My wife and I with our dog were looking for a place to grab breakfast. We found Old Man Joe's. The lovely woman working there took our order, and gave our dog a treat. I grew up in NJ and know what Taylor Ham/Pork Roll is. I got a Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese on a bagel (everything.) It was well done and tasted great, though maybe a bit salty. The ham was a bit overdone and crunchy around the edges, but not too much. Bagel was very good. I ordered "to-go" via telephone and it was ready when they said it would. Had to park across the street in a posted "Parking only for ...(stores in at strip mall) but not a problem in the early morning. Overall, very good. read more

Coming from NY, these are GREAT bagels. I had the Giuseppe on a Sesame bagel (spicy but among the best breakfast sandwiches) and my partner had the Joe's Gone Fishin' on their Za'tar bagel (very impressed by how homemade/fresh everything was!). For drinks we had a vanilla iced coffee, and an iced Chai. I like my coffee sweet but don't like a lot of added sugar and these were no disappointment! The establishment seemed to be family run or the staff was just that friendly! We decided this may be our new Sunday go-to. read more

Old Man Joe's is located on Main St across from Dick's World of Wines and Midway Pizza Plaza. It's in the same location as the old beloved TinTin bakery. To enter the parking lot , enter the driveway on the left of the building. The spots are (poorly marked) along the left. Exit to the right, behind the building, onto School St. 4 Adirondack chairs sit at the front of the building. This is a great idea because now we can see that this place is opened (there were many delays to its opening) and you can see people enjoying their products. The inside has about 4 tables seating for 4 with seating along the counter. There's a menu board and pastry display case. Coffee is from Brooklyn NY (home town!!!) all of the goods are organic and made in house. They also make their own nut milks. The bagels are sourdough. You can get, butter, cream cheese, labneh, lox, bacon, eggs, pork roll (I guess it's something like Canadian Bacon- but Native to the Jersey area), and cheese. There's also chia pudding (which I planned on ordering but I forgot) I had the poppy bagel with veggie cream cheese. The veggie cream cheese was made with fresh veggies which I don't think I've ever had before. There were red and yellow Bell peppers, red onion, and scallions. Very nice touch. The cheddar scone was delicious with flaky sea salt on the top. Would have been better heated up. I bought the last one- but not before the next customer ordering has seen it in the display case and tried ordering it. They were kind of bummed out. They ended up sitting next to us so I offered them a piece and then they gave us a piece of their muffin. The owners cheered at us for being so friendly and sharing. And we both got to try both pastries so win win win !! My cappuccino was truly delicious. I ordered the Flash Drip with cashew milk for hubby. He loved it. Prices were just right. I found it was a bit cheaper than Dave's. They are very generous with the poppy and sesame seeds on the bagels. Top and bottoms were covered in seeds. Very rare to see. I'm a huge poppy seed fan and not many places carry them. So for a drip coffee, an herbal chamomile tea, cappuccino, Flash Drip, cheddar scone, bagel with lox, bagel with butter, bagel with veggie cream cheese came out to $34.56 (lucky!). That was 4 drinks, 3 bagels and 1 pastry. Expect to spend about $9 per person. Not bad. All straws and utensils are compostable. Trays are those super sturdy metal trays. The staff were super friendly. (Jazz I think) music plays inside, fresh cut flowers on the tables. Came on Wednesday around noon. Steady flow of customers throughout our visit. I want to give this place more stars because the cocktails and food we had were very good. The service though was less than appealing. The gentleman with the toque hat was downright unfriendly. In our few interactions with him, it felt like we were putting him simply by trying to place our order. The space is very small, which for the night we stopped in made it slightly unpleasant. We wanted to listen to the musician who was playing, but the crowd noise rose above the music, so it makes me wonder why book a singer/musician if the crowd has no interest in listening? The ambiance is cold. There isn't any art or photos on the plain white walls, and the space is very dimly lit. It wasn't warm and inviting at all. I did enjoy the food we tried, which was excellent. The cocktails we ordered were also excellent. If they can get their staff and ambiance to warm up and be more inviting, this will be a great place. I'll check it out again in the hope that they appreciate constructive criticism. read more

I come back to the area a couple times of year and noticed this new place. I heard great reviews about it so had to check it out with my Mom. What a delightful experience...We were warmly greeted and guided to the variety of breakfast food options. We enjoyed a perfect hot chai, delicious everything bagel sandwich with egg, home made veggie cream cheese with obvious chunks of veggies and thick bacon Mom's cheddar chive scone was delicious too! The space is open with plenty of seats at the bar. We sat at one of the several tables. What struck me was the engagement not just between the server and customers but also between the customers I heard enough of the conversations to realize that even though they didn't know each other, there was genuine and curious communication between them. Quite refreshing to witness. I'll be back in the spring to try the pizzas. read more

Exactly what westerly needed - a great bagel joint! Might be the best bagel I've head north of the nyc, and the coffee is fantastic to boot. The staff is awesome, very nice and local to the area. For so long I've been trying to find a good bagel spot in Westerly. Out of the blue came old man joes! I was introduced to my first ever "Pork Roll" upon my first visit, and I've been dying to get another ever since I left. My girlfriend and I attended a tremendous wine tasting night not long after, and the service was spot on. Love the staff and the overall vibe. The owners are so kind. In 30 mins while I was waiting for my friend who was late, they sold all 5 slices that were left of the GF poppy loaf, which is what I had come for. I would skip the GF wild oat bar in the future - it was dry. Wish they still made the GF bread so I could have had an egg sandwich. read more

Pretty good coffee but the man that served me was cold and unfriendly. Seemed frustrated by my asking simple questions and emanated condescension. First time trying this place out and I was definitely disappointed. Ordered two bagels and went to take a bite they were rock hard like they have been sitting out for a long time. We did not toast them at all and almost broke a tooth. They do not offer different roasts and should have more milk options. Definitely overpriced for what we received and it was a big let down as for being a local. $20 for two coffees and two "fresh" bagels, not sure why everyone is raving about this place. read more
