My husband ordered breakfast bagels and coffee for us - to go. The Asiago bagel was great, but the eggs were odd. Almost like a powdered egg mix? He also picked up a few scones, which were pretty good as well. As much as I'd like to forget it, I feel obligated to let people know how awful the coffee was. I had a vanilla latte. Such was the case the other day when I was going through Brigham City on my way to Logan. Out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw something about bread or a bakery. Immediately it called to me. I had to know more. I was obsessed. There was a U-turn in the direction I thought I had been heading, and I went to investigate. Now, sometimes this happens and you end up disappointed. But regardless of the outcome, you HAVE to seize it. In this case, I was not disappointed. Old Grist Mill is a larger-than-you'd-expect bakery with a little cafe inside. They've got soups and sandwiches, and a bakery case full of delightful indulgences. They also have a few breakfast items including croissant and bagel sandwiches with your basic breakfast eggs, and hams, and sausages, and the like. Now, this isn't gourmet food. But the whole thing--the little store with locally-made goods, with all kinds of nut and grain and sweet and family loaves of bread, juices, and other items for sale... it was just perfect. I selected a croissant sandwich and a raspberry roll (think frosted cinnamon roll, but instead of cinnamon and sugar, it's raspberry) and it was indeed a magical morning. When I left my house that morning, I wasn't looking for a bakery. But life throws those things at you and you have to be paying attention. There are lots of things that get in the way--distractions that we put in our way that keep us from really feeling the importance of those moments--but these are moments that really define a life. What is life, if not a sequence of decisions about little things with which we fill our days? For example, those surprise bakeries on the road that pop up and can shape who we are. And don't be afraid to change where you are going just because it's not what you imagined when you get out of bed that morning. We found it. Objectively the worst food on the planet. I made better sandwiches when I was six years old. The best part of the meal was a side of nostalgia because that's the exact vegetable beef stew they served in my grade school cafeteria. Why would you ever go to Subway when you can come here? And that's saying a lot coming from me because I've definitely had my fair share of Subway subs. The sandwiches here are loaded with veggies and meat and it's all piled onto fresh baked bread. On top of all that, it's cheap. None of the combos are more than $7 and you can get a whole sandwich for $4. The bags of chips here are only a few bites though so don't be expecting much there. I have never written a yelp review in my life, I feel the need today. I can not believe how incredibly SLOW they are!!! My mind is blown. It was not busy and they had 6 people working. We ordered 2 sandwiches and a soup, it took 30 min!!! I watched as they made a sandwich, it was like watching Flash on Zootopia! Charming restaurant with the speed of a fast food place! You walk in and are immediately drawn into the giant stack of breads and pastries you can buy to take home. Grabbed myself a pumpkin bread (which they had in April, YES PLEASE) and it was so moist and lasted me a whole 2 weeks!! I chose to get the French Dip sandwich for my main meal, which also came with chips, a drink, and a cookie, but they let me sub it for a HUGE brownie, no extra cost. The sandwich was sub par, not my favorite because it was on a roll and not a baguette, but still pretty good. Next time I'll try something with turkey! Of all the great things about this place, it's the prices for sure. Nothing like Momma's homemade cooking without the big dollar signs. I wish they had one closer to where I'm from but for now, I'll just have to travel out to Brigham City to stock up on all their gems!! Definitely worth a stop in, I was in and out in 20 minutes. Good sandwiches, but avoid on busy weekends and holidays, they lose the ability to get orders right. Last visit, they forgot the pumpkin squares that we ordered, which we caught before leaving. Unfortunately, we didn't catch they made one of the sandwiches as a half sandwich when we ordered and paid for a full one. My friend and I were traveling through Utah and heard about the delicious treats OGM had to offer! Being a bread lover and having the biggest sweet tooth it was hard to resist to try it! .... I would never recommend OGM to anyone. The potato soup is tasteless (helped to add pepper) and I felt like I could make a better sandwich at home. My friend and I both ordered sour dough and they gave us white bread that looked and tasted like Sara Lee white bread (no offense to Sara Lee white bread). Don't mean to be a Karen but definitely expected way more. Do they even bake fresh bread or any use fresh ingredients? Our middle school cafeteria lunches were better! The staff sadly was super rude, bossy and no staff members wore masks. You would think with Utah having the worst covid numbers right now they would be wearing masks and gloves. I am concerned Because most customers were elderly. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been clean in months and was out of toilet paper. The environment was depressing. Old grist mill has the worst dry, crumbly bread, cheapest meat, cheese, and vegetables. Their cakes are usually dry and stale tasting. Not sure how they stay in business, the one in Logan is the same. I always hate it when work caters from their, Ive eaten it a dozen times and it always sucks. read more

