Respectfully... what happened? This is psychological damage. I went out of my way to go to Lighthouse because I heard they had gluten-free options. They had gluten-free option, singular, so that's what I got. This plain gluten-free bagel with plain cream cheese ran me $7. I asked for it extra toasted. I got raw ass bread, slightly warmed up, with an insulting amount of cream cheese. So yeah you can get a gluten-free bagel here, but at what cost? (That's a rhetorical question - the answer is $7 & emotional distress). Anyways - I really hope they continue to stock gluten-free items, just with more intention & care. People will go way out of their way for a good gluten-free breakfast. It's gotta be good tho.

First time is here in Connecticut, and this was the first place that we decided to try out. This is a very cozy and cute bakery, located to the rear of the property. There is some seating outside as well as inside. Upon walking in, we were not greeted by any of the employees, but that did not bother us because we were just very hungry. We stood at the front of the counter with approximately 4 to 5 employees behind the counter. All employees noticed us, and none of them said a single word. It wasn't until my boyfriend caught the attention of somebody to take our order. Female employee came to the cash register, was very nice and took our order promptly. As soon as the food was delivered to our table, everything was forgiven. The food was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend and I have both ordered breakfast sandwiches and a raspberry shortcake for dessert. And it did not disappoint. If we're ever back in Connecticut, we might not be returning here, but it was a good experience. If we return back, we'd probably like to see what else Connecticut has to offer.

We loved this spot in the heart of downtown Mystic! This location was within walking distance of Mystic downtown shopping and vendors. We easily found parking in the morning. Lighthouse bakes all of their items fresh in house and offers quite a variety of food and drink options. The environment is homey, warm and welcoming. Their top sellers of breakfast include the Classic OG & the Big 55. They offer a current winter coffee menu as well as your classic go-tos. Their nitro cold brew is also a great pick! If you're a runner, be sure to also check out their Saturday AM run club with free coffee and some post-run event offerings. They have outdoor seating that is enclosed and heated as well as a few tables inside to get cozy. They offer milk alternatives and merch to purchase too!

Raspberry Bar The shortbread cookie base was nice and thick. The shortbread was soft and not overly sweet. The raspberry jam layer was too thin for the ratio of jam to shortbread. The bar overall was very dry. It was a pretty good bar, nothing to write home about though. It needs a much better topping with a thicker layer too.

Love the new outside seating away from hustle bustle of main st traffic! And the ciabatta bread is D-lish and quite large for a breakfast sandwich

Overall 5/5! I am an absolute lover over family-owned businesses, and it definitely makes it 1000% better when I get a nice BRUNCH too!! Lighthouse Bakery has been said to be a hidden gem, and I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT DISAGREE! it might be a little hard to find because it is tucked away behind a carpet cleaning company & to the right of Bravo Bravo, but do not miss an opportunity to come and grab a bite here! The owner was so kind and wonderful, the food was great, and it was honestly the perfect spot for Brunch for me, my mom, and my sister. I had the Breakfast Burrito, which had ground beef, cheese, beans, and egg, and IT WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and definitely filled me up! It was quite savory, and I'm not one with a huge appetite, but I definitely would've eaten two! I also had their cappuccino, which was very nicely made (comes without sugar, so you do it to your taste!) & the Tiramisu, which was AMAZING--Lighthouse Bakery's Tiramisu was so yummy, and had the perfect balance between sweet and bitter (like the coffee type of bitter). Honestly, it was probably the best Tiramisu I think I've tasted! The only thing I'll warn about is that there isn't much seating inside, but there is enough outside! Don't let the seating turn you away though; you definitely want to try Lighthouse Bakery before you leave Mystic!

A hidden bakery in the back part of the lot. Small selections of baked goods and drinks available, but it seems like they definitely make what they are good at. Less food waste and fresher food, so I am all in for that! This place has probably one of the BEST tiramisu desserts I've had!!! We saw two fresh batches being made in front of us in the open kitchen concept, on a Saturday morning. It could probably use a little more coffee flavor. Otherwise it'd be PERFECT! Their raspberry bars were very light and airy, with a shortbread cookie texture. Not over the top in sweetness and without the artificial flavoring. We brought a fresh baguette too and it was made to perfection. My husband says it was like some of the fresh breads he's had from Europe. Unfortunately, the homemade cinnamon bun was very dry, and wasn't rolled with enough cinnamon/sugar for flavor. As you can see in my photo, it almost looked like a sugar brioche. However, we did buy the last one so it was probably a fluke in the batch . Otherwise, definitely give this place a visit it you are in town. They also serve a humble breakfast menu with coffee opts too. Available parking at the back. Great customer service!

A welcome treat for brunch! Food was yummy, Americano (Ille) delicious and perfectly brewed fresh. Food was made to order and came quickly to the outdoor table we selected. Their pastries, cakes and tiramisu looked amazing and there appeared to be fresh cannolis awaiting their filling upon order. Didn't break the bank and definitely worth the stop.

With its Latin American focus, I felt like the Peruvian chicken would be the best bet. Plus it was listed first on the menu (unlike concert setlists the best isn't usually saved for last - what's the deal with The Killers opening with Mr. Brightside? - but I digress). This was superb, partly thanks to the salsa verde, but also due to the excellent basil bread. I also enjoyed the mint lemonade. The local customers, like many Yelpers, raved about the Chinese BBQ sandwich and said I should get it next time. I had a moment of indie-rock snobbery and thought I can get Chinese sandwiches anytime in NYC, but I was curious about the emphatic praise. For a second I pretended I couldn't possibly get a second sandwich. So with some self-delusion combining "I didn't eat breakfast" and "these nice people told me to get another one" I got the BBQ sandwich. It, too, was excellent, with a perfect fusing of ham, bread and sauce.

