We absolutely love The Moonridge Room! My daughter (celiac disease) and I both eat gluten free, and this has become one of our favorite places in Big Bear. We've been many times and are always impressed by how many gluten-free options they have. They even have gluten-free beer, which is such a rare find! More importantly, the food is genuinely fantastic. Everything we've tried has been delicious, the atmosphere is great, and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. Can't go wrong with this platter, except those two were a little cold, needed to sit in the fryer a bit longer. Either way, scarfed. Cider, beer, sake cocktails. No hard alcohol. So glad my partner and I stopped in the Moonridge Room! Digital menu at the table made it easy to order and pay. We sat outside because it was a beautiful day and their outside area is so cute! The moon ridge room is really fantastic. On Wednesday, nights, when they have an open mic jam. And some incredibly talented people come. They have a bar so you can get beer and wine. I don't know what else they sell for the liquor but the beer on tap is good and it's not very expensive either. And they got a new menu, I think, and I went there and I had the tacos, and they were really good. So it's a nice little space, and they 're doing some good things there. We'd been talking about stopping by this new place for a while and decided today was the day. We were on our way home from lunch and decided to just stop by for a drink and check out the place, we were definitely intrigued by the mountain/space decor this place offered. We got a beer and a margarita and some pretzel bites and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. We also got to meet the owner (Kara) who was very friendly and nice to chat with. This place is located close to the ski slopes and is a nice place to stop by for a quick drink. Very accommodating for celiac. Apparently the owner has celiac disease and so almost everything on the menu is gluten-free other than their beer cheese and their regular bun. Note: staff said we had to order from app. Bartender then said never order from app or it will take forever, so good luck! edit: we left without food. They'll bartender was quite rude saying he "has had a stressful weekend and we should know food will take while." Did the Dum-Dum Chicken and Torpedo Shrimp with a nice tasty Blonde on tap then a flavorful IPA. I feel like the traveling food critic. I feel that I need to let people know whether a place is worth visiting or not. They do have a convenient contact less camera app system where you can come in, sit down and order and pay with ease. The place has laid back rustic charm. The staff is very nice. I walked in like I was frozen in carbonite for the last 10 years. I was looking for the host and a wall menu. lol. This is a modern place with an old skool feel. Nevertheless, the person tending the bar was very kind and took my order. I ordered the chicken tenders and a Sauvignon blanc. I scoffed at the $38 charge at first, until I read that the strips were gluten free. Ok. That forgives the price for sure. I'm on a gluten free diet so this was a great bonus on my cheat day. These were perfectly fried and had a crispy golden surface. Inside the chicken was juicy and tender. The fries were their signature waffle fries. Pretty good. I'm not a fan of fries but I didn't care today. Overall great place to pop in if you are staying in the Moonridge area of big bear. Shhh...it's a secret spot! (The Locals Village) The first time I came to this restaurant, I had come by myself and ordered a smash burger and their beer on tap! Both are good, don't believe me, ask for a sample! They have three tvs behind the bar. This particular night the Dodgers game was on. It was a fun crowd with opposing fans as we all watched the game. The 2nd time, I went we ordered the sampler which had little bites of a variety of food they serve. Perfect item to share between two people with a couple of beers. Luke is the friendly bartender and Matthew is the server that efficiently brings out the food. Some nights they have a band and live singer to entertain. First time in here. It's great to have a place on Moonridge, closer to the Zoo and golf course. Greeted warmly when I walked in around 5pm on Thursday. Ordered a glass f wine. Looked up the wine on the internet. It sells $5 per bottle, but the cost here is $48. It was the Chardonnay. I ordered an appetizer of the beer pretzels with warm cheese. It was very good. The vibe in here is laid back and comfortable. If you are older or have knee issues don't sit on the bar stools. The bartender was nice and attentive to my needs, but spent all of his time talking to the locals and took no time to engaged me in any conversation, even after everyone else left. For a new place, it was good. There is definitely room for improvement, as expected. I hope this review helps you and them. Give this place a try and let's help them succeed. This place is super cute. We wanted a fast bite to eat after our long drive. The menu we found online looked different than in person just FYI We got the smash burger and the buffalo chicken and they come in a cute design that's like a calzone but different. The meals come with chips (which I wish there was an alternative because I don't like chips at all). But it is at least a brewery with excellent food. Came here with a friend on Labor day weekend for some chill vibes and local brews! Service was quick and efficient with the use of QR code menus - so easy to use! We didn't order any good this time, but the menu looks stellar! I did subtract a star for the ambiance, the patio itself is cozy with picnic benches and hanging string lights.
