We had a race in Big Bear and saw this place was close with gluten free options. What a cool vibe. Gluten free beers and buns, yummy menu and the decor is so unique and fun. It reminded me of the sexy Harry Styles scene in don't worry darling when we sat at the back booth . The owner served us and was super great. We will be back!

Smash burger with Parmesan garlic fries

The Garlic parmesan fries were so mouthwatering. They had really good customer service + friendly! We brought my dog and he was well taken care of (he even got 2 pup patties!) I recommend to people up in big bear, or traveling.

We'd been talking about stopping by this new place for a while and decided today was the day. We were on our way home from lunch and decided to just stop by for a drink and check out the place, we were definitely intrigued by the mountain/space decor this place offered. We got a beer and a margarita and some pretzel bites and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. We also got to meet the owner (Kara) who was very friendly and nice to chat with. This place is located close to the ski slopes and is a nice place to stop by for a quick drink. Can't wait to come back and enjoy their outdoor seating area when the snow is gone, I hear they may be putting in a stage to have music on the weekends, can't wait to come back and try that out!

Gluten-free chicken tenders with gluten-free waffle fries, and American cheeseburger saucer
    Aarti P.

Very accommodating for celiac. Apparently the owner has celiac disease and so almost everything on the menu is gluten-free other than their beer cheese and their regular bun. We had gluten-free chicken tenders, gluten-free waffle fries, and gluten-free saucers, which were a really cool uncrustable-looking cheeseburger that they have there.

Beer took 20 minutes and we waited for 65 minutes for food to arrive (and we ordered chicken tenders and pretzels). So as long as you have ample time to hang out and play. Orders did not come out in order and sort of confusing by waitstaff. Instead of checking numbers they would ask in"who has hunger fingers?" Note: staff said we had to order from app. Bartender then said never order from app or it will take forever, so good luck! edit: we left without food. They'll bartender was quite rude saying he "has had a stressful weekend and we should know food will take while." We have had a great weekend at big bear and this won't ruin it, but this place is trash. Positive: Ambiance is nice. Kids and dogs can hang out playfully. But eating wise and ordering beer probably go elsewhere.

You have to get the hot soft pretzels with the beer cheese. The soft pretzels are so soft and the beer cheese is delicious. Definitely come check this place out. It's also just a really cool vibe inside. There's also a great selection of beers.

They just opened 2 weeks ago with Beer and Wine and a limited amount of food but what I tried was good. No liquor. Did the Dum-Dum Chicken and Torpedo Shrimp with a nice tasty Blonde on tap then a flavorful IPA. A friend ordered the Pretzels and it isn't your large homemade style pretzel, it's more of the bar/snack out of the bag pretzels. Luke bartender and Robert are great people making you feel welcome and inform you of what they have to offer. Newly decorated and dog friendly with plenty of outside seating and fenced area to play in. This is a great addition to the Moonridge area and a nice place to come unwind.

Animal style wachos in the to-go box
    S. C.

Great service and the animal style wachos were amazing. We asked for them in a to go box because we weren't eating the whole serving while hanging out. They put them in a to-go box. The specialty draft beers (both the IPA and the blonde) were super good. Pro tip: The leftover wachos reheated SO well in the air fryer as a midnight snack.

A delightful surprise. Delicious food and beer. Service is included, which is just awesome. Indoor and outdoor seating is great. In a world full of restaurants, they somehow managed to create something unique and interesting. The sci-fi spaceship theme is fun and the wait staff is great.

Being my first time I like to gauge the staff/table ratio ti get an idea on wait time for service. While waiting for my friend, I noticed a large table off to the side having drinks and playing a card game. I was impressed seeing that they were consistently getting rounded on by their server. Finding out this was a family run small business made this even more impressive as it was a full house. Additionally, it felt like the entire bar was excitedly watching the FIFA game, which was surprising because the difference in noise level from the outside of the building was significant. From the bar perspective, the bartenders were so kind (A), provided short/sweet conversation and excellent recommendations (A+), AND gave us time to look over the menu without being pushy (A++). I tried the lavender buzz and the oso espresso martini, my girlfriend had a lavender lemonade seltzer both being DELICIOUS. We Comfortable chairs, bathrooms and business were clean, and water is available at any time by the door with a self serve station. Overall, great spot, amazing staff, great variety of beers and seltzers, the pizzas are killer, the nachos were perfect, cocktails were a hit, great space for watching a game or hosting a group apparently, and even better for a date night! Stoked to have a place like The Bear Trap in Big Bear. Already planning our next trip.

He is the rudest, negative and most unfriendly person I think I have ever met! I got up went to the restroom and he trashed my water and napkins. When I asked if I could have more water with lime I was given water with lemon (not a big deal) then I jokingly made a comment about the napkins! Tony proceeded to tell me to go to another bar and closed us out! He said a few more choice words I won't repeat! He is bad for your establishment! There were a a handful of people waiting to be seated when we arrived and the couple before us were seated at the last outdoor patio table available. The hostess told us that we could go upstairs to the bar area and sit anywhere we wanted and a server would be with us directly. So that's what we did. As a side note, the whole vibe of the restaurant was very comfortable and the building itself is pretty remarkable. Water and menus were delivered within minutes of us selecting our table, and our waitress Victoria maintained that same level of attentiveness the whole time we were there. The biggest shortcoming of so many restaurants in and around Big Bear is the bar and their specialty drinks. But this place just slam dunked on every other restaurant we've ever tried over the years - and not just for the drinks. I love a good old fashioned but until last night, every place I'd been to served their old fashioned in a glass full of ice like I was getting a soda at a fast food drive through. Not here. A proper big block ice cube made the "Maple old fashioned" (hands down) the best drink I've ever had. (I think they've got like 7 or 8 different varieties of the old fashioned and I will definitely be back to try them.) Our potato skins appetizer was on another level and that was before our entrees even arrived. My beef dip sandwich was perfect as was wifey's chicken Scaloppini. The timing of food arriving and the periodic check-ins from our waitress was flawless. We spoke briefly with the bartender, Doug (who may or may not have been one of the owners) to express how much we enjoyed our drinks and dinner. The hallmark of a well-run restaurant is that everyone who works there conducts themselves like it's their name on the sign out front. That's exactly what we got from everyone involved. Whoever is in charge of the kitchen staff deserves a Michelin star rating. The rest of the staff is equally impressive. I can't say enough about this place. Excellent drinks, excellent food and dynamite service. If you want a top-notch dining experience in Big Bear, this should be your first and only choice. From now on, it'll be mine.
