I've heard of this place but finally made the visit! I have to recommend their Tiramisu Latte, probably the best latte I've gotten out at a restaurant! Creamy and balanced, I was tempted to get another! We ordered the California Burrito and Big 55 sandwich. The jalapeño aioli paired with the carne asada on the burrito was unreal. Better than they make in Cali! Big 55 was everything you could want in a classic breakfast sandwich with sausage and bacon on a soft ciabatta with chipotle aioli. Last note - the guys behind the counter were so friendly, greeting everyone coming through the door! I swear they knew everyone, and introduced themselves if they didn't. Really disappointed with my experience. The cold brew tasted like it came from a can, which was surprising and disappointing for a bakery and coffee shop. I think it is because I saw several cans, What bothered me even more was the customer service. I politely explained that I didn't like the taste of the coffee and asked if I could exchange it for something else. The manager/owner responded with a smirk, "You can, but you'll have to pay for it." I've never had a coffee shop handle a situation like that. It wasn't about the coffee--it was the lack of customer service and unwillingness to make a customer feel valued. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. Update #1 the owner just admitted that the cold brew machine was broken and was using cans- pretty sure that was not public knowledge prior to me ordering my coffee and hence why the taste was clearly off. If I am going to a speciality coffee house, I am expecting a fresh coffee or transparency that the coffee will not be of the same standard because it is coming from a mass produced can instead of freshly brewed process. Considering I did express that I didn't not like the taste it would have been justified for the shop to make me a new coffee. If I wanted a canned coffee I wouldn't have gone to a speciality place. It should have been communicated that the coffee was from a can because clearly the taste and quality of a different standard.I was made to feel like my concerns were not validated. I picked up that this tasted off and wanted something else. Update #2 I did not like the taste of my cold brew and it tasted off because it came from a can. the owner removed his initial response where he admitted the machine was broken and they were using cans and changed his story completely to once again put the blame on me. At the end of the day, the cold brew didn't taste good because it came from a can was not fresh. It has nothing to do with the taste of cold brew or personal preference- any serious coffee lover would taste cold brew from a can and know that it is disgusting and that is why I expressed concern that the taste was off. Owner should have been more transparent that the coffee was from a a can and not make me feel like as the customer I was wrong and totally off base. Update #3 I was not informed at the time of purchase that the cold brew was not freshly made in-house and was instead a canned product due to equipment issues. That is a meaningful detail that changes the expectation of what was being served and should have been communicated upfront. The drink itself did not meet the standard of what I expect from a coffee shop cold brew, and I did not enjoy the taste or quality. When I expressed that I did not like the drink and asked for an alternative, I did not feel the interaction was handled in a respectful or customer-focused way. That experience is what I was responding to in my review. The owner is saying I didn't like the taste or strength etc of the product but now knowing it was a canned product it makes complete sense why it was not good. It would have been great to see more focus on resolving a customer concern in the moment from this owner rather than continuing to debate it afterward. At the end of the day, the cold brew canned coffee that was given to me was horrible. No matter how much milk or flavored syrup I could add it to would still taste gross. I would go to other coffee shops in the area. read more

Respectfully... what happened? This is psychological damage. I went out of my way to go to Lighthouse because I heard they had gluten-free options. They had gluten-free option, singular, so that's what I got. This plain gluten-free bagel with plain cream cheese ran me $7. I asked for it extra toasted. I got raw ass bread, slightly warmed up, with an insulting amount of cream cheese. So yeah you can get a gluten-free bagel here, but at what cost? (That's a rhetorical question - the answer is $7 & emotional distress). Anyways - I really hope they continue to stock gluten-free items, just with more intention & care. People will go way out of their way for a good gluten-free breakfast. It's gotta be good tho. read more

