Okay so I love this little spot in Mystic! Away from the main street chaos and with a parking lot were the first perks! The Life on Marizpan latte was incredible - got it iced and the flavor was amazing! All flavor shots are made in house. Kids had the lemonade - also fresh and in house. Shared a large cheese pizza and devoured! The baked goods looked delicious! I will say - the donuts were sold out when we were there at noon so we will definitely will be back for everything we tried and hopefully donuts next time too! read more

There were a lot of intriguing options to choose from. I had the chilaquiles ($15) and a Cacio Pepe doughnut ($4). The chilaquiles had corn tortilla chips, salsa Verde, salsa Macha, cotija, white onion, cilantro, and a fried egg. The chips appeared to be homemade, and they were tremendous along with the salsa Verde and Macha. There was a nice kick to the salsas and a perfect crunch from the chips. However, it just felt like the dish was mostly chips. I felt like more toppings could be added or an additional egg. The fried egg was also a little overcooked, guess when ordering, we could have specified how we wanted it to be cooked. The doughnut was okay. The sourdough base was very solid, but essentially just a lot of cheese on top. I was not sure what to expect regarding this type of doughnut, but this was the least optimal choice. Will I go back? I really enjoyed our visit here! Came around 11:15ish on a Saturday. We were luckily able to get a parking spot in the lot. The line was pretty long when we got there and waited around 15 minutes to order. Workers were all very kind. The menu has a variety of breakfast options, pizzas, sandwiches, and different bowls. It's hard to choose with all the options. Also lots of pastries and bread options that look delicious. The inside is kinda small with some seating and nice outdoor seating along the water. Though we were initially planning on Mystic Pizza, enough locals said don't bother that we decided to find another (better) place to satisfy our pizza craving. Nana's had great ratings and some interesting options so we gave it a go. Parking was easy. Though the place is small, they had tables so we were able to order at the counter and enjoy a nice dinner and not be bothered by the bitter cold outside. We got their clam pizza and the bolognese and both were incredible. So flavorful, so fresh. There was lots of moaning and chair dancing. I mean I just love Nana's! We were driving through Mystic and I was pleasantly surprised to find this Nana's location on Yelp! It's behind an autoshop and I definitely had to circle twice to find it. Basically just park at the front of the auto shop and it's in the right back corner. I ordered the Life on Marzipan latte and it was delicious. I also enjoyed a peppermint cupcake. Found myself on an overnight in Mystic with my daughter and needed a fast place to grab a bite to eat that allows for vegan and non vegan meals. Nana's bakery and pizza was a great choice. They have a variety of pizzas and sandwiches and some salads that will satisfy all eaters. My daughter had a cheese pizza (half pepperoni) and I had a vegan tofu wrap which had fresh veggies and a delicious sauce. The wrap was very satisfying and delicious and made for a nice fast dinner. Service is fast. Despite no more single slices of pizza being available, I had to get a full pie and it went quickly. The crust was perfectly crisp. The restaurant itself is small but has seating available for eat in - I opted for dine out. I went here for the first time today and it was so cute. They weren't serving breakfast anymore as it was 11:20 AM on a Saturday. So that was a little sad, but we got grilled cheese and some french fries. I asked for no onions, which they accidentally forgot, but it was still good. They have very few tables, but we ended up snagging them. The hot chocolate was so good and the food ended up being really good. ok so if I could I'd give this a strong 3.7/5. Highlights- earl grey matcha with cold foam, sourdough cinnamon sugar donut. The reason it doesn't get a full 5 is because the mushroom toast was quite small, not very filling and lacked flavor. The french toast sticks were deeply fried (albeit good) -- would have preferred baked or on stove. The whipped cream cheese, granola and apple bites were quite special but small portion with the sticks. The egg sandwich with hash brown was good -- very yum hash brown but overall the two most important items to get: the matcha and SD donut- I'd easily say that was the best donut i've ever had and i've never had a SD donut before-- it was right out of the oven and perfectly soft, chewy and was a 10/10 - no notes. read more

