We recently ordered hardwood floors from the store. The initial experience was good. They offered good price and the female sales was nice. However it turned into a nightmare since we found out that we forgot to order the matching molding. After we found that we needed the matching molding after we got the floors, we ordered it from them and we were told it would arrive after one week. Then we thought we would just wait for a week to start the project. One week later, we called them to check the status. Robert kept saying it would arrive in 1 or 2 days. We then waited a few more days based on the false information that it would arrive "soon". Finally on one day, we called them multiple times to ask what on earth was going on. We were then told by Robert that they "made a mistake" and the manufactory didn't have it now and if we still wanted it, it would take another 2 - 3 weeks minimum! I wonder If we hadn't pushed asking for status, god knows how long they would keep telling us it would arrive in 1 or 2 days. Maybe one piece of molding doesn't come with a big profit, but we spent lots of money in the store on the hardwood floors. They shouldn't have done business this way. Our project was delayed because of the incorrect information they had been keeping telling us. During the whole process, we needed to call again and again and again to check on the status. And the worse part is they kept giving false information until we "harassed" them by multiple calls to ask for status after waiting for almost 2 weeks. We were planning to recommend the store to our friends who are also planning to do remodeling. Now we would tell them to avoid the store. read more

I had purchased some engineered wood in the past which was overall a pleasant experience. I made a return visit because I needed some more wood and transition pieces. I reluctantly paid the freight charge and got another box and a quarter round piece which one guys assured me that it would come before they close down for Christmas vacation. I purchased on 12/9 and was hoping to get it by 12/15 before they close down on 12/19. I came in to pick up my pieces only to find out that they didn't have the quarter round ready. Robert the guy that helped me said he would call me back later to update me which he never did. I called them before they went on their break and was told it wasn't there. I called a few more times and left some messages but none were replied. I decided to wait out and come after the new year. I came after the new year and the office was still closed. I waited a few more days and called back and they told me the pieces were available. I told Robert I no longer need the quarter round and wanted a refund and he said ok. I came to pick up the box today and said I needed a refund for the quarter round which to me wasn't much. Robert told me he doesn't know how much it costs and told me to wait for his brother who would know the price I paid. At this point I got really upset with how things are going. The pieces I have are a month late and now I have to wait some more to get my refund processed! Makes no sense to me. I got into a little argument with Robert and he told me do I want $20 for a piece I clearly paid $60 for. I finally pulled up my transaction and showed him how much I paid but he just said your part was here before the new year. At no time did the show any hint of them screwing up my order during the entire experience. Finally his brother came and they agreed to issue me my refund via check! In the end he offered me he piece for free assuming I wanted it for free. I respectfully declined and left. I definitely won't be coming back and caution anyone who wants me o come there. Recently we purchased Somerset Solid white oak hardwood floors from this store and had it installed in our house. The old carpet was replaced by the nicely looking solid hard wood floors. We are so happy about the new floors! Shopping for remodeling material is always time consuming and some time even frustrating. After a few weeks hardwood floors shopping, my husband and I finally decided to buy Somerset Solid white oak hardwood floors. Then it cames where we should buy the wood. In the midst of all of this after a long search I have come across this company to do the flooring for me. In every family discussion I was told it would take about 10 days from start to finish! We returned to the same place to buy stair nose. This time Robert did not seem to want our business at all. First he quoted $75/piece. Then $55. Then we told him we got a $45 price next door, and he lowered his price to match it. You wonder what is h is margin. OK, so he had stock and offered to sell us all the needed stair nose for $45 a piece. We started to color match out of his dust pile. All stair nose was overlap, but we did not know any better. After matching about 10 pieces, we found a beautiful,flush piece with perfect fit. It was just a short sample, less than 2". We asked Roberto if he could get similar stair nose for us. No. Could he give us the sample we found to look elsewhere for a similar one? No. Could he SELL us the sample? No. Could he tell us where he got it from? No. Roberto wanted so much to sell his stock that he forgot what customer service meant. We'll surely not recommend him anymore. read more

I ordered 651 sq ft Red Oak hardwood floor on 3/27 Thursday. Roberto Dorantes told us the return policy is " return within 30 days with unopened box and pay 30% restocking charges". He said he could deliver next Monday or Tuesday. End up they postpone few times and delivered on 4/10. More than a week late! Those hardwood floor is not good as the sample that he showed to us. Quality is fair only. 4/29 we return 9 unopened boxes to them. Roberto refused to take it back even we willing to pay 30% restocking charges as the return policy stated on invoice. He said that is special order, so no return. Actually he is liar. He didn't mention those are special order and even not mark on invoice. We said we will file complaint to BBB. He said go ahead and refuse to talk any more. So we file complaint and let other people know how they are!! 30% restocking charge already so high; but they still not satisfy!! They seems nice and easy to work with when you buy. But change to hard face if they think they can't make money from you. Don't buy from them save your time, money and headache!! read more