Stopped in at Old Grist on 9/5 at about noon. It was VERY concerning that the manager (had some kind of bling on the cap of her hat) never put on a mask and was making and serving food. Very unprofessional, and I believe could be against the new rules. Others had masks half on and half off, some eating in the back room. The food was good, but it did not make up for the employee behaviors. Quite a few older folks (at risk) in this place - me included. Not returning for obvious reasons. read more

Great service but would rather eat a sandwich from subway... they forgot to put lettuce on my sandwich which I had requested. I didn't complain because, well... it's just lettuce. Also I paid $6.40 for half a sandwich, a cup of soup and a drink. Again, Subway has better quality and bang for your buck. I ordered a roast beef sandwich with cheddar on multigrain bread. It was terrific and reasonably priced. I ordered an iced vanilla latte on my way out and it was the worst iced coffee I've ever had!! I expected more from a place that has "espresso" on the outside of the building. The person making my iced (no ice by the time I got it) coffee actually steamed the milk so it was clear that coffee isn't their forte. I couldn't taste vanilla or coffee in it as the only flavor was of watered down milk! I really try to seek out local coffee shops and restaurants whenever possible. So driving across Utah I saw this place next to the gas station where I was filling up and thought I would check it out. The teenage girls that were working there -- none of the staff could have been even 17 -- had no idea what kind of ingredients were in their soups. They didn't know if they had anything other than milk as creamer for their coffee. They even had to go find someone else who knew how to make an Americano, even though it's prominently listed on their menu. Very disappointing staff. read more

I've only been here now for 4 days and it's my 4th time to eat at this establishment. The bread is homemade and the soups are amazing. On certain days, they have pizza and pasta. This place has its extreme pluses then it has its extreme minuses. I'll start with the positives about this place though. First off the bread is fresh and super yummy. You can buy it by the loaves of you want. On your sandwich it doesn't disappoint though. It's super soft and really brings the whole sandwich together. The sandwiches here are my favorite because taste fresh. Get lettuce,tomatoes, whatever you want really you build your own and the ingredients always tastes fresh. Also something really good here was baked good. Can't go wrong with cinnamon rolls, brownies, and or there cookies always amazing. Okay the minuses is I don't like there soup at all. Every single one I've tried and I've tried multiple flavors taste like straight salt to me. Way too much salt! I one time got the vegetable soup and it was so awful. Also not huge fan of the set up, it look like a cafeteria in there. So go try the sandwiches and a cinnamon roll but my opinion avoid those soups. read more

We ordered a grilled cheese and a Rubin with side of tomato soup, to go. While the flavor profile of the sandwiches were good, they did not spend enough time on the grill. Low quality food, snappy employees, crappy customer service and confusing ordering. I ordered a French dip with some veggies on it. When I got the sandwich, there was no dip for the French dip and the sandwich was cold. The manager's explanation was "people don't normally add veggies to a French dip so we just chose to ignore the French dip part" even though I was charged for it, so I had them remake it. When they did it was missing two ingredients, the pickles and the horseradish, and there were Bean sprouts on the sandwich, even though I didn't order Bean sprouts. And the sandwich was STILL cold. They also gave me white bread instead of sourdough. All in all I will never be returning to this place because they just make assumptions and change orders without the customer's consent, and when they are caught they remake you crappy, incorrect orders. read more

It's all pre-sliced from a bag from who knows how many days ago? Cookies are inconsistent, sometimes good-baked flat with crispy edges. Other times not good-unbaked and too thick in the center.