There were a lot of intriguing options to choose from. I had the chilaquiles ($15) and a Cacio Pepe doughnut ($4). The chilaquiles had corn tortilla chips, salsa Verde, salsa Macha, cotija, white onion, cilantro, and a fried egg. The chips appeared to be homemade, and they were tremendous along with the salsa Verde and Macha. There was a nice kick to the salsas and a perfect crunch from the chips. However, it just felt like the dish was mostly chips. I felt like more toppings could be added or an additional egg. The fried egg was also a little overcooked, guess when ordering, we could have specified how we wanted it to be cooked. The doughnut was okay. The sourdough base was very solid, but essentially just a lot of cheese on top. I was not sure what to expect regarding this type of doughnut, but this was the least optimal choice. Will I go back? I would.

Since Pasta was in the name, I figured it might be more of a market than a grinder shop and I decided to visit. It was actually more of a grinder shop that sold some fresh pasta and sauces and things that you would expect a grinder shop to have. I honestly thought about walking out without buying anything, but I kept thinking about that awesome looking Italian Trio (basically like an Italian Combo) grinder. I decided to order a small, take some pics and a couple of bites, and save the rest for later since I had lunch plans. This grinder was my ideal Italian Combo. First off, the small was huge. Full size at most places. I ate it over the course of two days. I ordered it with lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, cucumbers, provolone, Oil and Vinegar, Salt and Pepper, and Mayo. The three meats were pepperoni, Genoa salami and capicola. The bread was good, fresh and up to the job of holding the ingredients. There were about six slices of meats, but they folded them around the inside of the bun (cut on one side) so you were really getting about 12 layers in each bite. And the inside was stuffed with the veggies and other toppings. So stuffed that the toppings fell out as you were taking bites. But that was actually great from my perspective, because you could just pick up the fallen toppings and put them exactly where you were going to bite next. I've been to a lot of highly rated grinder shops in CT. I don't think I've had a better Italian combo. The ingredients were all great. It was a well constructed sandwich. You got bits and pieces of most of the stuff in each bite. Ingredients were in the right proportion. It was salty. Acidic. Juicy. Great contrasting textures. This was a text book Italian Combo Grinder. Now if you live near Mystic, getting a grinder from Pasta Fresca is a no brainer because you can take it home. If you're not from the Mystic area, there was a bit of seating. Seating may be hit or miss though. In any event, if you can figure out where you're going to eat the Italian Trio, you're going to love it. Can't believe I've never heard of this place. 5 Stars

We were seated at a lovely table for two overlooking Main Street - watching people stroll by from that elevated perch behind glass felt almost cinematic. The real star of the show was the food, which is ultimately what you're there for, and it delivered. The menu offers plenty of options without being overwhelming. I started with the Crispy Pig's Head as an appetizer - a bold choice that turned out to be outstanding. For my entrée, the bucatini with seacoast mushrooms, sherry, parmesan, mushroom cream, and fine herbs was perfectly cooked, and carried a subtle but deeply flavorful sauce. And the housemade sourdough with poblano honey butter? Absolutely outstanding. To be fair, our server took a little time to warm up but found their footing and gave us everything we needed. Parking in Mystic on a busy weekend night can also be a challenge and expensive. Neither is reason enough to skip this one. Ship Wright's Daughter is exactly the kind of restaurant Mystic deserves. My husband and I got married last December. We decided we would hold off on celebrating with our family and invite everyone out from California to join us for a weekend full of activities in Connecticut and a special dinner at Shipwright's Daughter during Memorial Day weekend. We contacted the restaurant's events team to work out high level details starting in late January - to book a private room and hold a date and time. From the get go, the communication we received from the event staff was dismal to say the least. Not only did the events manager misquote the estimate for the room reservation, she came back and asked for a much higher price (up charging by an additional 30% of the original minimum fee) two months after we confirmed and discussed the date. She then explained it was due to the holiday weekend. Our date had never changed from the moment we inquired, so we would have appreciated knowing this upfront. Over the course of several months (and an absurd number of emails and a few calls), we tried to solidify the menu and wine selection and made multiple attempts before hearing back from the team. It was about two weeks before the big event when we were able to confirm a menu. It was about four days before the event that we heard back from the beverage director, but by then, my husband and I had already decided we would bring our own wine bottles, not wanting to leave it to chance with this team. I won't go into further details about the frustration we felt regarding their system for communications (they use an internal system that doesn't make it easy for guests to know who is copied on emails and who sees what). That is something I hope they will work out. When the big day came, I walked into the room and noticed there were a number of chairs missing, so I counted the chairs. They had an incorrect number of chairs for adults and not enough high chairs for the toddlers. We had requested a specific number of these chairs (weeks prior and mentioned it multiple times in writing), and I thought it was safe to assume that this was a basic checklist item for events set up. I was dumbfounded in the moment. I couldn't help but wonder what else they were going to miss or mess up that evening. It was disappointing to have our family members wait while the staff scrambled to pull other chairs into the room. From the time it took to take everyone's order from the set menu, the time between courses being served, and the attentiveness for pouring water and wine - all of it was a miss. The level of hospitality that we expected from a restaurant so recognized for its incredible food and approach to sustainable sourcing was completely overshadowed by the lack of attention and care by its staff - since day one of planning this event. Even a few of our family members commented on this during the dinner. At the end of the day, we felt like an obligation rather than welcomed guests, and that is mainly why I'm leaving this review. We had been patrons of Shipwright's a couple of times prior to this event, which is why we chose this establishment - to represent the best that Connecticut has to offer, when it comes to a dining experience we could vouch for. We no longer feel that we can recommend this restaurant. If you care about hospitality, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
