    Sausage Platter
    Michelle L.

Always a must when we go to big bear. The food is soo good. They don't have too many vegetarian options. More just a soup and maybe a vegetable sandwich. But the sausages are worth it ! The service was great. The girls were so nice. It has indoor seating and outdoor if you'd like to sit outdoors. They have canned beer and draft beers and canned drinks as well.

We came here on 8/23/26. Place little different from our last visit 7 years a go. But the food and taste still the same. Service great. They sold the place since the last time we were there. But we will come back again if we in the area for sure. Place is clean and a lot to choose from. Restroom just needs an update or some kind of upgrade.

As soon as I heard them playing The Strokes, I knew this place was going to be good. I got the 1/2 smoked turkey sandwich with cup of potato soup, and it was good and filling. We tried eating outside but there was just toooo many bees so beware.

I got the reuben with potato soup and a draft beer. About $25 all in. Delicious and hit the spot after a hike. I came at about 330 on a Thursday and it was empty inside but they had a decent amount of seating. Had various German beers and candies that you could buy to take home as well.

Knackwurst Sausage Plate with Potato Salad ($15).

I am a sucker for a German deli and was so happy to have found that Big Bear has one! The range of products available was not as extensive as some of the German deli shops I've enjoyed visiting, but there was still plenty to try and enjoy. Our family arrived for an early lunch during the week and it was pleasantly quiet. The service was incredibly friendly and efficient too. I ordered the Knackwurst sausage plate ($15). Everything was delicious, the yellow mustard and saurkraut being the "cherry on top". Wonderful German deli with good food, friendly service, comfortable and clean seating, and a nice dog friendly patio too. Highly recommend stopping by!

Second time here and both times delicious. The Bavarian Loaf sandwich is so fresh and light. The mustard is medium balanced, not too strong, but good flavor. My daughter loved her plate, too. The potato salad is fantastic as is the warm sauerkraut.

One of my favorite places in all of Big Bear and probably my favorite sandwich place ever. I always get the roast beef and potato soup, I forget how great it is until I bite into it and realize yeah, it's even better than I remember (every. single. time.) It's all so good!! My husband always gets the pretzel too. The inside is spacious and there's plenty of room to sit and enjoy your meal. And the service is always good.

Sausage platter, turkey and pesto sandwich, small pretzel and hummus

Absolutely amazing! The food was so delicious that I'm anticipating coming back again. The sausage platter had the perfect amount of food and the sausages were tender and juicy. Amber, who was running the counter was so kind and patient. She waited while we took a look at the menu and was more than happy to answer any of our questions. 10/10 service, 10/10 food! The homemade ice cream was phenomenal. Creamy and sweet, the pistachio flavor is subtle and the pistachios on top really complement it. The pretzel was soft and pair wonderfully with the hummus which had an amazing red pepper flavor.

    Sausage Platter. Yummy!

Really liked the sausages and sandwiches here. But our favorite thing was the mustard. Really unique flavor in this mustard. Really wish I would've taken some to go. Service was great! Plenty of seating inside and outside. They also have a great selection of beers. Gotta try it out!

Found Old German Deli as a unique lunch option at Big Bear. They have dedicated parking with both indoor and outdoor seating options with a bathroom. We ordered the Schinkenwurst cold cut sandwich with a side of potato soup and a Sausage Platter (two sausages: Polish Kielbasa and Currywurst) with a side of potato salad. The potato salad was excellent - a bit different from traditional salad with mustard and small chunks of sausage. Both sausages were tender and the Polish Kielbasa was snappy. My favorite was the mustard dip - it was both sweet and tangy, I wish we could purchase it! Workers were friendly and food came out quickly. Would recommend for a quick bite near Big Bear Lake!

    Awesome weekly deal!

Literally our favorite place in Big Bear. We have struck out so many times trying to find decent food in Big Bear. But I wish this place was in LA! We usually go twice.

July 2025 - Sausage Platter, Small Pretzel, Apple Strudel Slice
    Jessamine A.

We arrived right after they opened and were the first customers. The store was decorated with old German pictures and decor. There were European type candies and snacks available to buy. It was a homely restaurant. The service to get our food was a bit slow. Instead of ordering individual sandwiches, we ordered the Sausage Platter to share. We chose the Polish Kielbasa and a Knackwurst sausage. It came with a small pretzel bun, warm sauerkraut, a pickle spear, and potato salad. Their potato salad was not mayonnaise based and made with grain mustard and some sausage. It reminded me of cold, chunky mashed potato with sausage. Hubby preferred the kielbasa because of its deep beefy flavor. The Knackwurst (pork & beef) was lighter in flavor. The warm sauerkraut had good flavor and went well with the sausage and pretzel bun. We ordered a small pretzel to try and it was perfect after eating all of the pretzel bun. The apple streudel was served cold. Hubby took it back to our hotel room and warmed it up. It was yummy. Too bad we didn't have any ice cream. Hubby also wished he could buy the sausages in bulk to take home.

One of our must stop lunch places when visiting Big Bear. We stopped by for a to-go lunch order on a late afternoon in late December. There was no wait in line. We ordered: Schinkenwurst, Bavarian loaf, Roast Beef, and the German chocolate cake. The mustard on the side is delicious. They also sell snacks. Parking and finding seating can sometimes be a challenge during peak lunch hours, however the food is worth the visit!

Patty greeted us when we came in the door and said we could sit wherever we wanted. She was lovely, very attentive and helpful. Her sister owns the place. She even gave us scads of recommendations for other local places to try and things to do. My husband ordered the chicken parmesan with a side house salad while I got the scallop fettuccine dish and splurged the $3 extra to get their Caesar salad (totally worth it, made in house). Everything is made to order and each dinner came with a board of homemade bread and house made butter for the table. Folks. That bread. Was So Good. Soft and tasty and the parmesan, garlic, parsley butter melted right on it. There was something that didn't hit my palate right on my dish, so Patty offered to get me something else. I decided against that (because the scallops themselves were stellar) but I agreed to some extra Alfredo sauce to mellow out the flavors in the pasta, which worked great! When she learned it was our anniversary, Patty gave us a slice of cheesecake on the house the likes of which I have never tasted before. I don't order cheesecake often, but this was beautifully creamy and sweet. If you want to support local businesses, I highly recommend Jakobe's.
