We were recommended by another company to come here and I can see why. Homer was really patient with me and spent a lot of time with my husband and I in trying to find the right flooring. On top of that, Homer answered my concerns and questions via email too. He is just wonderful! My only advice is to not ever get Mohawk tecwood, natural linen oak. It's my fault. I tried to research and I picked it. Homer tried to steer us to better quality to hold up for everyday use, but I was dead set on this. I should have listened. Mixed experience with FMD Distributor. On the positive side, We worked with Homer for our flooring project and had a fantastic experience. He was courteous, knowledgeable, patient, and always willing to help. He made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. Unfortunately, our experience with Shawn on the windows and doors side was the complete opposite. He often came across as condescending, seemed distracted and in a rush, and follow-up was poor. Customer service and communication were disappointing, and we were left wondering why someone with that attitude is in a customer-facing role. Based on my experience, I would happily recommend Homer for flooring, but I cannot say the same for the windows and doors department. read more

It is our first time doing home improvement and buying windows and doors. Our knowledge is very limited. However, Shawn is amazing!! He walks us through and he explains everything in details to let us understand what the options are and why certain options do not meet our needs. He is quick and responsive. EDIT: Vanessa, I'll be happy to amend this when we actually get our refund for the door we already returned to you. Calling our contractor to complain about an honest review, after many unanswered calls/texts/emails for the refund, isn't a good look. --- Our contractor sent us here to look at doors. We did look at what they had but when I asked about custom options for things like wood color and lite options, the sales person just told us to look at options on the manufacturer websites. We spec'ed out our door from the manufacturer website of the one we liked from their showroom, ordered it in October. They installed a temporary blank door on our addition so we would have a secure entrance to our home. I think we had it by December, and our painters applied multiple beautiful clear coats to this beautiful cherry door, but when it came time to install it, it was discovered that FMD milled the hinges in the wrong place, even though they had the measurements for placement from installing the temporary door. There would have been stucco work and painting to the new construction to make the wrong hinge placement work, so they reordered the door. 6 weeks was their estimate, should have been mid April. End of May we finally received the replacement door after weeks and weeks of "next week" and "by the end of the week", and immediately noticed upon delivery (which was last minute, outside of business hours, lucky I was home to receive it!) there were problems. There were extra holes drilled on either side of the hinges, 6 total, filled in sloppily with non-matching filler, like meant to match oak or something, not the cherry door. Apparently it was for the hinge template? The first door we received did not have these holes... "Staining/painting you won't notice." except we aren't staining or painting this beautiful cherry door we paid a premium for! I probably could have lived with it if they fixed the filler to match, it's just on the side by the hinges and waiting another 3 months for yet another replacement door wasn't what I wanted to be doing, but they messed up milling the holes for the handle and lock, there were 1/2 inch chips of wood removed from the top layer finish of the door, beyond what our door handle would cover up. They had ruined a gorgeous $5300 door. Our contractor returned the 2nd door they messed up, and they happily took it, but then ghosted him as he tried repeatedly (call, text, email) to get the actual refund for the returned door...it's been weeks. Oh and they delivered one of our interior doors with a large hole in it, like they had dropped it or something, and refused to accept the return ("you accepted delivery, you probably damaged it!"). We had purchased an additional 6 premium interior doors from them and that was the customer service they treated us with? Bridge burned, our contractor got that interior door remade by a different distributor. Stay away from them. Their customer service is awful, their workmanship is terrible, they are flaky and unreliable with their timelines. read more

When I reached out to Vanessa, she validated my feelings and contacted the manufacturer to fix the problem. I am very grateful for Vanessa's understanding and honesty as I know some other vendors would not do that. I appreciate it very much that during the wait for getting the replacement, Vanessa called me a few times to update the progress and made sure I was OK with the arrangement. Under no circumstances we were led to believe that each unit is only covering 1-24"x96". Purchased one front door, seven interior doors, one closet door, and two sliding barn doors from Shawn. Also purchased door handles, door hinges, and locks. Purchased baseboards and casing as well. Shawn was great. He walked us through the buying process quickly, got the order correct (and there was a lot of nuances to the order), and everything delivered on time or ahead of schedule. Everything is high quality (as expected since we generally selected quality material) and prices are competitive. Emtek door handles can have an issue with the screw, in which the door handle pulls off regardless of how deep the screw is though. Our contractor was aware of the issue and fixed it with an alternative screw. read more

I got some Bergamo Floors, engineered woods, color is oak usini, prime grade, 7.5''. Came out beautifully - extremely happy with the quality, there is no one single knot on the woods and that is what I really like. The color also goes well with our home style after the remodel. Homer is a great sales person, was very patient answering all kinds of questions I had, and was very helpful throughout the whole process. I wanted the 9.5'' prime in the same color, but it was not available when I placed the order. Homer was kind and called the distributor in LA a few times to see whether we got lucky and could have some 9.5'' prime. Even though the 9.5'' was still not available when we installed the floor, I really appreciate Homer's help. Now our house is all done, I am hoping to return 200 sq ft of the woods, and Homer is helping to connect with the distributor and see how that can be done. read more