First time is here in Connecticut, and this was the first place that we decided to try out. This is a very cozy and cute bakery, located to the rear of the property. There is some seating outside as well as inside. Upon walking in, we were not greeted by any of the employees, but that did not bother us because we were just very hungry. We stood at the front of the counter with approximately 4 to 5 employees behind the counter. All employees noticed us, and none of them said a single word. It wasn't until my boyfriend caught the attention of somebody to take our order. Female employee came to the cash register, was very nice and took our order promptly. As soon as the food was delivered to our table, everything was forgiven. The food was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend and I have both ordered breakfast sandwiches and a raspberry shortcake for dessert. And it did not disappoint. If we're ever back in Connecticut, we might not be returning here, but it was a good experience. If we return back, we'd probably like to see what else Connecticut has to offer. read more

Lighthouse bakes all of their items fresh in house and offers quite a variety of food and drink options. The environment is homey, warm and welcoming. Their top sellers of breakfast include the Classic OG & the Big 55. They offer a current winter coffee menu as well as your classic go-tos. Their nitro cold brew is also a great pick! If you're a runner, be sure to also check out their Saturday AM run club with free coffee and some post-run event offerings. Raspberry Bar The shortbread cookie base was nice and thick. The shortbread was soft and not overly sweet. The raspberry jam layer was too thin for the ratio of jam to shortbread. The owner was so kind and wonderful, the food was great, and it was honestly the perfect spot for Brunch for me, my mom, and my sister. I had the Breakfast Burrito, which had ground beef, cheese, beans, and egg, and IT WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and definitely filled me up! It was quite savory, and I'm not one with a huge appetite, but I definitely would've eaten two! I also had their cappuccino, which was very nicely made (comes without sugar, so you do it to your taste!) & the Tiramisu, which was AMAZING--Lighthouse Bakery's Tiramisu was so yummy, and had the perfect balance between sweet and bitter (like the coffee type of bitter). A hidden bakery in the back part of the lot. Small selections of baked goods and drinks available, but it seems like they definitely make what they are good at. Less food waste and fresher food, so I am all in for that! This place has probably one of the BEST tiramisu desserts I've had!!! We saw two fresh batches being made in front of us in the open kitchen concept, on a Saturday morning. It could probably use a little more coffee flavor. Otherwise it'd be PERFECT! Their raspberry bars were very light and airy, with a shortbread cookie texture. Not over the top in sweetness and without the artificial flavoring. We brought a fresh baguette too and it was made to perfection. My husband says it was like some of the fresh breads he's had from Europe. Unfortunately, the homemade cinnamon bun was very dry, and wasn't rolled with enough cinnamon/sugar for flavor. As you can see in my photo, it almost looked like a sugar brioche. However, we did buy the last one so it was probably a fluke in the batch . Otherwise, definitely give this place a visit it you are in town. This is a hidden gem. I initially have been on the quest for a bakery that makes good bread. We stumbled upon this quaint place a few days ago, and I'm glad we did! Not only do they make their own bread, they have an assortment of other items on their menu (including sandwiches). We went on a day where they weren't baking bread but we had a breakfast sandwich and we were sooooo glad we did. We usually go to another spot in Mystic for the sandwich but this will be our new place. It's a family run business and you can tell as soon as you walk in. It is very out of sight, if you were just driving by, you might not know it existed. It is a little hidden gem. You can see two gentlemen, working hard behind the counter, making fresh bread. The other one is cooking. The young man that took our order and cooked our sandwiches was so friendly and so kind. They are clearly all committed to fresh food and are hard-working. I love supporting small businesses like this. The bread was had a nice crunch, but wasn't exceptionally flavorful. We asked for scrambled eggs, and it was more fried than scrambled, and the egg overshadowed the sausage. It was decent, but I wouldn't say exceptional. Not the best looking I've seen but thought I'd give them a try. Got them back home and had trouble finding the cinnamon. They were dry and not really that appealing. Did throw out the second one as the first wasn't very good. Being dry and the lack of cinnamon really made it more of just a plain bun then anything else.
