When Old Mexico opened several years ago, I thought it was the best. Every time I go back I'm a little more disappointed. The last time I was there will be the last time. The Margaritas were so bad we actually sent them back. The waiter apologized and said he would bring us good ones. The good ones tasted like water with lime juice. Nothing good about it. The food was so unremarkable. I can barely remember what I had but, I know it was tasteless and lukewarm. Yuck. I don't really know where to start, service was not great. Granted we had a large party, but it took forever to get our orders taken. The only time we had great service was when the lady came to see if we wanted table side guacamole. The atmosphere wasn't great, several of the chairs at our table, and all around the restaurant were so worn and cracked you were afraid to sit down. Our table was sticky, as was the floor in the dining room and the bathroom, it was just dirty and worn down looking, shabby. Onto the food, the chips were awful, bland and with a weird kind of chemical aftertaste. The salsa tasted like watered down ketchup. The menu is large and while there are a lot of options, it is pricey. Best Mexican restaurant in Green Bay! The ambiance is just so darn cute! They have a ton of great Mexican themed decor - very nice decor and accents to create a great space. We are always greeted with hello's when we walk in the door. The food. Oh the food. Everything is outstanding! Highly recommend getting the table side guac. It is SO good. We have tried so many different menu items, and they always hit the mark! Highly recommend their choripollo (chorizo + chicken) meal, tacos.... And everything. My only complaint?! The food comes out SUPER quick. So if you want to take your time, wait to order. It comes in less than 5 minutes. The drinks. Oh the drinks! LOVE them. Cannot recommend the Cantarito enough! Howard Suamicos newest restaurant is a nice place to check out. The inside is bright, comfortable, and clean. It was a much bigger place than I was originally expecting. The service is great and they are eager to help you. As they train new staff (it is a new restaurant) you can tell that they are training to provide great service. The table side guacamole is very good and the best part to me is you can ask for it the way you want it. I didn't want cilantro so it was a great option for me. It could have used a little less lime/lemon and more jalapeño for my liking but next time I'll just mention that. The food is good with a lot of meat. I got a combo with a quesadilla and a burrito. The quesadilla was very good and I think that would be my go to with a guacamole. I think I will try the fajitas too though as they looked very good. read more

Today we decided to try out a new location for an old favorite of ours, Old Mexico's new location in Green Bay, WI. The new location seemed to compare favorably with the original location in name and menu only. The restaurant was clean (helped by being a brand new building). The menus were the same as the original location (including the prices as best we could tell). That is where the favorable comparison ends. The restaurant was very, very noisy, taking away from the overall dining experience. The service was fast and furious. It appeared the server was rushed. The food was average. it seems the portion sizes have gotten smaller at the new location. They changed the serving plates to a grey color with spots on it. were they trying to hide anything? There appeared to be something missing from the food at the new location. Not sure what. Then, they got the bill wrong. I don't think they pay as much attention to details as the do at the Sturgeon Bay location. The best I can do at this time is 3 stars. read more

I'm the first to admit that I don't care for Mexican food...however I will be adding Old Mexico to my list of places to eat after going there! The table side fresh guacamole is amazing! I could make a meal just out of that! We brought a couple friends here after the Packers game on Sunday and this place got 2 thumbs up from all of us!! My margarita was enormous and delicious as were my steak tacos. The sauce that came with was a lovely surprise and oh so tasty!! Great rice as well....I declined the refried beans so I can't comment on them. Our group also got chicken tacos that had huge strips of chicken on them, a chimichanga and a burrito. We all left stuffed to the gills and happy with our new found restaurant - bonus it's close to home! read more

I mean just YES! Walking in it looks like any other Mexican restaurant you may find in the area but then once at your table it just gets better and better. First off the salsa came with individual containers for each guest to enjoy salsa. This helped me not make a mess I loved it. They then come around and ask you if you want table side guacamole made in small or large. It is well worth the money! Not only is it fun to watch them make it the guac itself is really tasty. The chips served with both were well fried and seasoned. I ordered a spotted cow beer which paired well with my meal and was on tap. I am always on the look out for good mole and this place did not disappoint. The mole enchiladas were really yummy. I love the richness and almost bitterness of their mole here. The rice was excellent and the beans just okay. I would order more of that rice in the future. Portion sizes are huge and we were stuffed to capacity after our meal. This was a surprising find on a late Friday night, especially considering we live out that way. For the most part it's pretty standard local Mexican fare, but the table side guacamole is really fantastic! The guacamole by itself is worth coming in for, not to mention the very good (and very large!) margaritas. My wife had the parillada, which was very good. Well seasoned, and a ton of food. I had my go to dish of carne asada, which was pretty good, but not seasoned quite as well as I like. The standard rice and beans were quite nice, but the beans far outstripped the rice - the rice itself was okay, but the beans were very good. My friend and I came in last night to celebrate National Margarita Day. We arrived around 7 pm and ordered our margaritas and food. We are only able to see each other around once a month due to schedules. The website and location themselves stated they were opened until 9 pm. The service was okay, he checked on us once or twice but wasn't very friendly. The young man making table side guacamole seemed absolutely exhausted but opened up with a smile when we started messing with him. We got our food which was pretty decent shortly after. But my friends food that came was not even close to what she ordered. She is non-confrentational so she did not say anything and ate it anyways... At 8:20 they shut off half the dining room lights and shut all the music off. We were kinda taken back with the awkward silence if we were talking but we were like whatever. At 8:40 they shut off the TV right next to us and the employees stared at us from their "waiting area" with their jackets on making it very obvious they wanted to leave. Someone from the kitchen area screamed "Go home!". We found this so incredibly rude... We felt super uncomfortable as we were still munching on our food. We packed up quickly and left... We will not return as this is not a way to treat your customers... Don't get me wrong, I waitressed for a long time myself before coming into my career and there was times I was just ready to go home myself. But I would never make a guest feel like we did where we were practically pushed out the door. When we left the were on our tails, even pulling the door shut and locking it as we stepped out.
