This is a lovely inn. There is a terrific jazz band that performs during Sunday brunch.

We have never been to a restaurant (other than a vegan place) that had a non-dairy dessert on the menu and it was delicious! others got it and ate every bit of it. Great place!!!

My wife and I have wanted to try The Griswold Inn for many years, and our schedule finally allowed…read moreus to make the trip ahead of a nearby show. Reservations via OpenTable were easy. When we arrived at the hostess station, she verified the reservation and immediately led us to a table in a small room off the main dining area and bar. The entire dining area is old wood -- floor, wall, ceiling -- and the room we were in had narrow floor-to-ceiling bookcases filled with hardcover books. I write this to demonstrate that all the decor served to dampen the sound despite nearly all tables being occupied. While you could hear the bustle and conversations around you, you could still have a conversation. Our server greeted us promptly and took a drink order. When he returned with our drinks, we ordered the clam chowder and braised short ribs for my wife and a wedge salad with the dry-rubbed pork chop for me. After entering our order, our server returned with a basket of warm dinner rolls and butter, then minutes later brought out our soup and salad. Both appetizers were terrific, and I think that may be one of the best blue cheese dressings I've had. Water glasses were refilled frequently without being asked and dishes were cleared by other waitstaff. We never wanted for anything, and none of the comings and goings were disruptive. This was a professional and competent team. Our entrees were served shortly after we finished our appetizers, and they were beautifully presented on the plates. My wife loved her short ribs, which she said melted in her mouth. Until this meal, I've yet to find pork chops to surpass the ones I make at home, but this was truly exceptional! While the mango salsa topping the chop was nice, it was completely unnecessary as the chop was well seasoned and juicy. We capped off the meal with desserts, a chocolate mousse pie for my wife, a warm butter caramel cake with berry compote for me. Delicious! We'll be back to this gem of a place!

I've been in hotels that charged less that were cleaner and offered better amenities. The listing said there was a pool. However, it was closed for the season. In August. I could understand if it was temporarily closed for cleaning but if the pool was not available at all it should not have been included in the listing. The listing also promised a breakfast but there was only one option (hope you like waffles). Other budget hotels would at least offer bagels or fruit. The room did not have a sheer curtain, only a blackout. If I wanted to bring in any sunlight, I was fully visible to people in the parking lot. So, you either have light or privacy, not both. There were other minor issues like ratty curtains and blankets. It would cost you nothing to make sure that the alarm clocks were set to the right time. For a second, I thought I was late to my best friend's wedding. I will say that the staff were polite and helpful. I don't want this review to reflect poorly on them. I know "econo" is in the name and that I should expect a cheap hotel in both senses of the word. However, it wasn't all that "cheap" in terms of price and could have been much better with just a bit more effort and management.

We were happy to see that this remains a nice place to stay - the hotel was clean, the staff was welcoming, the grounds were lovely & the parking lot is spacious. The pillows are very comfortable! We felt safe staying here. My only negative is that the coffee was not tasty, so we did not ask for a "grab & go" breakfast, we walked to a nearby Dunkin Donuts instead. There is a great Mexican restaurant next door! I would definitely stay here again!

I would give this place zero stars if that was a possibility. Yes, it's a Knight's Inn. Not exactly…read morethe cream of the crop. And we weren't expecting much to be honest. But you would think a hospitality business would have some hospitality and respect for it's customers. Not here. My boyfriend and I had no complaints about our room. We were traveling with friends and they were their experiences made me irate. Couple #1 (both men): They requested one room with a king sized bed. They arrived to check in and the owner suggested they take the room with two twin beds, so they'd be more comfortable. They both looked at the woman like she was crazy and said they'd like the room they paid for, not a twin room. She gave them a key and when they went to the room, it had two beds. They were livid when they went back to the check in desk and demanded that they get the room that they requested. The woman begrudgingly gave them a key. Couple #2 (asthmatic woman and man): They requested a nonsmoking room with a queen bed. When they arrived, the owner said she could smell smoke on them so she put them in a smoking room. My friend literally screamed at the woman because she had heard of what happened with our other friends and was already upset by the time she got to the desk. The woman put them in a nonsmoking room after the yelling, but the room had mold on the walls and there was purple goo running from the pipes under the sink. The last straw came at check-out. It was at 10 am and we came into the office to return our key. A man came out IN HIS BOXERS and checked us out of the rooms. He stood in the office for about 5 minutes while he did the computer work to check us out. I finally ended up calling and demanding a refund because it was such a horrible experience. I was able to get one and I really let them have it on the phone (which is totally not my style but I was outraged by how we were treated there) DO NOT STAY HERE. Seriously. They are rude, inappropriate, and clearly not fit to run a hotel. I vowed to myself I will never stay at a hotel that shares a logo with White Castle ever again...

My car broke down not to far from it so we didn't have much options and I checked in at around 4am and checkout was 11am and we were charged 92 dollars for a two bed room. It stunk like cigarettes and even had burned holes from cigarettes in the sheets, and sheets weren't even that clean. If it wasn't so cold outside I would've rather slept in the car or on the street. I suggest no one stay at this place unless you want to catch something.