We were excited to see their selection of treads and bannisters, and that it wasn't too long of a lead time to get our stairs. Pretty expensive though. $15,000+ for 13 hardwood stairs, bannister and a hardwood landing that's 6'x10'. We asked the demo team who installed the treads and landing about paint but they said it wasn't them. Then we had another crew install the banister and balusters, and we asked them about paint and they said, it's not them. So, not so good on communication or timeline. It took them 3 days to demo and install the treads and landing. Installing the banister and balusters took twice as long. On day one, they measured for 8 hours and installed one post. Day two measured again for 8 hrs and installed one more post. Friday they didn't show and said it was because I told them not to! Hardly, I asked if I should reschedule the cleaners to Monday and they said yes. The helper even said we'll see you tomorrow morning (Friday), and then they didn't show. Day 4 (Monday) they installed a 3' banister on the landing, two more days to install the rest of the banister and balusters. Even with 2+ days of measuring, they still drilled a hole in the wrong place on the landing and had to plug it ‍ We asked Mosen (lead?) about staining and painting and he was incredulous that we wanted the risers painted. I pointed to them and asked "Does this look done?" He did say no. I then got an estimate from Allen for an extra $300+ to paint the risers. I asked him how could they charge over $15,000 and not paint the risers? Mosen did offer to paint the risers as part of the project. The painter showed up and only stained the banister and painted the balusters. We were very confused as to why and he said he was only engaged for the banisters, not the tread. WTF? Talked to Mosen (lead?) and he said the painter wanted too much for the treads. So we had to wait until he shopped around for a cheaper painter. A couple of days later, the same painter arrived to stain the treads and paint the risers. It would've been easier for him to stain the treads and banister all at the same time and then paint! We are grateful that FMD did paint the risers, but we had to argue for it. They said they only stain, not paint. If you want them to paint, it's extra. How do you not paint? And to top it all off, I paid half at the beginning of the project and 5 minutes after the painter was finally done, Mosen sent him back to the house to collect payment. We also had two phone calls, one from Mosen and another from Allen asking for payment in those 5 minutes. We just spent a year and over $100,000 renovating our house and NO ONE demanded the final payment 5 minutes after they were done. We did get exactly want we wanted but it took much longer than we expected, we had to argue for what we wanted, and had little communication about timeline and when to expect the next team. Of all the contractors we engaged this last year, FMD was the most exasperating and frustrating to deal with. I'd definitely shop around if you're looking for flooring or stairs. read more

Let me start off with this. Without Sandra we would of been lost! We remodeled our entire house, top to bottom. Walked into FMD and started with cabinets. Sandra helped guide us through the process, even offered to help with some decoration ideas and suggestions, which we moved forward with. She let us know she can help with more then just kitchen cabinets and we ended up getting all of our materials through Sandra at FMD. She worked through time constraints, materials, sourcing, trader workers, etc... We continue to call Sandra for other projects and refer all of our friends and family her way. Extremely Terrible customer service, DO NOT COME HERE!!!!! Once you paid and the doors are delivered. They do not want to provide any help for the existing orders if you have questions about the orders. And they don't have any warranty on doors even though it's their fault by making mistake on the orders. The quality of doors are very cheaply made. The doors that we got from homedepot are better. So regret coming here for my $25K purchases for all the interior doors and closet doors. Everyone here attitude are so rude...I can't believe this company is still in business. read more

When we reached out to Homer, he was assisting another customer and about to break for lunch, yet he still made the time to help us. He quickly knew where and how to source the material, and once the manufacturer reopened the next day, he created an online invoice for us. Homer was courteous, supportive, and highly professional throughout the process. Although I don't recall the name of the other associate, he was also extremely helpful and did his best to support us while Homer was with another customer. They chased us for our business. After we ordered some doors from them, we had a problem with one - the most expensive one we purchased. Then they completely gave us the run around. We ordered a door with built in blinds. The blinds are not hung evenly. They took forever to call us back and finally sent someone to come look at the problem. The person came and looked, and agreed the blinds were not even. However, they would not properly fix it, and said we would have to have someone else paint it again if they fix the problem. I am so sad we spent $1100 for a door that has uneven blinds that I look at every day. Owner just replied so I am editing this in response. The door was NOT fixed by FMD. Like I said above: we would have to pay someone to paint it again, because FMD would not even though they should have provided a good quality product the first time. FMD did not fix the blinds or replace the door. Maybe your employee is not letting you know what happened. read more

FMD has been hit-or-miss for us. We purchased trim for three rooms, which turned out great and the experience was just fine. However, we also ordered two bathroom windows. I brought in an exact spec of what I needed (a Milgard PO from a competitor), I asked for two specific modifications to the spec, Shawn typed it into his computer and printed it for me to sign. I don't know what all the acronyms mean, so I, the idiot customer, signed it. Fast forward, my contractor looks at the window and says "this isn't tempered glass. It has to be tempered for a bathroom window within 3' of a shower." I look back - the original PO said Tempered. The one Shawn typed up (and I signed) did not say Tempered. When I emailed Shawn about it, he gave me the CYA line about "this is why we ask customers to sign". He, and FMD, are covered legally. I signed it, it's my fault. I won't repeat here the word my contractor used to describe FMD when I told him this story. I hope the $450 they saved by not replacing the window is worth the future business lost from me (minimal) and my contractor (not minimal). Take my situation as a warning: Triple-check those purchase orders before you sign!! read more

They were busy and I had to wait while other customers were putting in my order. No big deal, but the thing that stood out was while there was a break in his transaction with the other customer, he greeted me and let me know he would be with me. After pointing me in the direction of the flooring I was looking for, I spent my time browsing the showroom samples. Gorgeous options for flooring and trim. It was well laid out, clean, and as pleasant as a flooring store could be. Once Homer was done with his previous customer, he came over and explained the options for the brand I picked out, and the ordering process.
