still enough of a variety even if those aren't your favorite fashion eras. They also restock items every single day, which is very refreshing. The best part about Paisley Vintage is definitely the prices. I've been thrifting in the Berkeley area for a while now, and while other stores' collections are great, they're usually overpriced. Paisley's prices are great for the quality of the items; most of the items have gotten here have been under $25. The most expensive piece I've ever gotten from here was an amazing pair of Columbia ski pants--perfect fit, perfect condition for just $40-- that would've easily gone for over $100 at any other vintage store in the area. Aside from the prices, what keeps me coming back is how cute the store is and how friendly the staff are. It's a family-run small business, and they sell handmade plushies crocheted by the owners' sister. You can always expect a friendly conversation with whoever's at the counter when you walk in! If you're like me and love vintage clothing, but hate how taxed they can get -- look no further because y'all... This place is for the people fr! The prices are incredibly affordable compared to most of the other shops in Berkeley. I've also talked to the owners Michael and Kevin often because they're so friendly and transparent about their process. They wash everything before putting it out and make sure it's in good condition. Half of my closet is from Paisley at this point. Ever since I stumbled upon their grand opening in August 2021, I end up grabbing something cute every time I leave. Their curation is impeccable. There is definitely something for everyone -- work jackets, chore coats, hoodies, nature tees, car tees, y2k baby tees, floral midi skirts, leather jackets, patterned fleeces, knit vests, utility pants. Guys I am telling you, this is the hidden gem!! Also, if you want to see what they're putting out for the day, they unfailingly post their daily restocks on their Instagram @paisleyvtg . Plus they do one day holds or venmo purchases if you dm them so it's really convenient. Definitely check them out if you're a vintage lover in the area, or just need a new fit in general. It's like opening a Pandora's Box of 90's and Y2K. I am turning 30 in March so to go with my party theme of "90s and Hyphy" we went on a walking tour of the thrift stores of Berkeley. I am upset this was our last stop as I wouldn't have bought anything at the prior stores, so by the time we got here my wallet had been exhausted! Clean, boutiquey vibe on the inside. Music was poppin. Racks of tees, organized by color, vintage on vintage. Saw some vintage SJ Sharks-wear, and sweaters and lined "shackets" at the front... Other leather goods, and the nostalgia almost knocked me out. I had to fight so hard not to buy one as I've been SEARCHING for a 90s-style plaid, lined, flannel jacket. OG Pokemon stickers and other 90s paraphernalia were on the shelves above the clothing racks. At the front it looks like they're selling some knit characters.. the ones of interest to me were the Snorlax and my memory is failing me but I think it was a Keropi. I need to be back. I would highly recommend coming here! The owner Michael is nice and the store is really clean. All of the clothing was sorted by color and it was very well organized. We liked looking through all the racks, all of the clothes were great quality and there was something there for everyone. The prices were also extremely fair. I am a huge fan of vintage clothing and antiques shopping, and I am always on the lookout for new spots around the Bay. I absolutely love Paisley Vintage. Their collection is highly curated and the layout of the store is very chic, which makes the shopping experience more inviting. I am particularly a fan of their sweaters. I find that it is so hard to find good quality sweaters for a reasonable price in our modern world of mass produced cheaply made clothing, and I think this is particularly true of sweaters. Paisley Vintage has all sorts of really fun gems. I have purchased several sweaters from them now, including a 100% wool sweater from the 1950s, a unique handwoven musical note sweater from the 1980s, and a vintage wool Disney sweater, also from the 1980s. All sweaters were under $50 each and most fall within the $20-$30 range. Paisley Vintage is now my go to spot for sweaters, which will be perfect for the fall weather right around the corner. read more