But, if haven't been to the storefront like me we've all been missing out. The staff is attentive and friendly very happy to ask questions and give suggestions. The setting is absolutely gorgeous, it's beautiful both indoors and outdoors. The staff is kind and the bakery selection looked good. The flatbread and mushroom breakfast with salad on the side tasted very good. If you prefer acidic foods/flavors, this is a great dish for you. Vinegar flavor throughout the plate and tastes fresh! Just a heads-up: this review is based entirely on personal taste -- I know lots of folks love Nana's, and I really wanted to be one of them. Nana's Bakery & Pizza in Mystic is super cute -- warm, minimal decor with just the right touch of rustic charm. It's a small space inside, and since the weather wasn't playing nice, the outdoor seating wasn't an option during our visit. Inside, it felt a bit cramped, especially with folks ordering and picking up crowding around the few available tables. I can totally see it being a more relaxed and comfortable spot on a sunny day. Service was friendly but a bit slow -- it seemed like the person working the register was still getting familiar with the menu. Not a big deal, but worth noting if you're in a rush. We ordered the Margherita pizza with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, olive oil, and basil -- and added Seacoast Mushrooms. The sourdough crust was beautifully charred and had a nice crunch, but for us, the flavor of the crust overpowered everything else. The pizza leaned a bit dry, and overall just didn't quite hit the mark for our taste. On a more positive note -- the bread looked incredible, and the rotisserie chickens turning behind the counter were seriously tempting (even though I'm a pescatarian these days). If I find myself back in the area, I'd be interested in coming by for breakfast or trying one of their salads at lunch. We were visiting Mystic and stopped at Nana's for breakfast one morning. It was early in the morning but already bustling with diners. There are several tables outside with a lovely water view. We ordered the egg sandwich, hash brown egg sandwich, a cinnamon sugar sourdough doughnut and a loaf of sourdough sandwich bread. It took awhile to receive our order because they were so busy but it was worth the wait. The doughnut was so light and fluffy! The egg sandwiches were some of the best we've ever had. I can't say enough good things about Nana's. The food is delicious, so flavorful and light, yet filling. I had the Greek Pizza, and it's so perfectly topped with olives and feta and brushed with oil. My wife had their burger, and likewise everything about it was what you'd want in a burger. Cooked perfectly, not greasy, full of flavor. To drink we had one of the current specials, a nutty coconut mocha iced latte. I've never had a bad drink here. They're so creative with the recipes, and the espresso itself is high quality and shots are well pulled. The girls who work here are all so polite and attentive, and they always interact nicely with our toddler. My wife wants to own a coffee shop someday, and she always says the vibe here is exactly what she'd want. Not overdecorated, but it's got a decided style that keeps it feeling homey while you're inside. The string lights outside are a nice touch, though I've never been here late enough to see them lit. I want this Nana to be my Nana! A true chef and pastry mastermind. This lunchtime treat hit the spot. I was driving through Connecticut on a road trip and a local relative recommended I stop and try a Nana's pizza along with some coffee and dessert. My mom and I arrived just before noon to a small and quiet back corner cafe. We were greeted so warmly by the staff! Seriously, props to the workers. They answered all of our questions and helped us make our selections-but I'm quite sure nothing could be bad here. After much deliberation we ordered a margarita pan pie. We sat at one of the few indoor tables overlooking the water and noticed how busy the place got at the stroke of noon. It seemed we arrived just in time. Heads up that you'll likely wait if you come with the lunch rush-totally worth it though. The staff was efficient and kept things moving. First bite of pizza left us with a pleasant surprise! We realized that the crust is sourdough! We LOVE sourdough and it was very unexpected. A different twist on pizza. I won't say it's the best pizza in the world but it's certainly a nice spin. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was light and crispy and their sauce was absolutely divine. Slightly on the sweet side. I'd totally buy a jar if they sold it! Nana, if you read this send me some sauce? It was a walk from where we parked and I had trouble locating the entrance but once we did, we found a hidden oasis! They also inherited the rotisserie chicken of the sadly defunct Grass & Bone and have maintained that well. The rotisserie chicken with their chicken fat roasted potatoes and veggies with Szechuan chili crunch makes an excellent to-go dinner. Be sure to get the garlic aioli dipping sauce. Stopped in for lunch the other day and ordered a couple of pizza's. I wish we had ordered just one pizza and split it for 4 people to leave room for desert because the donuts going out of there looked awfully good. That said, their pizza is wonderful. The crust had a perfect "chew", the sauce had a wonderful tomato flavor, and the pepperoni was nice. They were pretty busy with other order's, so it took like 30 minutes for our pizza to come out, but it was worth waiting for. The seating area is pretty small, but we found a table near the windows. They do a big carry out business, so it wasn't like we had anyone breathing down our neck for our table. I wish I could come back for their bakery but I live a couple thousand miles away :-( read more

Nana's is a good space to get locally made and farm raised items. They offer a ton of organic and locally made items from the bread to the produce they use. Everything is really seasonally focused and locally sourced. You can absolutely see that the food is fresh and can identify the different ingredients in your meal. You truly can eat here and feel good about what's going into your body. I love their sourdough pizza and often get the New England pie. They also sell delicious pastries and you can take a loaf of their bread home. It's a lovely spot and a must visit in mystic I think. read more