Once you try to return the unused materials they will play the game of switching salesmen on you and eventually will bring in the owner who will claim a "policy change" as an excuse for not accepting refunds. They did a great job in my removing carpet from the stairs and all the bedrooms and putting in matched hardwood. The stairs was a difficult job because there were curved stairs. They did the flooring in about a week for around 1100 sqft. Carmelo and Maclovio did an amazing job and very professional. They made sure to do the bedrooms in the order I wanted as we had a baby living in the house and they accommodated and worked with our needs. Glad I went with them for my hardwood floor remodel. I must admit I was a little hesitant at first to visit the 101 Floors facility since I received the flyer outside of their competitors business. However the fantastic smile and great personality of the young man distributing the flyers won us over. Since stepping into Robert Durante's business and shopping for a major project and upgrade to our recently purchased home in Morgan Hill, we could not have asked for better product or service . We purchased 2000+ ft of Maple flooring, special insulation, baseboards and all labor to include tear-out, installation, clean-up. He took the lead of installing the floors and he was especially conscientious and meticulous when it came to installing at the door trim and doorway. I did not want to have reducers or caps, since the floor was level with my hardwood floors and so he and the contractor's team made sure the bamboo was level and flush up against the existing hardwood floors. 10/25 10AM Saturday my Contractor's workers arrived at 8:30AM and started at 9:00AM, Roberto arrived at about 10:00AM to drop off Ricardo. 10/24 Friday The correct color of floors arrived, delivered personally by Roberto (owner) and his nephew, Ricardo. 10/23 They say they want to make things "right" and will be sending one of their install guys over, since this is impacting my Contractor too. 10/23 4:30 PM Their supplier sent wrong color - I had to go to the show room and to show them their sample I ordered from and the piece they gave my Contractor were different colors. Super slow, they would promise you some date and try to delay it. If you want to keep track of your schedule, you need to call them again and again. Try to avoid it, if you have hard deadline to get something done. Be careful of your bill, it may not be the same as they told you. Always check. If they say free baseboard, it may turns out no such item included at all. You are lucky if you can reach them by phone, the sales rep may refuse to answer your phone at all. read more

Avoid this supplier. Pulled a scam with my handiman. Supposedly ordered the flooring we wanted to be shipped up from LA to SJ. Required cash payment in advance, of course. Flooring failed to arrive on Monday, Tuesday (the committed delivery date), Wednesday, then on Thurday they delivered a different floor from stock they already had (and we had rejected). Our (now ex-)handiman (dba "Ambrosio") installed the wrong floor, returned the excess, destroyed all the boxes and paperwork. Both he and the the supplier are now insisting the mix-up is our fault. We are out $5K with no further recourse and no warranty! read more

The 2 installers were very punctual, efficient and did a great job. I have to add that they committed to a very tight schedule and delivered on time. They were doing such a great job and floors looked so great that we decided to add hardwood floor to the 3 bedrooms (in addition to the hallway and one room we had decided to put wood floors). So this totally changed the work load and yet they committed to the same time frame. This implied they had to come out on a saturday and they did it no questions asked, and gladly. I'm a property manager responsible for over 200 properties and depend on Yelp to find the best of the best contractors. As I started my own remodel it was especially important! Old Floors and Robert Dorantes absolutely fill that description! I happen upon Robert after visiting a nearby competitor. The competitor wanted a deposit for a very small sample. Robert not only gave me 3 large floor sections to take home but wanted no deposit, no name, and told me to keep them as long as I needed! After several days I returned with my choice, he gave me a quote, only to find out the sample was incorrectly labeled 'engineered', when it fact, it was solid wood. The price would have been much higher but Robert quickly said he would honor the quote without me even asking! I paid for the flooring, it arrived at his shop, but now I wasn't ready, in fact it was about 3 months latter that I still was not ready and I started to worry about my investment, called to ask if I could have my flooring brought to my house, and he did so the next day! Another month passed before I was ready. I called Old Floors on a Friday and they installed my floors the following week. His employees were the hardest workers and they did a beautiful job. But it gets better! He made for me by hand at his shop items I did not pay for, two door thresholds, a 5' step, and a beautiful floor register (I had bought some cheap metal ones at Home Depot) that matched my wood! Throughout the process I called a few times with questions and he always answered everyone, even gave me his cell phone to be sure I got a hold of him! He was patient, respectful, accommodating, hard working and fulfilled the job as promised! I highly recommend Robert and Old Floors.
