UMA Cantina Peruana is a great spot for authentic Peruvian cuisine. The ceviche was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared, while the causa was absolutely delicious. Service was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, with both indoor and outdoor seating areas that create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. My only complaint is that the tables feel a bit small for the size and number of dishes served. Once several plates arrive, there is very little free space left on the table. I would recommend ordering one or two dishes at a time to fully enjoy the meal without feeling crowded. read more

Tried this new Peruvian restaurant in Aventura/North Miami. It's located on the ground floor of a high end condo. The place is very elegant and romanticish/cozy dark and well decorated. We first ordered the very tasty Pisco chicha morada ($19 size of a martini glass.) For appetizer we had the causa and the tiradito very delicious (small portion 1 person.) For dinner we had the aji de gallina one of the best I've had (compared to the top Peruvian places around town,) and the fish tacos which were great. It's great if you're in the mood for a high end Peruvian dinner date. Our bill was hefty for those few things and gratuity is included 20%. read more

The food was delicious! I mean I've been to Peruvian restaurants but this one topped it off for me! The ají de gallina was the best I've ever had. The lomo was delicious. Honestly, all the food was amazing. The pisco was good deff would recommend the passion fruit over the chicha. The suspiro dessert was good but I wish the suspiro was actually the hard one and not the creamy type. Our server was great, she was very attentive and nice. I believe her name is Veronica. My girlfriend and I visited for our anniversary and, while the food was good, we were disappointed by how an ordering mistake was handled. When ordering, I showed our waitress a photo of a dish online and specifically asked if it was the same item listed on the menu. She looked at the photo and confirmed that it was. When the food arrived, it was clearly not the same dish. She later admitted that she realized the mistake after placing the order but never told us before the food came out. She mentioned that she would let the manager know about the situation, and later confirmed that the misunderstanding was her mistake, not an issue with the photo. Despite that, no manager ever came by to check on us, apologize, or offer any kind of solution. Mistakes happen, and I completely understand that. What was frustrating was that everyone acknowledged the mistake, but nothing was done about it. We ended up paying for an order that was incorrectly confirmed by our server and left feeling like the situation was brushed aside rather than addressed. read more

A friend invited me here this weekend, we were excited knowing that it was new. We saw the beautiful pictures on social media. Unfortunately, we had a huge let down but are willing to give it another chance and give it some time to warm up since they are only 2 weeks old. The restaurant is beautiful inside with a decent outdoor patio. Lots of blues, gold hues and intimate vibes. Service was terrible and if you read my reviews, you know I never say this. It wasn't our lovely waiters fault (Veronica) she was amazing. However, the entire team lacked leadership and training. They all seemed confused but the managers were scolding them in front of the customers and not helpful at all. I disliked seeing that so much. It's embarrassing to the employee and person dining. They should have pulled the waitress to the side instead. They forgot my drink, I received it at the end of the meal. Service took forever and the person next to me got served raw duck in which she returned and they brought back the same duck that had a bite on it cooked instead of getting a new one. On to the food. Here is where it gets better and the reason they got 3 stars because the service alone was 1. We ordered the following: Taquitos Peruanos- purple corn tortilla, spicy tuna (wasn't spicy) avocado & mango gel. We loved this appetizer. The mango gel was yummy. I would order this again. Conchas a la Batayaki - dynamite sauce, chalaquita scallop, sweet potato. Was a different more modern take on this peruvian dish. It was good. Arroz a la Chiclayana - duck breast, cilantro fried rice, avocado, egg, squash, chocolate. If you like duck this is good. Luckily mine was cooked well. Ceviche clasico - classic ceviche. It was good but not my favorite. Dessert: Suspiro limeno- lemon custard style dessert, i loved this. We forcefully had to park in Valet. I have no idea if they have guest parking because the restaurant is on the bottom of a residential building i did not see extra parking spaces. Valet was $14. read more

Una vez que probé el Arroz me sentí decepcionado, no soy chef, pero si se el sabor de los platos peruanos, El nombre del plato debería ser Arroz de Cilantro(Cilantro Rice), creo se les olvidó la cerveza negra y la chicha de jora o no le pusieron lo suficiente para cambiar el color del arroz y lo más esencial el sabor. Que no estaba presente. Entiendo que es cocina moderna, pero me gustaría saber si el plato siempre es así de claro y también el sabor o fue un descuido de la cocina. Soy Peruano de padre Chiclayano y Madre Cusqueña y siempre desgustaba de los deliciosos platos de casa del Norte, en Lima y aquí en Estados Unidos. hope this email reaches the correct people in the UMA organization. We had dinner there the other evening. Your food is good and delicious, however you have a very big problem with the parking.. After spending almost $200 for dinner, its embarrassing and completely "being taken advantage of ", when the valet parking charged us "$28.00 to park 2 cars" .(its cheaper over night at the airport) lol ... They will put you out of business....... Just under principle, We will not return.. I am sure most of your customers feel the same way.. It would "behoove" you to take care of this problem if you want to stay open and pay the rent. I am surprised the management in some way has not taken care of this problem already, they know they have this problem and should be compensating the client with a drink or something from the onset... Perhaps some management adjustment is necessary... Uma - [ ] Unfortunately, my experience was not great at this restaurant. I had booked a reservation several days before today to ensure I would have a table inside where I would see the DJ playing tonight. A day later, I find in my inbox that they had cancelled my reservation and I immediately called to see why. When I called, I was shocked that the person that answered the phone only said "hello" and not the name of the restaurant or asking how she could help, I was confused because I had assumed I called the wrong number and I had to ask her if I was calling the restaurant. This should have been a red flag but I ignored it. When I asked her why they had cancelled my reservation she said that there was ongoing issues with OpenTable and that was why, I then asked her to put in my reservation in her own system and she kept insisting I sit in the terrace that the DJ would be both inside AND outside which is the main purpose why I decided to support this restaurant. I arrived to the restaurant and when I gave the host my name and was told that they ran out of tables and I had to stand at a high top to eat my dinner... I told her that was unacceptable and I made reservation several days prior to this event and she ended up finding a table for us. Nothing is more frustrating than waiting 30 min just to be served water (meanwhile mosquitos are viciously biting you) and then not being able to order food until an hour later after seating and receiving all your food before your drinks. The DJ was never outside (they just blatantly lied) and we had to approach several people just to be able to order and when we were given the check, no discount and automatic tip included. DISSAPOINTMENT. Would never recommend this place, you're better off visiting Ceviche 105 or Aromas de Peru which are able to handle all parties and continuously provide great service and food! read more
